Got back last week from club seray, took my wife to celebrate our pearl wedding , we have been to turkey several times and knew what to expect ( so we thought ) yes the price was good, buts thats it !!!.
We have stayed in marmaris a few times before and the cost was less than the club seray and far superior in every way, on arrival the key and all-inclusive bracelet are thrown onto the desk at reception, you are not even given directions to your room, on entering our room (back facing) i turned around and went straight back to reception, simple i was not staying for 2wks in a room that was dirty/dark/had a dog outside, we therefore stood their for 3 hrs waiting for the manager to come and we were moved to the attic room, (a lot better).
After 3hrs sleep we arrived in the dining room for our first meal, oh dear !! dirty tables, burn holes in table clothes, filthy upholstery on the chairs, chipped plates etc,,food edible at most, chips, chips, and chips,
Small plastic cups for the drinks, the cheapest version of soft drinks money can buy, served warm from 2 litre bottles, one day sitting by the pool i watched for an hour a CAT eating the kebab meat that was being cooked on the burner in the poolside cafe, "jack" was only interested in selling cocktails for the night club or asking you for a cigarette "every day! yes some brits went over the top with drink, but hey were just young people on a all-inclusive, just enjoying themselves, SUMMARY-- DIRTY-RUBBISH-MONEY GRABBING- HORRIBLE HOTEL.

Room Tip: front facing room

me and my friend booked a cheap budget holiday to turkey all inclusive for 1 week. We were supposed to be staying in 'the seray hotel' but when we arrived at 2 oclock in the morning they told us that they were full and they didnt have a room for us before sending us to a hotel around the corner. we were so tired that we agreed to stay in the other hotel for one night only and they promised us a room the next night in the hotel we had booked to stay in. we went back the next morning to sort out a room to find that they were still claiming they were full. after wasting our first full day arguing with the staff the manager turned up and we got moved to the club seray forest where we were promised the biggest suite. This was not the case. the room was a good size and it was clean but it was nothing like the pictures we had been shown. We weren't too bothered as we hadnt paid much for this holiday so aslong as the room was clean it wasnt a massive problem. however, even though we didnt expect a luxury five star hotel for our money we expected to feel safe and to be treat with respect which didnt happen at all. the staff could hardly speak english and a lot of the time were disgustingly rude, the woman serving at the bar didnt not say a word and made you feel very uncomfortable but the biggest problem of all was every night when we arrived home after being out at about 3.am the two men on reception hassled us to talk to them etc. when we said no and got up to our room they would ring us on our hotel room phone. Also, the hotel entertainment guy was horrendously rude and pervy to us one of the nights when he made a comment about our boobs and which ones he liked and which ones he didnt. the food was horrible, yes i understand that you are in turkey and it is turkish food but that wasnt the problem, the food, turkish or not, was very poor and didnt even look safe to eat. I stuck to chips all of the time but we ended up eating out a lot which kind of defeated the object of being all inclusive. The pool bar serves food but is not inclusive so you have to pay but i will say that the chef who serves at the pool bar is very polite and friendly. the only way to describe this hotel is 'shameless' but in a hotel. we didnt have a problem with the guests really but we kept our selves to our selves as we had heard there had been some fighting going on before we arrived and they weren't the sort of people you would like to upset. the alcohol wasnt watered down but it was the cheap stuff which isnt the end of the world. they dont have proper cola, sprite or fanta which we struggled with as it didnt taste great but it wasnt a major dilemma. Overall, i would not recommend this hotel for two young girls or even a group of girls in a million years. we didnt feel safe atall, reception were there to look after us and keep us safe and even they were hassling us and it was quite worrying to think they had a key to our room. I think if you are going to stay in turkey, spend a bit more for a decent hotel as you are likely to get messed around with rooms etc which ultimately spoils your holiday.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at Seray Forest Hotel in marmaris. Having read the reviews we were a little worried but we need not have been. It was possibly the best holiday we have had!

