“The only place to stay”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

The hotel places a high value of its customer security, with guards at the gates and provision of secure transport to its new annex, located some 700meters from the main hotel. Rooms in the new annex are spacious and well designed. Excellent dining room with good food and conscientious staff. Some first class artifacts (not like airport) on display. Politicians and businessmen stay here. Visit Cape Wom where the Japanese military surrendered in 1945, visit the old Japanese command centre at Boys Town, but only do so with local guides and security personnel.

Room Tip: try the new annex.

What a great surprise this hotel was, like a paradise in the town. Spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. Very friendly, welcoming and professional staff. The verandah with s comfortable furniture and great ocean views is a bonus.
The restaurant was also a pleasant surprise with good service and tasty food, the servings are huge, only one course required. The pool is excellent, wifi works well as does the airconditioning.
The Manager, Sam is most helpful as well.
Highly recommended place to stay.

Very nice hotel.
The restaurant food is very good, especially the dinner restaurant. The staff was always nice and friendly. The rooms was clean and comfy, with an AC and TV.
There is also a nice and clean pool, more for lingering than actually swimming.

Hotel is spotless. Beds are comfortable. Great in-room coffee, tea, and hot chocolate plus laundry service and showers are fabulous after a trip to the Sepik River. Friendly and professional staff are accommodating to individual needs. The verandah is lovely with fresh flowers on the tables, a tropical view of the Bismark Sea, and it is shelter-perfect when watching the awesome in-coming rainstorms. (Morning coffee and happy hours drinks are great additions to the verandahs as well. The saltwater pool is clean and refreshing. Restaurants were good. (They found the wine we preferred and had extra on ice for us.) After our drive around Wewak, it seemed to be the #1 place to stay. (Our Frontier Adventures Outfitter Chris Karis recommended it. Great choice, Chris!)

Room Tip: If you are on a budget, get a room on the ground floor and use the upstairs verandah to relax!

I live in Port Moresby and I am used to ridiculously priced accomodation with an unpleasant experience in Port Moresby hotels which claim to be anything over 2 stars. In Wewak Boutique Hotel was a pleasant surprise the moment I stepped into the reception. The staff were friendly and pleasant and would always greet us with welcoming smiles, the hotel was tastefully decorated with photographs of neighbouring islands and flora and fauna and traditional artifacts native to the East Sepik Province. The food is delicious and served in generous portions. The only downside experienced was that they got the laundry mixed up and a helpful suggestion to the management would be that ALL deluxe rooms should have double beds, you should not be made to pay more if you want a double bed in a "deluxe" room, single beds should only be placed in single bed budget rooms.

Room Tip: Room 1 is spacious and can fit a double bed and two single beds for a small family it also has amazi...

I recently stayed at the Boutique Hotel for a total of two nights before and after a trip on the Sepik river. As long as you are happy to pay the tariff then you will get a western experience in a frontier town. Their extensive local art and artefact collection is of very high quality - though (I believe) not for sale.

Room Tip: Try and book a seaside room - its on the nicer side of the hotel.

Best place in town and the staff are delightful. When you return from 72 hours in the buggy Sepik region, with no AC, electricity or modern conveniences for awhile, this place becomes the Four Seasons. The restaurants Re both good, the WiFi is very good, and their bed linens are great.

Room Tip: Best place in town and the staff are delightful.
