“Lovely family holiday cottage in rural France”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We had a lovely time, the cottage is well appointed with a massive garden, ideal for the children to run around in.

Good kitchen with every thing you could need. There were loads of UK plug adapters in the house. There is A Sky box for which you will need your own Sky card, the box is old and cannot receive HD channels.

Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water.

Close to Hesdin, which has 2 good supermarkets.

It's very rural and so quiet at night, we had a really great time here.

“Relaxing break just what we were after!”
Reviewed 18 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We stayed at Laurel House for 4 nights in April 2014 with our 2 small children who are 8 and 5. Both of the children enjoyed the large garden and the sports equipment that was available for them to use. For us the location was ideal, under 1 hrs drive from Calais, close to historic sites such as Bethune, Agincourt etc good local market in Hesdin and local shops within walking distance. The kitchen, bedrooms, lounge and bathroom etc were all well furnished. The family staying at primrose cottage which shares the driveway and garden were very nice too. I've noticed a few comments about lack of wi-fi at Laurel house and in an ideal world this would be important however I had no problems using the 3G on my iPhone and linking our iPads to this signal. In all a very enjoyable stay just what we needed and we plan to return later in the year to use Laurel house as a base for future explorations...

“Enjoyable Stay”

Enjoyable Stay
My wife and son and daughter in law stayed here for a week in August 2013. The owners were very friendly and left us with a welcome pack containing wine, baquets and fruit. The house was lovely and very clean with everything we needed for our stay. It was so quiet and peaceful we could hardly sleep as we are used to living in a busy town.
Lots to see in the area and the beaches were only half an hour away. We hope to visit again. All in all an enjoyable stay.

“Property name changed to avoid old bad reviews”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 for a stay in October 2013

We visited this property as Jasmine Farmhouse in Oct 2013, the owners were called Pollock, and were badly let down with appalling internet connection even though we had paid extra, one 2 seat sofa in lounge for 3 of us (altough I note 2 new armchairs are in place) and the owners response was just to deny our issues!!!! I note from Trip Adviser that this property is now being displayed under the new name, but without the old bad reviews, nd feel this needs to be addressed, hence this comment. I hope they owners have taken on board our original issues, which they appear to some extent they appear to have done so although their original response was denial, but I urge people thinking of renting this property to look under Jasmine Farmhouse, near Hesdin, if still listed, or raise any specific needs/issues with the owner and ensure they are addressed with written confirmation.

Dear holiday maker sorry you were disappointed in your stay in October. We changed the name to avoid confusion with our other rental property. We have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years and we always take feedback from guests very seriously and we make continuable updates to the facilities. Rural France is far behind in technology compared to UK - this means the internet service is much slower. Many villages in this area have no internet access at all. As you can see, our other review is completely the opposite to yours and we feel their comments represent the actual standard of our accommodation.

“Enjoyable stay over the Christmas week”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

My wife, three children (17, 14 and 9), dog and myself had a wonderful week at this lovely old farmhouse between Hesdin and Montreuil sur Mer, just over an hours drive from Calais. The owners made us very welcome and even put up a small Christmas tree for us as it was Christmas week. There is plenty of room in the farmhouse with three good sized bedrooms (two double and a twin). The large kitchen diner was great for cooking and eating the Christmas meal, with a six-burner cooking range. The sitting room was nice and cosy. Not having a real fire at home, we made use of the wood burner. English satellite TV was available. The garden/orchard/meadow gave the dog plenty of space to exercise. Supermarkets and (essential for us) vet in near by Hesdin. The wonders of Monteuil and beach at Le Touquet Paris Plage are a short drive. All in all a great family place to stay. Many thanks to the owners for making us feel so welcome.
