I stayed with some mates for a few days in July 2013. I highly recommend it. Santiago was very laid back and gave us some good tips on what to do in Santa Clara and on our onward journey to Trinidad. I had lobster the two nights I was there - it was lovely. It's ideally located, safe and clean with a lovely back garden where there is a mango and avocado tree. Both of which we ate in our meals there - that's fresh and a stark contrast to the state owned restaurants where the food is far from fresh.

We even stayed an extra day at La Caridad! The casa is very friendly , rooms are spacious, and the the hosts Lidia and Santiago made us feel so welcomed. Close to the center, great to walk from here. The hosts arranged pick-up for us at the bus station, they were so laid back and openly available anytime we needed help. They even let us use their washing machine for no charge. The patio is very inviting, it is easy to sit and chat an hour after breakfast is already finished. What I liked the most is that we had the privacy that some casas in Cuba will not offer, yet, we get to experience the homy feel of the casa. I really recommend staying here!

Our stay with Santiago and Lidia was an amazing excperience from beginning to end. Santiago picked us up at the bus station which was very nice. The room is very cute, escpecially for girls as the room is pink. The food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner. Santiago made us pancakes and gave us extra mango juice that we liked so much. The dinner was always good, with very good soups. They always asked us what we would like to eat and did their best to fulfill our wishes. But the best about our stay was Santiago and Lidia who were really friendly and helpful. They also have 3 really cute dogs that you can pet if you like.
I recommend this casa for anyone, families, solo travellers and friends.

Our stay in Hostal "La Caridad" was absolutely perfect. We didn't book in advance, and we were lucky enough to be able to stay in their room. They have one room available with two big beds. The house itself is very nice; you get your own keys of the house, and when you enter you can always excess the garden as well. The house is also very clean and in a nice area of Trinidad.
Next to these practical things, the main thing that we really liked were the hosts, Santiago and Lidia. I became very ill during this holiday, and Santiago kept on giving me advise on where to go or what to do. Next to this, we also had some very nice conversations during breakfast about all sorts of things. We also had dinner with a friend who did not stay at Hostal La Caridad, but who was more than welcome to join for dinner (and the dinner was absolutely delicious! Especially the soup ;)). Santiago and Lidia will really try to make the very best out of your stay.

Room Tip: They only have one room, but it's perfect!

La Caridiad was an excellent place for our stay in Santa Clara. We arranged with the owner, Santiago, by email to meet us at the airport with a name sign on arrival and a lift into town (for a small fee) to the Guest House. This was an excellent service. Santiago, we discovered, also speaks English so you can easily just call and book direct as it would be faster than Cuba's internet.

The spacious and quiet room is comfortably secure at the back of a house with a private entrance and private shower so we could come and go as needed.

The home cooked food was great so we didn't bother to find any restos in the neighborhood. We had the choice of dining in the garden patio (see photos) or inside in a dining hall set up just for guests. We had breakfast in the garden and dinned in the Hall in the evening. It was lovely. Best soup I had in Cuba.

Santiago and Lidia run a professional operation and with car owning Santiago speaking English and Lidia a wonderful cook, you are in good hands.

A big thanks to the team at La Caridad for enhancing our experience of Santa Clara and providing proper accommodation far exceeding our expectations!

Kind regards,
Tim Y Coco!

A big extra room with one overlooking the beautiful, clean garden like the bathroom and the shower, with independent entrance and a very nice terrace with chairs a table to sit and have breakfast and dinner very good. The house is front a park very beautiful and 0.5km from central park.
Really I recommend them to everyone who visit Santa Clara because marriage is exquisite treatment and always this slope of what can do them lack , besides Mr. Santiago spoke good English which facilitates communication.
