“Wonderful unique worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013

La Garenne is one of those places that you really need to visit. We have been coming here for years (at least 12+ years) and it is awesome.
Not haute cuisine, but atmosphere, open fires, good solid French classics and wonderful hosts.
The palce reeks of charm and character.
Love it.

“"La Garenne"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2013

This restaurant was recommended in the guest book of the Gite we stayed in - By other guests. We were not disappointed!!! The atmosphere is something else - Quirky to say the least. The food however was fabulous - Fresh and very well presented and the staff were courteous & friendly. Lunch-time they serve a 2 course for 12euro and 3 course for 14euro. (included in this is a complimentary small starter plus crusty rolls) The local Rose' was 7euro 35 for three large glasses while 3 small bottles of Leffe were 16euro50. The Rose' was perfectly acceptable. This is our 2nd.visit to this restaurant and we will definately be back.

“Fantastic Food - Attentive Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2013

Six of us went for Sunday lunch and ate from the 25 Euro menu.
We had a wide selection of starters, mains and sweets.
From seafood, through fish to poultry and steaks.
Huge selection of wines - from the very expensive end through to exceptional house wine by the pitcher for less than 7 Euro.
The owners, chef and waiters are wonderful and patient with non-French speakers - Added bonus the menu is also in English.
The fixtures, fittings, artwork and other things curiosities, such as mannequins give the restaurant a warm and inviting feel. The main restaurant area has a wonderful wood burning eye level fire.
Beware the portions are very generous and consider carefully your choices if watching your figure! You will not have the disipline to leave a single morsel.
A dining experience beautifully presented for good value.
If with 50km - Give it a go - You will not be disappointed.

“Excellent atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2012

Really quirky spot - we visited just after Halloween and the decor was quite something!

Food was very good - if not quite as ourtstanding as La Breteche in Hesdin - and the wine list excellent, particularly for Bordeaux (as the name suggests.) Service very good, and the atmosphere was great, with open log fire.

“November 3rd Saturday lunch at La Garenne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2012

Fabulous food, impeccable service. The charming staff had a 50 plus birthday to contend with in the main dining area, two smaller dining areas, with 18 of us divided between the two rooms, roaring fire, warm people and Eva the charming Boxer wandering around after service finished. Food: great Chicken with wild mushrooms and a sauce to die for, and salmon roulade, amazing. Fresh well cooked vegetables(by that I mean perfectly blanched green beans, crispy sweet cauliflower and perfect potatoes, nothing over cooked). Puds fab, pear and chocolate tarte (Homer Simpson ggggguuurrr drool), and frozen lemon souffle with triple sec liqueur. At 14 Euro per head, (price excluding good house wine by the caraffe,) foodies, worth a visit.
