“We would have loved to give this top marks”

The setting of the villa is truly wonderful, and the views of the sunset over the Caribbean Sea will stay in our memories. The real star is the long private plunge pool which is so relaxing and enjoyable. You are very close to nature here, a pair of semi-tame Lesser Antillean bullfinches, small lizards and tiny tree frogs share the space, and on one occasion a very large tarantula (which we now believe relatively harmless - sorry spider, too late!) shared the bathroom. The bedroom has an efficient air conditioner, which was a real bonus at night, and generally speaking the villa delivers as described on the website.
Although there was nobody there to greet us upon arrival the manager (a friendly chap called Uriel) left us a mobile phone and a number to call him, and he was able to give good instructions over the phone to help us find our way around.

Whilst we loved our stay, and would be happy to visit again, there were a number of things that meant we feel we can't give it a 5 out of 5 score we would have loved to do:

Water - The pump supplying the water [we were to find out] is on the neighbouring property (same owner) and the guests here 'accidentally' switched this off so we had no running water one morning until Uriel was able to get to us to resolve the issue.
Mozzie Bites - The villa is surrounded by tropical forest, so these are to be expected. An electrical device is supplied to help combat the problem but this was broken on arrival. When we saw Uriel the next morning he took it away to fix it, and it never came back.
Security Measures - Whilst well intentioned the razor wire which is visible from the plunge pool does compromise the view a little, and the security gate in to the bedroom area which we were asked to lock whenever we left the property is very difficult to unlock for anyone with big wrists/hands
Cleanliness - The accommodation was satisfactorily cleaned daily, but the whole site is overdue a proper 'deep clean'
Light Outside the Bedroom Window - The issue of the outside light spoiling sleep quality as mentioned by an earlier reviewer had not been properly addressed, so we simply switched it off, although to be fair an electrician did come along during our stay and did something to help.

Hi Denis & Julie,

Firstly let me say thank you for staying with us at the Caribbean Blue Suite and we're happy to hear that it's impeccable location and view is one you will never forget.

The view of course, is definitely the main attraction of this villa - that, and the romantic plunge pool. But we also definitely take your feedback very seriously, and actually there is a plan that is steadily upgrading various aspects of the villa to modern standards as yes, it's an older home (hence the reason it has such a wonderful location - it was one of the first in the bay).

I have to say though, our gardens and landscaping team are exceptional and the plants and flowers around really are beautiful. We'll see if maybe we could hide a bit of the fencing a bit more though.

The water as you say is never an issue - and not sure why the guests next door decided to turn it off but that doesn't ever happen in normal circumstances. Sorry about that.

September through October represent the rainy season in St. Lucia, which generally brings a few more mosquitoes with it. In other seasons though the bugs are not really a complaint, and all beds in all of our villas have bed netting as well so you can always get a peaceful sleep. We also offer citronella candles and spray if you feel you need it.

But all in all, it's nice to hear that you enjoyed yourselves and were able to soak in some of the beauty that is St. Lucia.

Thanks again for your review, and if you decide to come back to St. Lucia, we would love to ensure a perfectly seamless stay for you next time, whether at this villa or another!

All the best,

“Fantastic place, could be perfect with a couple slight tweaks”

As others have said, this suite is secluded and has a spectacular view. The plunge pool is spectacular and the living area is quaint with all you need to make a comfortable stay. It was exactly what we were hoping for when we booked. I give it a 5 star rating with a few caveats. You are not staying at a resort, so things might not be completely smooth, so it is best to know what you are getting into. For example, I had to change out the propane tank on the stove on arrival. This is no problem for me at all (and actually gave me a feeling of ownership of the place). Also, there were a couple of annoyances. Since you are at the top of the hill and the end of the lines, the water lines will often get air in them and when you turn on the faucet you will get some spitting water that has a tendency to get everywhere. No big deal, you just need to be prepared. Finally, and I have already let the owner know, we had two issues with the bedroom. My wife could hardly sleep with how hard the bed was. The great thing was the manager worked with use to find a solution ASAP and our final nights were very comfortable. Also, there are security lights right outside the bedroom window that you are asked not to turn off, however there are no blackout curtains on the windows, so it remains very bright in the bedroom all night. We were able to hang up some extra blankets and block most of the light, but some curtains would have been great. One last note. You do not actually have a view of Marigot Bay, but rather the open ocean. It is a great view, but be aware that to get the view of the bay you would need to stay next door at the Emerald Hill Villa (which our neighbors were kind enough to let us see).

All in all, we loved our stay, but there are a couple of things we would fix to make it perfect! It is a wonderful, romantic place for a couple and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Hi there, thanks for your 5 star rating, but still well-rounded review and appreciation of the Caribbean Blue Suite as a nice romantic getaway and for its spectacular view! :)

We're happy that changing the propane tank gave you a sense of ownership (hey, that's great), but we would have been happy to take care of that for you as well! It is good to know that our manager did find a solution for you in terms of the mattress. It is hard to please everyone in terms of their mattress preferences as some people prefer very soft, some hard, so we try to stay somewhat in the middle.

We'll definitely look into putting some thicker curtains in the bedroom for future guests, thanks for bringing that to our attention - I'd never heard that comment before.

In terms of the view, as you say, yes it's just the ocean view (I say just", but it's a breathtaking view as you mentioned), and not of Marigot Bay. The pictures of the views for this property that you see on our website are very accurate. I guess any confusion may derive from the fact that the villa is still located technically in Marigot Bay, but just has a view facing the Caribbean Sea (which by the way, offers some amazing sunset views).

