we have stayed at the Atlantic twice and paid extra for sea view room on both visits, while the rooms are pleasant enough they are nothing special and the price is not justified at all...
on both visits breakfast was a joke,i round of toast between 2 people,1 sausage 1 bacon ect..waitress seemed to have better things to do and short of throwing the food on the table couldn't have delivered it in a more uncaring manner,in short...not cheap, poor service and I guess the only good thing...hardly any food...good because what there was of it was luke warm junk

Had lunch here on bank holiday Monday and the setting is lovely as is the décor. We asked for a table for two and were asked to wait in the bar area which we did for about 20 minutes. We decided to leave and look for somewhere else to eat but as we headed for the door the lady in charge said she now had a table and had been looking for us so we decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and go to our table. We then proceeded to wait another 20 minutes just for the waitress to take our orders, which would never have happened if I hadn't stood up and asked if we could order, which we then did. My partner ordered the bucket of fish and I had gammon. After an hour of waiting (no exaggeration) other guests who ordered before us were just starting to have their food delivered and we were beginning to think ours would never arrive. I must add that I had to go to the bar for drinks during our wait as there were no waitresses to be seen and this is something I have NEVER had to do once seated in a restaurant. Our food eventually arrived and mine was not too bad if slightly cold, but my partners fish was very bland and also almost cold. We decided to pass on dessert as it would've probably been dark by the time it arrived. This establishment could be so much better and I have no idea if there are problems behind the scenes, but we will not be returning as there are other nicer places to eat in Porthcawl.

We went there last Sunday for a meal with our family whilst spending the weekend
with them.
The setting was really good, as we had a table in the conservatory part of the resteraunt
with lovely views on the sea.

That is about all I can say positively about our time there !

Our drinks order was taken fairly promptly but it took about 45 minutes to serve them.

I had to chase them up about every stage of the meal, as service was extremely slow
and inefficient. It took about an hour and a half from arriving to having the main course
served. Most of us decided to have the lamb shank which arrived " dry and tough " in my
wife's words. The vegetables, which arrived in serving dishes, had not been prepared
adequately as there were still hard lumps of swede in one dish.

As a sign of how inefficient the service was, a waitress checked our table after we had all finished
the main course, then disappeared without taking anything away !

Some of us decided on a cold dessert - which was delivered on warm plates - possibly
straight from the plate wash !!

There was clearly no sign of any form of management of the service in the resteraunt.
On approaching a lady, dressed in everyday clothes, about the poor service - she didn't
want to know. She directed me to the resteraunt manager - who was serving behind the
bar at the time.

My clear impression was that they had taken too many bookings for the day, being Easter

We were not the only ones with complaints about the service. On paying our bill, my daughter
overheard someone else saying they would be writing to the hotel manager about the poor
service they experienced.

A very bad experience in this hotel !

We were recommended to try this for a meal while on holiday in porthcawl.

We were not disappointed! We went in a weekday in the Easter holidays.

The menu was comprehensive and had plenty of choices.

We all opted for the roast lamb . This was delicious and just melted in the mouth. It came with yummy roast potatoes, gravy, mint sauce, and a veg plate ( boiled potatoes, carrots and cabbage, and swede mash) followed by strawberry meringue sundaes.
The portions were plentiful, in fact down dishes that went by did look massive.

The staff were pleasant and service was at a good pace.

The ambience was good with either a cosy bar or a airy conservatory to sit in. We sat in the conservatory over looking the sea.

Being a short walk from the main high street it wasn't too far, but if you were in the high street you might miss it, if you didn't walk up that way.

If your in or around porthcawl give it a try.
