Pretty much like every other review of this hotel. Great for a one nighter, basic and clean. Location very good for the Battlefields.

The host was very pleasant and helpful.

My visit was 'off season', so i decided to walk to the town...i did not see one person, and the town centre was deserted. So, off season either take some food and/or drive to Oustreham down the road.

This hotel was inexpensive, so good value for money really.

Room Tip: Go for the superior en suite room

I stayed here for 1 night in Dec.2012. This was purely for convenience. I had an early morning ferry to catch from nearby Ouistreham (6mins drive), and wanted to avoid having to set out at 5am from my home near Mayenne, so decided to stay the night before in a near-port hotel. Spoke to the owner on the phone beforehand. Very jovial, but I was a bit taken aback to be told there'd be no one on duty on my arrival (8pm approx) - he told me that a side door would be open, and that I should simply go upstairs & find the key in the door of my room. This worked ok, except that when I then went out to eat, the heavy & slightly wonky side gate shut on my finger, which remains a bit bruised. Not to worry, the room, although very basic, was reasonably clean & had a decent en suite loo & shower. The arrangement for paying was a bit 'unusual' - simply to leave cash on a bedside table. There was no one around when I departed at around 7:15am (perhaps there would have been if I'd gone for the breakfast option?) Would I stay there again? Probably, but only in similar circumstances, just for convenience. I booked it through booking.com. Next time I'll do it direct with the owner.

Although on the main road there was little traffic and the double glazing reduced the road noise. Basic room had a seperately toilet and shower which was nice. Bathroom had more room than most. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpfull and freezed our cold packs for the eski every day.
The hotel is one block from the sea front with some amazing large houses along the promenade. They also have some larger family rooms out the back opening onto the garden area.

The hotel was pretty much average to be honest. We stayed in room 17 (the room with the balcony), which was in the annexe, just across the road. Our room was much to cramped for three people, and was obviously meant to be a twin room as one of us had to sleep on a camp bed (which blocked the balcony doors and kept falling apart). It was alright, but the corners of the room were quite grubby and there were stains on my sheet. Luckily, instead of one duvet, there was a quilt with a blanket underneath it, then the sheet. The en-suite bathroom was quite clean, although the shower was very small and the hairdryer was in a very awkward place (to use it you had to stand on the toilet). As our room was at the front of the building, we heard all of the traffic quite loudly. The food was reasonable, and the bread was very nice, but there were no croissants at breakfast. As I stayed in the annexe, I don't know how nice the actual hotel was. A week there was bearable as it is fairly close to lots of tourist attractions, but I suspect it would be better as a one night stop off after getting off a ferry in Ouistreham. Also, if the main door of the annexe seemed to unlocked most of time and the keys for the rooms are just left in the doors.

We came from Paris and what struck the students immediately was how friendly the atmosphere was. The rooms are perfect for them and the owners understand that 13 year old students need familiar food (roast chicken one night and lasagne the next). The fabulous beach is 2 minutes away and the coach had its own parking place. I was also given wifi access. The hotel is two sites almost opposite each other and this was only an issue when it decided to rain on us on the beach and so socialising was limited - BUT, it was my fault as the hotel owner had offered the key to the dining room earlier when the weather was fine.

If going there as a family, then I would say, again that it is a great place to stay, but apart from the beach, it is a residential area and no bars or shops, so you would need a car.

Room Tip: There are a couple of newly furnished rooms (converted out-buildings) which are newly fitted out and...

We arrived and were welcomed by the friendly owners of this little place. Very tiny room but very clean and comfortable. Definitely a good deal considering the price. I would not have stayed there for a long stay as the rooms are very tiny, but it was perfect for one night. Good and affordable breakfast. Good Wifi connection as well.

we stayed at the hotel le canada for one night after coming off the ferry at Ouistreham- the taxi to the hotel cost 18 euros so would have been better to stay at Ouistreham which has a good selection of restaurants and fish stalls selling the local catch. The hotel room (number 5) was clean and pretty but cramped with no coffee or tea making facilities- which we would have appreciated after arriving late at night. The bed was too soft and sagged in the middle, and the shower cubicle was tired and minute- I felt as if I was wearing the shower. Not cheap at 45 euros for the night, but adequate.