Thanks again for your stay, your comment, and we hope to welcome you back again sometime! All the best on your future travels! :)

“Breathtaking views”

The view from the very private terrace and plunge pool are fantastic, the apartment is kept very clean by a daily cleaning lady, and the large bed was very comfortable. We were grateful for the air conditioning in the bedroom as it can get very hot and humid. On the downside the apartment gets very hot at the peak of the day as the sun moves towards the west and as the living room is small there is no place to escape - except the plunge pool which was extremely welcome and has to be in one of the best positions on the island. The living area in the apartment is a bit like an upmarket beach hut - a bit tired around the edges but charming and perfect for what we wanted. If you want swish 5 star luxury then this isn't for you.The kitchen area in the corner is very small but adequate for basic catering. As others have said, the apartment is a good 15 minute very steep walk from Marigot Bay. We walked up and back every day and though we were advised against it, also at night (no problems, but maybe we were lucky). We quite enjoyed getting at least a bit of exercise and though it's very hot to walk up in the day the plunge pool beckoned after we had toiled up the hill to cool us off. The groceries in Marigot are very limited and rather expensive but we got by. Actually everything in Marigot seemed pretty expensive and though we enjoyed eating out felt that most of the restaurants were charging a lot for fairly basic food. In some ways the apartment is expensive compared to the sort of price you would pay in Europe, but then this is the Caribbean and it's hard to put a price on that view. We booked a tour through Oasis and went on a day sail on a yacht down to Soufriere and the Pitons which included a visit to the sulphur springs and botanical gardens, lunch the boat and a stop off for snorkelling - an excellent day. Another day we paid for a days rental of any of the sailing options available at the hire place on the main Oasis side of the bay which was great value. We had a couple of hours sailing a Hobie Cat then after lunch took a kayak and some snorkelling gear and paddled off round the end of the bay to a small beach for some snorkelling. Overall I was very pleased with our choice of staying at Caribbean Blue and would go again if I was ever lucky enough to get to St Lucia again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Caribbean Blue and will definitely go back again! The property looks exactly like the photos posted on the website. The bed was super comfy and the shower was great (really good water pressure and never ran out of hot water). Being able to walk to Marigot Bay was fantastic, the views from the villa were gorgeous, the kitchen was well stocked and the appliances worked perfectly. It was so nice to have the complimentary cell phone while we were there and the internet access was great. We arranged a couple of tours through guest services and they were very helpful. They sent a driver named Andrew to take us to the whale watching boat tour in Castries and he was by far the best driver we had in St. Lucia! We absolutely loved him.
We would love to come back with family and friends and rent the brand new Serenity Bay Villa across the street (also owned by Oasis Marigot). Absolutely stunning!

Also, make sure you to go the Rainforest Hideaway for dinner one night. Fantastic food!!!
Stop in Cul-de-Sac for groceries on your way to the villa from the airport. Great grocery store where you can get everything you for your stay and beer and wine. There's also a cute little grocery store in Marigot Bay for your emergency food shopping.

“Perfect seclusion, unforgettable views.”

We picked the Carribean Blue Suite after doing a lot of research on where to stay in St. Lucia. We didn't want an all-inclusive resort, and definitely wanted our own kitchen and pool. Marigot Bay was supposed to be beautiful, so all those things led us to pick this suite. We absolutely loved it, and would recommend it to any couple looking for a romantic hideaway.

The private pool has the best view of the Carribean Sea, perfect for cooling off in the middle of the day or watching a beautiful sunset. Having our own kitchen to cook some meals was very convenient. It was really nice to have our maid wash the dishes, so we didn't even have to worry about that.

The shower could use some renovations, but overall the bathroom is very spacious.

It can get a little hot in the direct sun, so keep the shutter/doors closed to provide shade in the middle of the day. The bugs were the worst thing about this place -- mosquitoes that come out as soon as the sun starts to go down. Definitely wear bug spray the whole time you're here!

It is definitely secluded -- all the way at the end of the road, on the edge of a cliff -- so if you aren't renting a vehicle (which we didn't), be prepared to walk 20 minutes down a very steep hill (although the uppermost portion is newly paved!), and you'll definitely want to hire a taxi to take you back up the hill each time. But once you get to the bottom of the hill, a water taxi can take you across the bay to some more restaurants and the beach.

This was a great location for those looking for a secluded island experience. If you want privacy and terrific views, you can't go wrong!

Amazing view, but suite could use some upgrades - kitchen is VERY basic, and VERY small. Furniture needs cleaning (who wants to sit on someone elses greasy suntan lotion on couch - shd be slipcovers so can be cleaned. ). No loungers, only chairs to sit outside. Cleaning lady comes almost daily, but then stays almost the whole day waiting for her ride back to town. I didn't plan on vacationing with the cleaning lady - no matter how nice she is!!

Also, there is only an ancient boom box for stereo - how much would it cost to have an Ipod dock??

“Just Book It”
Reviewed 14 June 2013 for a stay in February 2013

My mom headed down to Marigot Bay for a lovely winter escape and landed at the Caribbean Blue Suite. The best advice I can give is don't hesitate, just book it. So drop dead gorgeous. two of the four walls open to the ocean. The breeze is simply lovely. The sunsets out of this world. The pool refreshing ... there is so much to say. It was simply perfect. Should note that it is about a 20 minute uphill walk from town which we enjoyed but if you are traveling with anyone with mobility challenges you will just want to have a rental car or take a taxi up and down. Thank you so much for the very special stay.
