There's a reason this is the top-rated restaurant in the area. It's cozy and romantic, with a lovely seating area over the water. Mosquitoes were not a problem, much to my surprise. You have to take the water taxi to get there, and reservations are required. The service was top-notch. Very professional and the server even showed us how to get better pictures of the food with our camera! The food was delicious, and artfully presented. Portion sizes were not as huge as other places on the island, but I disagree with other reviewers that they are tiny. All the flavors pair nicely and we were full when we left. Yes, the menu is small but I think it allows them to do each dish really well. It is expensive, but we felt it was worth it. Hope to return again someday.

If you go to Rainforest on Wed or Fri they have live jazz music. Also if you have a group of 6 or more they offer Free transportation. The munis was lovely and the food was delicious. The service was the best I've received on the island.

Dear firstladyrobinson

Thanks for your review of your experience at Rainforest and your particular comments about the service. The hardest thing to get right in the Caribbean is the balance between efficiency and friendliness..!

Just a small correction and a clarification. We have live jazz three nights each week throughout the year. In Summer, when we are only open the four nights Wednesday through Saturday, we have live jazz on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (not Friday, as you mention). Even though our dinner jazz provides a soft background, some diners want a night without live music.

The free collection programme is for six adult diners from the north of the island and must be arranged through the restaurant, as we have special arrangements with a pool of licenced local taxis to provide this service.

The food here is fantastic. It is a taste of the Caribbean in a fine dining experience. I tried the spice-dusted lion fish (first time I had lion fish) and it was wonderful. The restaurant is on the bay so you get beautiful views which compliment the meal well. The staff was very nice and quick (which can be rare on the island).

Dear ZachVT

Thanks for you lovely review of Rainforest and glad you liked the lionfish.

Until recently we were the only restaurant is St Lucia serving lionfish - but others are now following suit - which is great. The lionfish are a major threat to our marine environment. Introduced into the Caribbean by accident, they are destroying all the reef-fish and destabilising the ecology to the point that many Caribbean reefs are dying. Man is their only predator and the best thing we can do is catch and eat them. We are paying the local fishermen a premium to bring them to us and fortunately they are a very nice eating fish..!

We enjoyed 3 dinners at the Rainforest Hideaway and it was by far the best restaurant in terms of food quality and service.

Although you are limited to 1 of 4 choices for each of the three courses, the quality and presentation for each choice was excellent.

Cocktails were excellent value for money and the wine list was extremely reasonable especially compared to other establishments of a similar quality on the island.

Dear bryandonald

Many thanks for your very positive review of Rainforest. To eat here three times during a short vacation is the best feedback we could possibly expect - since there is a wide choice of restaurants in St Lucia - even in Marigot Bay.

One small correction. I think you rather understate the extent of the Menu. At present there are 5 starter choices, 7 or 8 main course options and 6 dessert choices. Still a small Menu by many restaurant standards - but we focus on trying to do a few things well..!

We hope to see you again.

The setting alone makes this restaurant worth the trip. It is tucked away in Marigot Bay and accessible only by boat taxi. The view is spectacular. The ambiance of the restaurant is top notch and the food is just as enjoyable as the atmosphere. You cannot go wrong spending an evening here.
