“Lovely place and staff”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

The hotel is very basic, but clean and you get what you pay for. The staff are lovely and do anything to help. The pool is cleaned daily and there are enough sunbeds for everybody. I visited 3 times in 2013 and will be visiting again this year :-)

When we arrived at the apartments 7/10/13 we were not greeted to nicely. We were escorted to the room to find the patio doors not locking on the ground floor, so we asked to be moved as we wouldn't have felt safe. While waiting we asked for some water at the bar, and there was none. There wasn't any milk for coffee, so we asked to have a couple of beers and was told they had one for us to share. We were then sent to another floor to find the room not cleaned from previous guests, facing on kitchen cupboard falling off as door opened, and the pool was dirty. The kitchen surfaces were dirty and had to be scrubbed before we could use them. Staff were not approachable when trying to complain. Asked on a few occasions for them to call an OntheBeach rep and was refused. Was told to do it myself, which i tried to do and wiped out all my credit on my mobile phone. When i said this to the manager, he basically said that it was too bad. We stayed there until the morning of the 10/10 thinking things would improve. At night we had to walk up a very dimly lit spiral staircase as the reception doors were locked at night. I was there on holiday with a friend another female we just didn't feel very safe. To top it off we had found some sort of roaches in our beds. We stayed there until the morning of the 10/10 thinking things would improve, but clearly didn't. As we couldn't get a hold of anyone from Onthebeach and were told by the manager to (excuse my french) [--] off, we paid only pennies so what did we expect. I did tell him that i expected a friendly atmosphere, a clean room and nice staff. He said again that if we weren't happy just to leave so we did. Lucky for us we knew other apartments (The Ka'an Apart) who were also part of Onthebeach, so we headed straight for there at the extra cost of £100 (£10 per night for the room). I really don't know what we would have done if we didn't get a room there. The thought of being stranded in Marmaris scared us. Definately will not go back there ever.

I knew the flat would be basic for the price, as I am a middle aged seasoned traveller, having been to Turkey many times, but nothing could prepare me for this.
On arrival we were shown to a basic flat on the second floor, this was a disappointment as I had requested a top floor, quiet room & this room was far from quiet with the staff bellowing at each other over the pool area. The furniture was shabby, tap broken, bedding looked unclean and the whole place felt unloved. Even the lights on the hotel entrance were broken. The next morning we checked out the kitchenette, we expected basic but the worktop was split, crockery was missing or broken. I was worried about this as there was a large list detailing fees that would be demanded if items were missing or broken. We took this to reception and the young man on the desk said to ignore it. He then seemed more interested in playing computer games then sorting the breakfast that we ordered. (we never did get the coffee.) When we did manage to engage him, he appeared to be either sleep deprived or on drugs. He then talked about the “[--] apartment” in a jokey manner. Hardly the most professional of language. Bizarrely he was overseeing a bar that sold nothing as there was no water or beer.
By chance our rep (I didn’t even know we had one) appeared & was disgruntled that he’d not seen us earlier. Apparently we had missed a meeting with him, as detailed in the welcome pack, however we did not get or expect a welcome pack. We spoke to the rep about the crockery list, the lack of warm water & broken washbasin tap but heard no more. He had promised to leave a telephone number but didn’t.
Other the next few days we asked the staff to turn on the hot water, change the towels and empty the bin (full of used toilet tissue) Each time they said they’d do it but didn’t. Basically they lied to us and also said that we’d have to buy our own toilet roll when it ran out. In 4 days I managed only two tepid (not warm) showers. My husband and I then decided that we would empty the used tissue bin ourselves, bagging it up and take that & the dirty towels to reception and ask them to issue clean ones. The manager then appeared and was threatening to me, trying to get me in a room alone with him. Despite being an old battle axe I was now rattled, I shudder to think how young girls would handle him. He shouted that we should move hotels if we wanted better.
On top on this we slept only once in four nights as the hotel was very noisy with guests but also with staff shouting in the corridors. The final straw was someone attempting to break into the room and leaving a trail of blood on the floor. (which was never cleaned up) By now we actually feared for our safety, especially as the manager had threatened me previously.
After 4 nights of little sleep, in a filthy flat with rare hot water, we packed our bags and went to Club Armar.

I got a reasonable price as i booked the room two months in advance. Only good if you get a very cheap room rate. Other than this its all below standard.
Poor bathroom cleaning. The drain pipe was chocked so water was clogged as one takes the shower. The shower cabin was so small that one cant move when taking a shower. No room cleaning was done. Toilet tissue paper was on money not free. Room fridge was not working properly. The payment option shown in the website includes credit card but at the checkout i was told that they do not have any card option. Euro conversion to Turkish Lira was also charged more than the market rate. Its only for those who prefer back packer style and if they get a very cheap room rate.

Room Tip: Think before opting this hotel??????

Mustis, well what can i say ! The most friendly helpful staff, jimmy, sedat, smiley, jello, the owner jello only took the place over six months ago and trying so hard to make this place his own, yeah not 100 % perfect , but hes approachable if you have a problem, the bedding was clean and the pool was kept well, good luck jello with all you do and having a good staff behind him is half the battle, glad we met you all :)) food also very good, they have a great chef
