“Gutted i didnt get to go...”

Heard from other guests that this is the best place to eat in Marigot Bay. One of the two fine dining restaurants in the Bay. Best kept to the last night before you leave. Be sure to check when the live music is on, and be sure to reserve a table. Sometimes they have private functions on, so that can spoil a plan if you do not check in before hand. As it is fine dining, you will pay the extra for it. Nice setting & a little ferry boat takes you across the marina to the restaurant. Romantic!

Dear MissLouche

Thanks for your review of Rainforest. In High Season we now have live jazz on three nights, Monday (Allison Marquis), Wednesday and Saturday (both Emerson & the Empress). As we move into Low Season (summer) from mid-May until mid- November we reduce our opening nights. This Summer we expect to open Wednesday through Sunday and we plan to move the Monday jazz to Sunday - keeping to three nights each week.

Reservations are always a good idea - but we don't close that often for functions - maybe three or four times a year.

“Don't Miss This Experience!”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

We hailed a water taxi at 5pm from Solomon at Sugar Beach for a private sunset cruise to Marigot Bay (where Oprah's house is). A quick 30 minute boat ride brought us into Marigot Bay right as the sun was setting and the bay itself was crowded with over a dozen sailboats tied up for the night. Solomon took us straight to the deck of The Rainforest Restaurant, in which you can only get to by boat or water taxi. The host greeted us on the dock and told Solomon to come back to get us in 2 hours. We knew we were in for a treat! He then showed us to the bar to have a drink before dinner. Gabe ordered a Rainforest Punch for me, similar to the local favorite Rum Punch, but green and served in a martini glass and he had a martini with delicious pearl onions. Around 6:30 we were seated at the best table in the restaurant, right on the water facing the bay. We could see everyone in all of their sailboats cooking dinner and relaxing on the bow. After opening a bottle of Argentinian Malbec, we ordered our 3 course meal. I had crab cake to start, grilled Mahi Mahi as the main course, and rum sautéed bananas and ice cream for dessert. Gabe started with Pork Tenderloin and apple compote and chose the Beef Tenderloin as his main course, completing dinner with White Chocolate Creme Brûlée. We were given 2 small appetizers, compliments of the chef, bruschetta and a Tuna and Lion Fish medley. YES, we ate Lion Fish! We took pictures of each plate because of the beautiful presentation and honestly enjoyed every second we were there. The food was absolutely amazing!
We snapped a picture of the chef and her team, and then headed to the bar to buy Solomon and Titus a Rainforest Punch for the ride back. They were very thankful. We boarded the boat and cruised to Soufriere under the stars in the blackest of night sky where all we could see to the right was a never ending Atlantic Ocean with a straight line reflection of the moon. Half an hour later, we docked at the pier of Soufriere and took one last picture with Solomon before we caught the taxi back to Stonefield.

Dear Krystal H

Many thanks for your very positive review of Rainforest. Coming by boat from Soufriere, Ti Kaye at Anse Cochon, Windjammer Landings or Rodney Bay is expensive - but can be a magical experience - particularly when you take in sunset offshore. This is always more spectacular than from land and a starlight or moonlight cruise back is very romantic way to finish the evening..!

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

We ate here four times while staying in Marigot Bay. It was a short complimentary water taxi ride over to the restaurant. It had very nice views of the Bay and excellent service.

We typically each did the two course dinner $48 U.S. each and would share an appetizer and dessert. For appetizers we really enjoyed lump crab cake with banana chutney (slight up charge for this) and the tuna tartar. Favorite entrees included the coconut crusted sea bass, cardamom star anise duck, parmesan encrusted salmon and chile & lemongrass infused shrimp with a nice risotto. For dessert, the rum sauteed bananas with rum raisin ice cream and the fresh little crepe were to die for. This was one of my favorite desserts of all time. The white chocolate creme brulee with lime and raspberry compote was also very good as was the pineapple and coconut cheesecake with carmel sauce.

While some people may say this was higher priced food, keep in mind it was the freshest of ingredients and it is a fine dining experience that is sure to please the palate! As such, we felt the prices were not at all out of line.

Dear MP-Hami

Many thanks for writing your very complimentary review of Rainforest. To come 4 times for dinner during your short vacation is a very positive endorsement of the restaurant - for which we are very grateful.

We are a little more expensive than most of the other restaurants in Marigot - but the differential is getting less and less..! We have not put our prices up in over three years - but my own recent dining out experiences in Marigot (and those of our guests at Mango Beach Inn) indicate that several of the other restaurants are catching us up fast - and soon we will be paying the same for award-winning "fine dining" at Rainforest as for local "home-style" cooking and friendly casual service. I am glad that you thought our prices were worth it..!

Best regards

“Lovely”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

What a lovely restaurant. You get a boat to get here from the other side of the bay. Its free and only takes a minute.

This is Caribbean find dinning and it was delicious. I recommend to start the lump crab cake and the tuna tartar. Also, the caramelised bananas, pancake and ice cream for dessert was incredible.

It is located on the same side of Marigot Bay where we stayed. We rode the water taxi one morning with the owner & He gave us a ride to Cul-d-sac, so we got to visit with him & learn about the restaurant. We actually never had enough time to make it there, But everyone we met who had been there say it is awesome. Next year we will make it.

Dear DannyboyHoodRiver

Sorry you didn't make it to Rainforest - despite my best direct marketing efforts - but happy that you picked up good feedback about the restaurant and survived the bus journeys in St Lucia.
