“Comfortable, well equipped and very good value”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We found the flat very comfortable and well equipped in a quiet area. It was easy to find; the clear directions were confirmed entirely by the sat nav! There was a very clearly set out information manual for all the equipment. Rest bay is delightful and is truly only a short walk away. Porthcawl is a longer walk or a very short drive and the Co-op was very well stocked for food and groceries. There are beautiful bays and coast walks a short distance away, such as Dunraven bay. Overall this flat was very good value for money.

Liked best: The shower; very powerful and hot
Liked least: the parking space; it would be wider if the bushes were pruned

“Lovely position and homely”

A couple of minutes walk from Rest Bay, 20 from Pawthcawl.
The property is well maintained and has everything you could need.
The Waterfront in Pawthcawl is just as good, if not better than the local pubs for food, all manage to keep a good pint of Sharp's 'Doom Bar'.
Le Raj is just up the road and is a cracking Indian for both takeaway and sit down.
Plenty to do and see withing 40 - 50 miles
Reccomended

“Excellent property, thoroughly relaxing”

I was really impressed with the size of the property - the photos don't do justice to the size or the finish of the property.

The location is fantastic, with beautiful views of the sea from the balcony and the beach is just a 10 minute walk away. We loved the convenience of being able to walk back to the apartment from the beach. Also a great location to explore South Wales, with Cardiff and Swansea just a 30 min drive away.

Everything seemed to have been thought of to make sure our stay was as relaxing as possible.

I would not hesitate to recommend and we will be returning without doubt in the future.

“Relaxing Rest Bay Apartment”
Reviewed 1 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

My husband and I travelled from Canada to Wales and stayed at the Rest Bay apartment for seven nights with friends. Guy, the owner of the apartment was most accommodating and made communication easy and quick via email and phone. The price of the flat was very reasonable and certainly hit the budget better than a B & B or hotel in the area. This modest apartment met our needs with; clean linens, a very well equipped kitchen and only a three minute walk to the tranquil Rest Bay beach. The upstairs two bedroom apartment is in a quiet residential area. It had convenient parking and was but about a twenty minute walks to the town of Porthcawl and nearby Nottage. In the apartment was a binder that had very good resources and tips of local areas to visit and dining suggestions.
My husband and I both enjoyed running along the beach front and walking to the local pubs in Nottage and waterfront of Porthcawl. We did get spoiled with some of the hottest weather Wales has experienced in years so took advantage of the surrounding beaches too in the lovely Gower peninsula, dunes of Kenfig and hip Cardiff Bay. Porthcawl has definitely changed since I was a child growing up in this area but still has a strong community spirit. We visited local art galleries and the main street with little bakeries and thrift shops. Coney Beach Fairground is still there for the young at heart but gone one are the masses of holiday makers from the valleys far and wide. There are good golf courses close by and Rest Bay is famous for being a good surfing beach. At this point I would have to say the town of Porthcawl itself is for the ‘nearly dead and could be wed’. We mostly observed a range of retirees and young folk who sat out at the beach front lounges, bars and cafes. However there is no excuse for not finding things to do, if you want history, culture and recreation just cruise about the area and you are never far from anything.
I would recommend this apartment for those who don’t want hustle and bustle of the overcrowded flooded seaside resorts, for those who want quiet rugged Welsh beaches or just visits with family and friends. I’ve done my share globally of bombarded beaches and resorts and found if refreshing to go home to sandy beaches not consumed by the masses. I would certainly stay at the Rest Bay apartment again since it met our personal needs of having the beach and family close by.
