“A real delight”
Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

What a find ... and an oasis of calm after Honfleur and Deauville crowds.
The gardens were in full spring bloom and were fabulous.

We were there for 3 nights in suite 17, upstairs in the separate small building (wonderful rustic architecture) and it was large, comfortable and well equipped with a separate sitting room, which worked well in keeping us free from our 2 dogs for sleeping arrangements.

Bed was large and comfortable with great pillows and good linens.
Wifi worked well throughout hotel and in rooms, and is free (a pet peeve of mine is hotels who charge for this).

Staff were excellent and always ready to help, even giving us access to their fridges for storing our dog-food.
We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was excellent ... I highly recommend it. Fresh local produce, cooked with skill and well presented, with a good wine selection.
Breakfast buffets were very good and varied enough to more than meet our needs.

We loved the hotel, and would not stay anywhere else in the area.
I would include it in our 10 favourite hotels globally along with the Lowell in New York and L'Angleterre in Geneva (both 5*+) and it would one of the most charming 4* I have stayed in.
Our stay was so pleasant that I even forgave them the hand-held shower.

After several visits to the area we felt totally "Honfleured out". The narrow roads and difficult parking made life just too tedious when staying in town. Then we found Auberge de la Source. A couple of miles out of town, beatifully converted and with ample parking. A perfect combination as we are able to enjoy Honfleur during the day and retire to a lovely quiet hotel in the evening. The restaurent is first class, and suffice to say we had the best meal of our weeks holiday. Staffing is perhaps a little minimal but all are very helpful. Go back score, 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: Some have a patio, if you ask.

Dear Critical,

We thank you very much for your kind comment following your stay at L'Auberge de la Source.
We are very happy to know that you loved our restaurant, and that you had their the best meal of your weeks holiday.
Our resort is closed to the charming town of Honfleur, but away enough to enjoy a gastronomic stay out of the the noise and the traffic.
You are just at the right place to discover all the historic Norman monuments during the day, and lucky enough to spend a lovely evening in a quite and peaceful hotel.
We hope to welcome you soon.

We have just completed a gastronmique tour of northern france staying mainly in 5 star hotels renowned for their cuisine. This hotel overall was not only the cheapest but the BEST! The rooms were tastefully appointed with all modern facilities including Hermes toiletries. Our room had lovely terrace with table and chairs. The restaurant was small but had a certain ambience which we loved and the food oh the food was so good. Value for money was unbelievable.Plenty of free secure parking. Yes already making arrangements to return in Autumn.

The Auberge is situated 4 miles from Hornfleur so if you do decide to take Taxi make sure you arrange a collection as they are a scarce commodity. We ventured out for lunch and could not find a return taxi. We had to rely on friends to transport us back. Taxi fare fare is 40e return????

Room Tip: Some ground floor rooms have terraces

Dear Madam,

We thank you so much for your very kind return, following your last stay at L'Auberge de la Source.
We are delighted that you loved our tastefully rooms, with modern facilities, lovely terraces, and different decoration.
We are specially happy that you enjoyed your meal in our charming restaurant.
Our small but comfortable Inn is quite close from Honfleur, but away from the noise of this the beautiful town.
Just the right place to discover its wonderful monuments, and then enjoy the peaceful of this old village, at only 4 miles of Honfleur.

We've been fortunate to travel all over the world and have to say this property is definitely in our Pantheon of great hotels! We could not have asked for a more perfect or beautiful setting, the rooms were VERY comfortable (and beautifully renovated), the staff was polite, professional, and helpful whenever we needed them, and the location is PRETTY good (minutes from Honfleur, but you'll spend a bit of time (1 1/2 hours or so) getting to the further D-Day events). DEFINITELY take advantage of their restaurant for dinner at least once! It is a fit menu that varies a bit from one night to the next, but offers a phenomenal array of regional and French cuisine. We dined there two nights and REALLY wished we had dined the third night. And they are very accommodating with giving you better prices if you stay three nights or longer and if you pay for your stay in advance! Definitely worth it!

Just a 7 minute drive from Honfleur, this Auberge is well worth it. We stayed in a "charme" room above the restaurant, and there was no detail missed in the design of the room. A beautiful high ceiling, wooden beams. A window opening up over the pond, a shower made in heaven and lovely linens and robes.

We did not dine here, but next time shall try.
An amazing romantic escape for 2 nights.
Highly recommended

Room Tip: We were in room 6. Would recommend room on top floor b.c wooden stairs creek,

Following a stay here last October we were delighted to be back - especially when we were greeted with Champagne on arrival!

We had a smaller room this time (15?) on the ground floor which was nicely presented and equipped with a good bathing area and wet-area. It was a little cramped around the bed on one side but adequate. However, with only one window and insufficient lighting it was a bit dark - a torch was needed to see into the wardrobe to select clothes. I will opt for the larger room on our next visit later in the year.
The style is rustic-chic and it works beautifully - the bed-linens are high quality and the beds very comfortable.
The restaurant is comfortable and an excellent buffet breakfast is offered - don't miss out on the superb range of artisanal breads!
Dinner with a log-fre crackling away was excellent - warm (not cooked!) oysters are a revelation - my wife had the 3 nights running! The quartered roast pigeon stuffed with foie-gras and with liver & heart separately presented was cooked to perfection and was tender as veal! Dover sole meuniere…perfect so my said. The menu is small, perhaps just 3 or4 choices of entree and main course but all the dishes are beautifully, often surprisingly presented, without being fussy or over-decorated, and nicely balanced and correctly cooked. The chef, Yanneck, is accomplished and charming as are all the staff without exception. Service is quiet, efficient, thoughtful and friendly and we are looking forward already to our next visit.
Situated in the woods just 3 miles above Honfleur which is a great (if a bit touristy) place to spend a day - Boudin Museum, Erich Satie House, Old Honfleur Museum and dozens of restaurants including the wonderful SaQaNa in the town centre. Deauville is only 20 mins away with its wonderful shops and Trouville just over the bridge with its great fish market & fish restaurants along the quay - a wonderful sandy beach stretches for miles in front of both Deauville & Trouville. This sounds too much like a brochure now so will finish with thanks once more to al at The Auberge for a memorable stay once again!

Room Tip: Go for the larger rooms - all are quiet and mostly look over the garden which is beautiful in itself...

We are used to stay in the region but never tried this hotel. Unfortunately we did not find it before ! The hotel quiet, charmy and rooms are most comfortable with such a stylish local style.
The staff is most helpful and warm. It was difficult to get a table on this Valentine day but Veronique did her best and we finally could enjoy the restaurant which proposes a very nice daily menu.
We will be back as soon as we pass by.

Room Tip: Get the room number 5 which great corner view
