“Good campsite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Pitches were not overly generous but more than adequate and, for the high numbers there in the summer holiday period, it was generally very quiet and peaceful through late evening and overnight. The toilet facilities were clean and appeared to be sufficient for the numbers ie no/little queuing for showers etc. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced, and the owners were very helpful with local knowledge. The free wifi on-site was also good.

We spent a long weekend here in July after being recommended to visit by friends.

When we arrived booking in was easy as we had prepaid via the phone so the owners just had to show us to our pitch. He was pleasant and recommended some lovely pubs 10min walking distance to have food. The on site shop was stocked with all the basics so we had bacon sandwiches for the morning!

Would go back as the beach was so close (20mins walk / 5mins car) and site was clean & well run!

Thanks Brodawel!

I have seen some negative reviews of this site and I can't believe that they are of the same site that I visited last week.spotlessly clean, well managed and very friendly owners.I will certainly visit again and so will My friends with their caravan, also other friends on Our recommendation. The only down point is the narrow access lane, however, with care it is easily travelled(200metres).an easier exit route is available on exit by bearing right at the junction in the lane.very good pubs 10 mins walk and a taxi into town £5 regardless of the number of passengers(capacity permitting)enjoy your time here,I did and so did My family and friends

I felt compelled to write a review following on from some of the others on here. Having heard the owners side of one of these incidents in particular I feel very sorry for them and would hate these reports to impact on their livelihood.

Brodawel is at least perfectly adequate if not good campsite. I found the owners helpful and courteous. The pitches were not huge but big enough. The amenities were clean and well cared for.

I would go back.

On arrival the site looked nice but very busy and packed in. We were shown to our 'pitch' and randomly placed in the middle of the field. After sitting there for a while and watching large groups 20 something's arrive we decided that this site was not for us and clearly a quiet night was out of the question. We ended up camping on a friends driveway which was a much better option and peaceful. I thought the owners were quite friendly and understand that they need to take lots of bookings but to be honest after a long tour of Wales and lots of driving I just couldn't be bothered with it all and moved on.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday and had a nice, relaxing time. Owners are very friendly and welcoming and basically leave you to enjoy yourselves once they've shown you to your pitch, but they are also either in the shop or a phone call away if you have any problems. Showers and toilets were clean, shop stocks the basics if you've forgotten anything and the village of Nottage is about 10 minutes walk away with a couple of good pubs. Porthcawl is about 2 miles if you need a bit more life. Basically all you need for a few nice nights away by the coast.

Visited for weekend away with children in august. Very easy to find from motorway just follow signs! Beach was short walk with children and there was a surf school to hire boards. Small shop on sIte to buy basics such as bread, milk and sweets. Owners were helpful and showed us to our pitch. No annoying tokens or 20p for showers which was nice!! Will be visiting again!