We arrived at about 2.00am and were given a room with the mountain at the back, and as advised next day asked for a front facing room, which we were given straight away. The room was spotlessly clean, and cleaned daily with frequent towel and sheet changes. The location was as expected, half an hour from the beach and centre of Marmaris, with the free bus shuttle.
So far no problems :)

We went down to breakfast and was pleasantly surprised, yes there is no English Fry up, but why should there be? The Turkish breakfast was refreshing and a delight to eat, lunch and dinner, we had no problems with, yes a lot of chicken dishes, but I did not know chicken could be cooked so many different ways. And the afternoon cakes...... just a dream. The guys in the kitchen under chef Memet worked hard and produced tasty meals.

The local drinks are free until 11pm when you then have to pay at the bar. The bar in the Disco.... an abolutely great place to have fun. The staff there headed by Vedat go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. If you want to have fun, you can. The Disco stayed open until 4 or 5 in the morning and even at that time the staff are so helpful, especially when you consider that the same guys are working lunch time around the pool!

The pool was cool, very clean and the water slide was lush. We played water polo a couple of times, a great time really.

The entertainment was varied, I even won at Bingo one night. The same Disco Vedat is also in charge of the entertainment, and my friend and I had a really good holiday thanks to the staff at this hotel. A special thanks to Vedat for all the efforts and the amazing cocktails he makes :)

The only thing that lets the hotel down, and this is not their fault, is the quality of some of the guests. I have never heard so many stupid compaints... it's too hot. duh, dont go on holiday in June then! A lot of British guests prop the bar up and towards the end of the night get argumentative, it didn't spoil our holiday, we were so well looked after by the staff, but the moaning minnies should stay away.

We had a sauna, which was bliss and my friend had a small tattoo done at the Tattoo Studio, a lasting reminder of our holiday in Marmaris.

Please don't be put off by the bad reviews, left by miserable people. A holiday is
what you make of it, and my friend and I had a wonderful time, in a very clean hotel, with lovely food, but without the staff, it would have been just an average holiday. So thanks all you guys at Seray Forest, with a special thank you to the boss-man Vedat, we will be back next year.

Take a chance here and you could have a really wonderful holiday :) and say hi to all the guys from us

Room Tip: rooms at the front have a beautiful view

My husband and i, have been visiting marmaris for 10 years with our 3 children so knew what to expect of turkey in general.
On arrival (2am) we were simply handed a room key, and with no help, proceeded to our room. Firstly, it was overlooking a mountain, very dark, and was facing the hotels guard dog (a HUGE rotweiler). we went to sleep and next day requested a change of room. We were moved to a sea view pool view room, which was spacious and clean.
The hotel food left a bit to be desired. There were chips every day, and some kind of chicken each meal time. not great, but edible. There is no way it is 4 star standard. The first week was great, not too many guests, so plenty of sunbeds etc. moving to week 2, hundreds of turkish families arrived, and the atmosphere changed, food became terrible, same stuff each meal time, and the last 4 days, there was nothing we could eat.
Drinks were OK, definatley not watered down as some people have stated, but beer wasnt Efes, it was a cheap pilsner, and there were coke, fanta, sprite, juice etc for kids and coffee machines 24 hours.
My husband injured his neck, and was in hospital for 3 days, and there was no help or interpreteur for him. luckily we have turkish friends that helped us.
The turkish bath on site was fab...Dave, the manager, was brilliant. good with kids and give us a good package for our turkish bath.
The tattoist on site zelha, is amazing, i had 5 hours of work with her, and she really is good, would defo reccomend her. cheap prices too.
If you want cheap and cheerful, this place is for you. If you are a fussy eater, then pack some pot noodles.
It is quite a way to the centre, but the hotel runs a free shuttle bus each morning to Dora beach. an amazing place.
All in all, we had a good holiday, met some good people but i wouldnt go back.. Turkish night at the hotel (a tenner each) was a complete bag of s***.
Bar was open from 10am till 11pm, after which time you can buy cocktails, but one get one free for 10 lira (about £3.80) and they are really good.
The pool was clean and tidy, and my kids loved the waterslides.
Came home and have lost 8 pound in weight...mainly due to the food. We didnt pay much to go, but you still expect it to cater for english people...not always the case.
Not the best holiday weve had, but have certainly stayed in worse places. you get what you pay for. we got more than our moneys worth with drinks (4 adults and 3 kids) as it was sooooo hot, all we did all day was drink cola.
The maids were good, and our room was spotless every day, with clean bedding and towels each day.
not a terrible place, but not the best either. if you want 4 star standard (even in turkey) you wont get it here, but its a break and your holiday is what you make it. just done expect the hilton x

