My husband and I stayed at Airds a few times when it belonged to the previous owners and this summer was the first time we had been back. First of all we will definately be going back again! Airds is a small hotel and located in Port Appin overlooking Loch Linnhe, the views are amazing and my goodness we had forgotten how beautiful this area was!
This was our Summer holiday and we had our two children with us so we booked the cottage beside the hotel which has a kitchen, living area and two bedrooms. It is right next door to the hotel and we could use the hotel whenever we liked although we didn't need to use it much as we were so lucky with the weather. The food and service at Airds is impeccable, at breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal feels like such an occasion and the food is some of the best we have ever had, anywhere and so well presented. They made lovely dinners for our youngest child to have early evening and the eldest (12) ate with us. If you go to Airds please go for walks, go on a horse ride (local stables) hire the electric bikes (really funny as we had our dog with us and he could sit on the bike rather than get puffed out trying to keep up with us), take the ferry over to the Island of Lismore, take a boat trip, we saw seals and porpoises and craned our necks to try to see the resident eagle nearby but he must have been hiding - Next time!

From what I remember of the hotel rooms at Airds, they were beautifully decorated, fairly traditional and used Frette bedlinen (best ever). The rooms in the cottage were lovely and a good size for us. Please if you are looking at this review, you must be thinking of going, please do you will not regret it.

Room Tip: If you are a family book the cottage as two rooms in the hotel would be a lot more.

Excellent hotel in all respects , friendly ,helpfull staff with an excellent sense of humour,
they all chatted with the guests and had an excellent rapport but not over attentive.
Superb food for both dinner and breakfast undoubtedly one of the best restaurants we have visited. Local food expertly cooked and presented .
Comfortable clean bed rooms and lounge areas.
Excellent location with beautifull views over the loch .Pleasant areas in which to walk close by.
We had such an enjoyable visit that we have already reserved a return visit for early 2013.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front with views over the loch .Te scenery in the autum is beautiful.

The Airds Hotel overlooks a stunning Scottish vista of a sea loch, islands and large hills in the distance. First impressions are of a spotlessly clean establishment with traditional but tasteful decor, the ambience added to by the serried ranks of Wellington boots in the vestibule for the use of guests. The staff are highly professional at all times, nothing seems too much trouble and yet never do you feel they are over attentive, the balance is just right. Rooms are of a decent size and there is free wifi though this is a little faint in the furthest away suite. The real conversation point of The Airds is the fabulous food, with local produce expertly cooked and without fail beautifully presented. Starters of note include scallops and also the velouté, as far as mains go the Monkfish was perfection and guinea fowl also highly rated. Many restaurants would try and fail to emulate the standard of fare at the Airds, thank you for a wonderful three days. Oh- and the breakfasts are very good as well. Note there is very little mobile phone signal in this part of Scotland, but some might say that is exactly what is needed for a proper break!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a loch view. If you absolutely can't live without wifi, ask for a room near t...

We stayed three nights at Airds on a package rate which was excellent value considering it included dinner in their top notch restaurent. Located in beautiful Port Appin which we can also highly recommend, it had incredible views over the loch. The staff are als incredible anticipating our every desire. If you want shere luxury and super food then this place is for you.
Breakfast is great too as its good old fashiooned service all the way - no mass produced buffet here, There is plenty to do in the area too. We did lots of walks and hired bikes.

I can highly recommend this hotel. It may be modest from the outside but once inside the experience is incredible. The atmosphere is very intimate with beautiful decor throughout the public rooms. The staff are supremely well trained and cant do enough for you, whether it be recommending an activity for the day and arranging it for you or ensuring you have had enough tea after dinner.
And talking of dinner, the food is outstanding. We have stayed in many top hotels throughout the world and I cant remember any that provided the all over service that this place does - from the stylish decor to the service and quality of food. Well done and we shall be back.

Room Tip: The view from our loch view room was stunning

From the moment we arrived everything was perfect from the warm welcome we received from a lady called kathy to the overall service we received throughout our stay. We went for the master suite which was fantastic - large bed which was so comfortable, and a large lounge with great TV which my husband liked. There was even a TV at the end of the bath and what was good was that you could watch something different in the lounge to that in the bath which suited my husband who wanted to watch the sport! The toiletries were bulgari which were divine.

Our waiter at dinner, Andrew, was so good and attentive without being formal or stuffy and the food was excellent. The overall decor of the hotel is lovely and really in keeping with a country house hotel where all you really want to do is relax and receive good service and food. This was our first trip here and it certainly lived up to its reputation as being one of the nicest hotels in Scotland where being looked after seems to be second nature to the stafff. We will definitely be back and would recommend to others especially if you want to treat yourself. Not the cheapest hotel in Scotland but worth every penny!

Room Tip: If you can afford the Master Suite - go for it!

Have lost count, too, how many times I've stayed at this hotel and my latest stay proves to me that this really is THE only place to stay. I am not normally someone who returns to the same place time & time again, however when somewhere gives you the quality & service of The Airds, then why not? I feel like the owners now are old friends and they make sure that they're to greet me when I arrive. The service is great, the staff are friendly yet unobtrusive and the food is just sublime. Go prepared to expand your waistband by a few inches whenever you stay!! I find it such a relaxing place to be, yet there is so much close by to enjoy that The Airds gives you the best of all worlds. You should definitely give this hotel a try - it's well worth every penny!
