Rustrel was a wonderful location for our time in Provence. It lies in the heart of the Luberon and was in easy driving distance to many of the spectacular sites in the region. The accommodation more than met our expectations, set in lovely grounds with plenty of plane trees providing deep shade.
The property is larger than the photos suggest and was very comfortable for the family with thick stone built walls ensuring a cool interior, so it was very pleasant during the day and night. The large 18m pool was brilliant to come back to after a day sightseeing. It is shared with others, but we had it to ourselves most of the time.
Each morning we would pick up croissants and bread from the local campsite (3 mins walk), where they also have a bar and lovely play area for the children. You can also play table tennis and badminton.
There are a few restaurants in the village, but there is a pizzeria within easy walking distance which did some of the best pizza I've had outside of Italy and is well worth a visit. A number of supermarkets can be found in Apt (8km) which also has a fantastic (and huge) market every Saturday.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience, loved our stay at Notre Dame des Anges, and would not hesitate to recommend it to those coming to Provence. We will certainly return in the future.
