“Fantastic hotel, one of the best”
Reviewed 1 August 2011

Very nice hotel, in a beautiful location. High-end both services and pricing. The service was good and so was the food. Hotel is located between two bays with the access to two beautiful beaches. There are 3 pools if your do not like the sand. Viceroy was even helpful when it rained - they organized some activities including island trip. The only thing is pricing, really high. But the whole region is so. One more thing if you consider Anguilla - if you like dining outside you will have to make long walks as there are not many places outside hotel. But still really nice place for a lazy week.

Room Tip: Some rooms have sea view and pool on the balcony. Try them first.

Stellar and well-kept resort. Design is outstanding. Having gone off-season, it was far from crowded, and with such an expanse of property, we had moments of feeling like it was "ours".

The room, a king suite with a plunge pool, was positively lovely and romantic. I think the bathroom was larger than most rooms in our house! Great touches like upscale product, free wifi, great linens. Again...love the design!

Service was usually there when you wanted them, but not always on top of you (it's the Caribbean, folks). Food was very good at the resort but we did eat our dinners offsite, not wanting to make the most of our short trip.

We're so glad you mentioned one of the best aspects of the hotel - even when there is a "full house", you feel like you have the place to yourself! We agree that the suites are huge - by any standards! They're the perfect sanctuary from the warm Caribbean sun!

My wife and I stayed at Viceroy for the last two nights of our honeymoon. (First five were at Frangipani, so that review is on their site).

The Viceory is very beautiful and definitely a world class resort. The service was top notch all around. The open air hallways are very cool, but be warned, if it rains, the floors all get really slippery.

Our room had a private plunge pool on the balcony and faced out to the ocean. The rooms were fantastic. Upon arrival in our room we were given chocolates, treats, and a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon.

The resort is very large, so be ready to walk if you're going to the pool or the beach. It's not far, but just not the kind of place where you're going to want to continually pop back to your room to grab something. At the pools, fresh water, flavored with fresh lemon, lime, and orange are provided - very refreshing.

Must do: drinks at the Sunset Lounge (great banana chips provided with the drinks). We also had pizza from Bamboo Bar & Grill (they can bring it to you as you sit at the beach).

The concierge provided great recommendations for local, off-resort, eats. Also - the valet service was fantastic. On our last night in Anguilla, they came back and said our car battery appears dead. I asked if they had jumper cables at all and one of their bellman went sprinting to his personal vehicle, and 10 minutes later the car was up and running and we were still early for our reservation. That's service!

If you're staying at Viceroy and want a local Anguilla experience, make sure you get off-resort and eat at some local joints. If you're looking for a top notch, world class resort, and just want to enjoy the views - it's a wonderful place. If you are looking to 100% immerse yourself in Anguilla style, it's probably best to stay elsewhere.

The resort has somewhat of a bad rap among some of the locals we met. I think the main criticism is how enormous it is, and how it's not "truly Anguillan." A few people called it "the bloody Viceroy." Their argument is sound, but it's also clear that the Viceroy has brought many jobs to Anguilla, and will probably continue to bring tourist dollars.

We'd love to go back. We're happy we also got to experience a different kind of resort (Frangipani) on the same stay. The two places can't be compared, they are just too different - both were wonderful and all we could have asked for.

First of all, congratulations! We're thrilled you enjoyed your honeymoon in Anguilla! There's no better way to spend a honeymoon than in the lap of luxury with amazing dining venues, a large suite with plunge pool, and gorgeous scenery! We hope you return soon!

In April my sister, cousin, a friend of ours and myself were on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. Once knowing our itinerary (St Maarten) I knew that returning to Anguilla for a 2nd day trip was a must! Visiting Anguilla for my first day trip a few years earlier I had noticed the Viceroy being built, and knew I had to return to see the finished product!
Upon our arrival, we took a cab from Blowing Point to Frangipani, walked down the beach and used the neighboring villa's beach chairs. I took a short stroll through part of the Viceroy to check out the beautiful grounds. Once returning to our chairs we were asked by the very friendly staff of the Viceroy to please join their chairs on their resort! Long story short, we received VIP service, a tour of the resort, and even had a chance to take a dip in the Sunset Lounge infinity pool. My sister and I had a delicious lunch at Bamboo as well! The grounds and architecture of this resort are marvelous!
Maybe it was a marketing ploy, but it worked!!!
*I will be returning on August 6th with my boyfriend for a 6 night stay at the Viceroy Anguilla and am currently counting down the days!!!

My wife and I recently traveled to Anguilla for our 5 year anniversary. We briefly visited Anguilla during our honeymoon, loved the beaches and slow pace, and vowed to return for an anniversary trip. We picked this property based upon Trip Advisor reviews and several luxury property magazines. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent, the amenities were top notch, and our room (ocean view) was amazing. Viceroy's spa is, by far, the best we've visited in the Caribbean. With the exception of room service (which is always a gamble), our food was very good. We particularly liked the Half Shell for lunch and Coba for dinner. There are excellent restaurants outside of resort on the West End, with the only drawback being cab fare prices. You would do well to rent a car if you're comfortable driving on the left.

The highlight of the entire property is, without a doubt, the Sunset Lounge and infinity pool. It's an amazing space with picturesque views 24/7, heightened, as the name implies, at dusk. A great place for sun-downers. I highly recommend this resort to couples and others looking to get a away from everything, relax and be pampered. We chartered a boat from St. Maarten which was reasonable priced, but friends of ours flew and enjoyed the short flight.

We spent most of our honeymoon on St. Barths, which has more of a French-european feel than Anguilla. Having stayed on both, Anguilla is more American luxury, made more noticeable by the presence of more Americans than Europeans. You can't go wrong either way; and if you decide on Anguilla, we highly recommend the Viceroy.

My husband and I had never heard of Anguilla until we were planning our honeymoon. We were choosing between Viceroy and Cap Juluca and our travel agent helped us determine Viceroy to be a better fit. It was perfect for us! From the cold towels and welcome drinks in the lobby to the champagne and assorted snacks waiting for us in the room, we were so pleased. The room was funky and modern with a spectacular beach view, and the plunge pool on the terrace was really nice. The service at the hotel was warm and welcoming and we felt very well cared for. We enjoyed Coba for breakfast each morning and we had a great dinner there as well. Sunset Lounge was perfect for a light lunch and cocktails and
the infinity pool was paradise. We never wanted to leave. Some restaurants we enjoyed for dinner were Straw Hat, Jacala and Picante. A special thanks to Brent for keeping an eye on us and making sure everything was great. (And thanks for reassuring us that its normal for the guys to take our passports off the boat when leaving St. Martin!)