Room Tip: ask for a front facing room..views are amazing

Just got back from a 2 week stay at club seray forest. The bathroom was dirty and almost the rest of the room. When we arrived there was a steep hill and we got no assistance what so ever. If you are planning on going then please take the safe option and spend most of your time there away from the hotel. Also the air condition did not work for one night and for another no running water no have a shower. Also they have a stupid dog round the back which let's just say it does not help you get to sleep. Also they give you silly very small plastic cups to drink all alcoholic drinks out no matter what the time. We as a family have been on many holidays abroad but hand on my heart this is the worst in the world, we complained both to the rep and to the company that we booked with when we got home, this went on for ages. stay away from this dump.

We were looking for a cheap package holiday so we ended up booking this place with Jet 2 as it was the cheapest we could find in the Marmaris area. I did my homework and we were fully aware of what to expect, i.e. distance from the beach, food, local amenities, all-inclusive drinks etc etc.
My family and I had a lovely holiday and we were neither disapppointed or surprised during our stay in Turkey. People must be realistic about their expectations from such a cheap holiday.
Our transfer from the airport took less than an hour and a half, not the 3 hours as some people have stated; although I suppose it all depends on the tour operator. Upon arrival at the hotel, the reception staff were very helpful and promptly issued us with our room keys. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was exceptionally clean. We were put in a room at the back of the hotel. The view at the back is not very pleasant, the staff were prepared to move us if we wanted but we were happy as we couldn't hear the rowdiness that we would've heard had we stayed at the front. The room was also cleaned to a very high standard every day throughout our stay and clean towels and linen were provided daily.
The food was ok. We appreciated that we were in Turkey and not in Blackpool, and so expected Turkish food. We were prepared to eat elsewhere should there be nothing there to suit our taste but this wasn't necessary as there was always something on offer for us. We ate in Marmaris once just because we fancied a change from the hotel.
The location of the hotel is not ideal, but we knew this before travelling so we were not surprised by this. However, access into town by bus is so cheap and the hotel even put on free transport to the beach. To be honest, if you fancy a walk, which we did most nights to get away from the vile people in the hotel (more later); it really isn't that far to all the bars, restaurants etc and is actually quite nice. The beach is only a 25min walk too.
The only downside of our holiday were the other British guests that stayed there. From day 1 all we heard we heard was complaint after complaint after complaint, about the food, all inclusive drinks, rudeness of staff, everything! I've mentioned the food already. The drinks in my opinion were very good value. People need to consider again how much they've paid for the holiday and how much they'd spend on drinks daily if they were self catering. The staff could not be more helpful, it all depends on how you speak to them in the 1st place. I'm always polite and courteous and I was treated accordingly. Wish I could say the same about my fellow British guests! I found most of the time that the other British guests were too wasted on the all-inclusive drinks to know whether they were enjoying themselves or not.
To summarise, please do your research about this place before booking and be realistic about your expectations. If you do this then I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I found that too many people expected 5 star treatment for £300ish holiday. If you want 5 star treatment, be prepared to pay 5 star prices!

Room Tip: The rooms at the front have a better view and the staff will do all that they can to accommodate you...

On arrival allocated a room at 12.00am only to find on opening the door the room hadn't been cleaned. Returned to reception and was allocated another room (apartment) which was ok and spacious. Hotel had 2 lifts one of which was very noisy when in use so if your room is nearby tuff luck! No hot water in our room after 6pm so ended up complaining on 4 separate days.
Pool was ok, majority of sun lounges were split or damaged. No snacks available after lunch only specific times. Breakfast didn't include the usual ie bacon, sausage & eggs etc only cereal, fruit and boiled eggs and Turkish food. Dinner also poor, not a very good selection, ended up having chicken & rice most nights. Servers all very young, friendly and service given average to say the least.
Night entertainment was very poor and some scheduled entertainers didn't even turn up.
Hotel is located on a hill about 2 miles to the beach, transport supplied by hotel. Disappointed with Thompsons for having this hotel on their books and i would suggest that they review it as a matter of urgency. Even other hotel guests were shouting to new arrivals "welcome to hell" hence my title for this review. Please think twice and ignore any previous good reviews.
