Canelands has one of the most spectacular views I have ever experienced at dinner- literally right on the beach!
The huge sliding glass doors mean that whether you eat out on the deck or inside the restaurant you still feel like you are dining on a private beach. All the tables are decorated with candles making it an ideal spot for a romantic celebration, or an excellent spot for celebratory group meals too!
The staff are laidback and friendly but always ready with a recommendation on food and wines.
The wine list is quite small but has a selection picked by the chef Stu- who is very well versed in wines, he seems to rotate wine selection a lot so there is always a little known gem ready to be tasted! The wines are all well priced too.

The menu itself is an absolute treat! With a range of South African dishes- fresh tuna starter and Springbok main to die for! And divine duck and lamb which I cannot get enough of. Canelands also has the old favourites, Steak and Chips etc. The Chef is truly fantastic and more than willing to make you up something a bit off menu for the kids if the printed menu is a bit "grown up" for their tastes.

I cannot stress enough, if Stu is working you must speak to him about food and wine pairings, an absolute fountain of knowledge he loves chatting with guests about the best way to enjoy food!

I keep going back to Canelands, there really is no rival in the local area! Best in KZN!

Lunch on the terrace...great view...but the food....We had the worst piece of grilled line fish we have ever had. It was not grilled(it looked boiled) the presenation was bad.
One of the worst meals we have had on our travels.
We did not stay at the hotel.
