The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The dinners are amazing - great combinations of flavours and often local produce. The views are the best of the village. Private garden with private bar. Highly recommended!

You have probably looked at the Torrecerredo website already and, if a first timer, maybe are not quiet sure what to make of it and whether the hotel is for you. Don't worry, just book up, turn up and relax. Jim, Pilar, Nicholas and the rest of the lovely staff will look after you right from the booking process to the time when you have to leave Hotel Torrecerredo. The hotel has been previously described as 'Quirky' but don't let that put you off - that is a compliment as it reflects the love and care and personality that Jim and Pilar have put in to the hotel and the way it is run. You are probably considering walking in the Picos (maybe with Exodus) and this is an excellent base for just that. Well situated with knowledgeable hosts who will go out of their way to enhance your stay and walking experience. 'Going the extra mile' is a hackneyed phrase but they really do that here. Stayed in May as part of an Exodus walking week (sorry its taken so long to get round to reviewing) and it was an excellently organised experience from start to finish. We are ignoring the poor flight timing arrival at Asturias airport which meant an arrival at the hotel at 1am as that was down to Exodus and not the hotels fault. Top marks to Alvaro for doing the late transport and adapting the weeks itinerary to suit the weather conditions.
The food is good and wholesome with great choice for breakfast, supplied packed lunches and evening meals. Do have seconds and then thirds of the Fabada Asturiana as it will be the best you will get in Spain. Drinks are reasonably priced with Rioja from €8 or so. The bar adjacent to reception stocks a varied supply of spirits and liqueurs and with draft beer on tap what more could a thirsty walker ask for. Coffee is also available. Those lucky enough to enjoy fine weather will find plenty of outside space to drink in the awesome views.
One could be picky and say that some parts of the accommodation could do with some TLC and a bit of a refresh but the overall score of 5 above does reflect the overall experience.

Room Tip: Best mountain views from south facing rooms on the upper floor (rooms prefixed 2...) but north facin...

If you like stupendous views, delicious meals, knowledgeable hosts that can tell you all you need to know about hiking in the Picos, then this is the place for you. An ecologically friendly place with the best views of the Picos, just a short walk past the downtown.

First of all my friend and I are not 5 star hotel (think Hilton type places) kind of people, we like simple places with character, a great location and helpful hosts, this place had all that and much more!

We were told by a local mountain guide, that this was the best place for us in Cabrales de Arena and he was right, (as we like fresh food and lots of information about the areas we visit). Owners Pilar and Jim, were so helpful and friendly with our questions about where to hike and how to go about getting there. Jim wrote an informative guide book to Northern Spain and Pilar was a professional guide in the Picos for many years. Pilar spent much time pouring over maps with us and even drove us and other guests to some trailheads. She also loaned me one of their sheets to take to our overnight stay at a refugio when she heard I did not have one!

The price for the stay was very reasonable, the rooms were simple, but clean, bright and cute. We thought we might not have much hot water, as they use solar for heating, but surprisingly, the water was very hot and pressure was over the top strong, great for after a long day of hiking. The views of the Picos on one side of the hotel are stunning and the garden sitting area is lovely with a tinkling fountain, fish pond and bright flowers.

Much of the food is grown on the premises and we ate more fresh vegetables than we did at any other location were we stayed while visiting northern Spain. The breakfast bar was definitely the BEST, with lots of choices of foods and they will cook fresh eggs for you. Dinners were a bit pricy, but well done, creative and fresh in a pleasant dinning hall. Wine selection was excellent as well.

Clearly much time, effort and skill have been put into fixing up this old farmhouse to make it into a lovely and homey place to stay and the owners have a lot of love for the area. All of that added up to making for a wonderful visit and I cant recommend this place enough. I hope someday I can stay there again!

This is a slightly quirky hotel. Its not 5 star and doesn't claim to be, but it is very comfortable, provides good food and is run by people who know the real meaning of customer service. The people running it have a passion for the area and the Pico's de Europa. Its very good value for money. If you are looking for a walking holiday in the Pico's these people will help you get the best out of the area.

Room Tip: On the first floor at the front of the hotel you will get wonderful views of the high mountains

First discovered the Hotel Torrecerredo in April '13 and this was my second return visit in just a year. Same as before: great welcome, lovely room with superb mountain view, friendly easy-going atmosphere, beautiful terrace garden in which to drink-in the view, the flowers, the birds and the beer. Evening dinners are exceptionally fine, most welcome after tiring days in the mountains. And a good plus-point for motorcyclists: the parking is safe, flat and well-surfaced. Pilar and Jim could not have been more helpful hosts.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the mountain-facing rooms (numbers 217 and 216 are great)

As a mountaineer ( for fiftyish years) I'm almost ashamed to admit I knew nothing of Los Picos de Europa - a stunning vertical land of limestone, carved with dramatic river gorges but with myriad easy trails to work your way around and through the dramatic countryside.
We were based in this warm, welcoming hotel for a week on a walking tour with Exodus holidays. The rooms were bright and always clean. Bathrooms with powerful, wonderful showers.
Management and staff were ALL alert, helpful and cheery and we enjoyed the meals they prepared for us: Buffet breakfasts with a choice of how the freshly-cooked eggs arrived, packed lunches and an interesting array of alternatives for the evening meals.
We ate out twice - just for the change - in a nearby restaurant mere minutes' walk away, on the recommendation of Jim, the Hotel owner.
The hotel utilises its restaurant windows and its garden spaces outside the downstairs bar area for visitors to get the best views of the picos.
Our room, on the other side of the hotel, faced onto wild flower meadows and other attractive hills. No complaint, there.
So.... Great hotel, great location with the biggest variety of wild flowers we have seen (early May) with the burgeoning promise of even more to flower throughout summer.
We had the services of a great local guide (Alvaro) who knew every nook and cranny, the name of every blossom and bush... and all the geology, history etc of the region - with transport (to/from the trail starts and ends) laid on seamlessly.

We'd happily return next week!
