We have just had a fantastic weekend at Bivouac! We went as a family (me, my wife, 2 daughters aged 14 & 9 and a friend of my youngest daughter also aged 9) and stayed in a "shack" which is amazing! Placed in the woods the shacks are a mixture of shabby chic, upcycling and a log cabin made with reclaimed wood. The girls thought it was a brilliant place to stay! Everything is provided that you would need to stay for the weekend from tea lights (no electric but that makes it even more special) to toilet roll and a bottle opener!

The beds are comfortable (a king, a double and 3 singles) with plenty of quirkiness on 3 levels. With a shower (heated by the log burner) and toilet, it is a magical home from home! We didn't light the log burner as it was too warm to have it running. The showers in the main area (10 min walk) where spotlessly clean and didn't run out of hot water with all five of us together and others at the same time!

The on site cafe serves local beer, wine and the usual soft drinks but also offers a premium range such as San Pelligrino and Fentemans! George who manages the cafe is most helpful and thoughtful and really makes the place. The food was really good with quick and attentive service. The cakes were amazing! My eldest couldn't get enough of the Chocolate cheesecake and the 2 younger ones the chocolate brownies! My favourite was the Tunisian Orange cake!

All the staff were really helpful, considerate and informative and made you feel welcome!

It's a great base for exploring the area, with Masham (don't pronounce the"h") and Bedale. The Forbidden Corner is a great place to visit but book by phone as they have a better availability than online.

All in all its was a brilliant weekend with the highlights being the shack, George and the Forbidden Corner.

We would all recommend and will be booking again soon.

Just home after spending 3 nights at the Yurts on a trip to Yorkshire to hopefully catch some of the TDF. We hired 2 yurts for our families and as soon as we were taken to them were delighted with them. An eclectic mix of re-cycled and handmade furniture along with cheery bunting made a lovely home for our stay.
On Saturday we walked to Masham to see the Tour and the Bivouac had organised a BBQ and live music for the campsite - perfect. After a great day out it was fantastic to return to a very good quality meal along with super music from a young group of very talented musicians - a real treat, and for the hungrier there were plenty of seconds.
The layout is excellent and the showers and toilet areas were first class, with lots of hot water and heated floors. They also allow you to charge phones etc at the reception and the café. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Thanks to everyone. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay and we hope to return.
The Scott & Henderson Party

Room Tip: Try some of the delicious food in the café - amazing sausages and sticky toffee pudding to die for!

We stayed as a big group taking over most of the outdoor shacks. The beds were comfy, the rooms thoughtfully designed and in a great location for walks with our myriad of kids. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food just lovely. We had afternoon tea for mothers day which was wonderful all with vintage china and flowers for all the mums. Just the best place to stay.

We stayed in the Bunk Barn it was everything we needed. Very clean and well equipped. We ate in the cafe and was very impressed by the home cooked food. We hired the fantastic Bee to do the cocktail making and had the top section of the cafe area to have our own private party. We hired a fire pit and sat outside until 2am in the knowledge that we where far enough away from the yurt field not too upset anyone by making too much noise. We then did pottery painting on Saturday morning - everyone really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it.

What a fantastic, lovely venue and location. It was perfect for our unique hen party experience. We stayed in the bunk barn which was very comfortable, close to the cafe and shower/toilet block and had an abundance of games to keep us occupied.

The staff exceeded our expectations. George organised a cocktail making evening on the first night and afternoon tea the following day. The staff couldn't have been more hospitable and the food was gorgeous.

Overall, a very memorable weekend and ideal for families, couples and groups. We look forward to returning.
