Lunamar Apartments Marmaris

Just got back from two weeks at the Lunamar Apartments, Marmaris. Booked via Thomas Cook.

First impressions where not great. However our family of four, consisting of two 16 year old teenagers, my wife Jackie and I had a great holiday both in the Lunamar and in Marmaris and met some very nice people and families at the hotel and in Marmaris.

The hotel location is wonderful, situated on the edge of the wooded hills that surround Marmaris giving some stunning views from our balcony both in the morning and at night of the hills around Marmaris and the bay.

All the Staff, including reception, bar staff and maids are great, helpful and very friendly. The rooms got cleaned every day.

The bar / food service opens at 0800. The food is good value and available up to 2300. The English coffee is Nescaffe, however it is the complimentary tubes you get free in hotels,

We had breakfast, snacks, lunch ect at the hotel bar unless we were day tripping. We got our water, bread, melons and fruit from the local supermarket and fruit shop and dined out in the many restaurants on the water front in the evening, What a great location that is!

There are two swimming pools either side of the bar, one for young children and has a water slide that everyone uses and one big deeper bigger pool. The water was always clean and clear and unlike other hotels, there was no sign of suntan location in the pool at the end of the day.

The Lunamar it is only a short 5 minute walk from the local shops, excellent Supermarket, fruit shop Mosque, cafes and lively Musties restaurant and bar.

Four bus routes run into the centre of Marmaris and the waterfront from here every couple of minutes at a cost of 2 lira per person. So along with a fantastic location local shops there is the very easy access to Marmaris.

All four bus routs drop of and pick in the same place, the centre of Marmaris by the fountain so there is no problem in getting back to the hotel.

The only down side is that there is a short steep hill leading up to the hotel as mentioned in the Thomas Cook broacher.

The hotel has its own shop that stocks toilet roll, washing powder, milk plus soft drinks, beer, snacks ect. It does cost more than the local Supermarket. The local Supermarket sells 5 litres of water for 1.5 lira and fresh bread plus anything else you will need.

Yes, you do have to buy your own toilet roll!

There is also a Turkish Bath, massage and barbers on site. Very good facilities,. . We had a sauna, mud bath, Turkish bath, foam bath and aromatherapy massage on the first day.

My wife also had a facial marrarge and I had haircut and Turkish during our stay. Independent from the hotel but very much part of it and always busy.

The internet and wifi are also available.

Thomas Cook.

Our Thomas Cook rep Georgina was at the hotel five days a week and as per her schedule.

She has helpful and arranged my Scuba diving at Paradise Diving Centre. However the cost was agreed at £80 and this was taken from our debit card. Thomas Cook then took £87 out of my bank. I am still to find out why.

The transfers to and from the airport where bang on time and well organised with a halfway house stop on both. Be advised to have bottles of water available on both transfers. It is about 90 mins from the airport to Marmaris.

Avery enjoyable two weeks in the hotel and Marmaris. We did not want it to end.

Room Tip: For best views of the bay and surrounding hills, third and fourth floor. Close to Bar and pool firs...

Only down point is the hill, harder to get up in the heat, if ur pleasant to the bus drivers they will usually take u straight up to the top. Reception & bar staff are excellent and very friendly, view overlooking madrid is amazing. Pools are superb and a waterside for the children. Music at pool bar stops at midnight so u can get a good nite sleep if u don't want to party in town. Shop in hotel a bit expensive. Rooms were lovely and kept spotless by the friendly maids. Food at pool bar was gorgeous and not expensive. Just been home 2 days and would love to be back. A* holiday overall would definitely recommend hotel/ apartment and will be returning :)

i liked the hotel and the staff were helpful but not good enough for me to go back.... its too far away from the town and had to get buses everywhere, & the hill to the hotel is a nightmare to walk up haha!! I wouldnt go back there, but my brother has been there two yrs in a row and is going back there again this year, so i suppose its different for everyone..... but i highly reccomend "Club Julian" or "Julian Club" in marmaris, much better atmosphere and entertainment, had a fantastic holiday when we went there :) hope this has helped

Room Tip: we had a two room apartment and it was quite nice with a double balcony,

first time staying at club lunamar, and was amazing. Has to be the best holiday so far. The staff are friendly, entertaining, attentive. Reception staff are the only ones i would say dont speak much english and could require more training in customer services. The cleaners are fantastic and cleaned the rooms daily. Has two pools plus bar and internet cafe plus others.
