Was given a lovely caravan on the acorn block. Had grandchildren with us who loved the facilities they also loved the arcades .
We limited the amount they could spend in there - on the third evening our 9 year old Grandson wanted the last of his limit to continue playing a 10p machine as there was a £5 pound note balancing on the edge. As we were giving the last of his allowance an attendant came and opened the machine picked up the £5 pound note and moved it to the back of the machine so that it couldn't drop.
Awful behaviour what message is that giving out. It's just a little controlled fun for the children but as we all witnessed this guy who was apparently in charge shows the camp site in a very unprofessional light.
When challenged on his behaviour we were asked to leave if we didn't like it. Really good customer service!
This was on 22/04/2014 20:00 in the arcade opposite the showdom

Slightly overpriced. Caravan was nice and clean, everything worked. Shows are good in the evening. Tip is to get to the pool at 9.55 and wait outside, you then guarantee 10-15 mins really quiet swimming while the queues build up. Slightly over zealous process for getting in ( carrying a receipt while you are entering ) and the usual whistle hungry lifeguards but the pool is lovely and warm and ideal for kids. Temperature of showers can take the skin off the kids if not careful but better than being freezing! Would go back

We ( 3 adults) stayed here for the first week of the Easter hols. Being older ( 2 over 55 and 1 over 30) we were worried it would be too kiddy and loud but were surprised that it was actually quite peaceful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing info on local shops and places that there were not leaflets for.

The park is well set out and with everything in the middle no ones too far away from amenities. We were only a couple of minutes walk so didn't need to use the car on site. We were on a roundabout, but even though they were busy roads there are humps to slow people and since you expect kiddies around most drive sensibly.

The shop on site is a bit expensive and as it's small doesn't have loads of choices but has the basics. Do remember that in Wales shops HAVE to charge for bags so expect it or take some with you. There are small supermarkets in porthcawl itself for cheaper options or more choice. It's inly a 1/2 hour walk or a short drive.

The other shops were nice. The pizza from the onsite shop was yummy as was the fish and chips although that did have a very limited menu! We were recommended another in porthcawl by a local. We also had lunch in the diner and this was yummy and well cooked.

The caravan we had was a Connelly and was lovely. The centre living room design was new to us but worked well and although it wasn't warm enough to sit outside it was lovely to have a verandah. The caravan was clean and warm. We spent our evenings chilling out there with games and watching DVDs.

We did have one or two issues. First we had a couple of items missing but these were sorted quickly. The other one was a toilet that appeared to leak randomly. The staff were very polite and helpful and sent out maintenance quickly. What's good Is that there is someone to call 24 hours a day to report issues. These numbers are on the park map. It did take a few visits but it was sorted in the end and only took awhile because it was a tricky to diagnose issue.

All in all we found this a good base for days out in a beautiful place.

I would definitely come back and recommend it.

We go to Porthcawl every year and this time decided to book through parkdean themselves this time due to needing a disabled caravan. The location we were put was not a good place for a 3 year old in a wheelchair, the ramp went straight onto a busy road so she didn't actually have any freedom. The linen was dirty and wet room was also dirty, upon reporting this we had bad attitude to the staff on reception. This was the first time using parkdean and will be the last. Very over priced for the quality of service!!!

I took my girlfreind here for the weekend for her birthday, we enjoyed ourselves, stayed in one of the carvan 2 minute walk from the middle still drove back and forth though, the pizza was amazing pricey but worth it, you know what kind of holiday you will be getting not a fancy 5* resort but it works, the only couple of negatives i have is the que to book in weather wasnt the best but that cant be helped and also everything apart from the nightclub seemd to shut early, again understandable, i had an issue with the shower was stone cold rang reception who arrived within half hour and sorted it so all in all a nice little weekend trip and id recommend it

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Trecco Bay, Parkdean. The caravan was very well equipped and a good size (we had an 8 birth for 4 adults and 2 children. The park is spotlessly clean and well maintained throughout. The swimming pool is excellent and there is a lovely outside play area, well equipped shop, takeaways and gift shop. As with all of these types of parks there are also two large amusement arcades (to try an avoid to get to the restaurants!) The entertainment is very amateurish, but to be fair we only saw a little bit on two evenings and then opted for games and drinks back at the caravan. The biggest let down (and sadly this was everyday in some form or another) was due to the half board dinning option that we had pre-paid for at the time of booking. We decided to take this option as a bit of a luxury as no one really wanted to cook or wash up everyday and it can be extremely expensive to eat out all of the time. Sooooo, on the Parkdean website you can download their extensive half board dining option, which looked more than adequate for all of us.......do not be fooled!!! this is not the menu that they actually produce when you get there. On our first evening we discovered that not only is the menu far more limited than advertised but they had also 'unfortunately ran out' of three of the items we tried to order, we then waited 45mins for our mains to arrive, which were cold! (not to mention scampi pieces with no scampi in them!) We did complain and were given a free drink! So although very disappointed with the complete change in menu as advertised, we decided that we would stick with it and perhaps get to dinner earlier the following evening in the hope they would not have ran out of anything. Well we did arrive earlier but they still didnt have some of the items we tried to order and this happened every single night apart from the Friday night (we were leaving Saturday) on one of the evenings we were offered (by a very embarrassed staff member) anything off the main menu to compensate and to be honest this was good, but sadly made us feel like the cheap skate family who couldnt afford the 'decent stuff'! And so to Breakfast! again the options were different to the downloaded menu, it would appear that the 3 hot items that the children could choose was a slice of undercooked dry toast, topped with beans and a sausage! as neither of our children like beans (odd I know) we had to get this changed and although every morning we went through the same rigmarole of explaining this they did give us the 3 options of choice. Also the kids do not get tea/coffee or toast/preserves as advertised, and you have to laugh but when my mother asked if she could get an extra tea for her granddaughter they would only give another pot of hot water! (Clearly a top of the range teabag they could not afford......try it!) The adult breakfasts were very hit and miss, undercooked/solid eggs, cold beans, tough bacon, cheap sausages, toast that was actually more like slightly stale bread, but sometimes you were lucky enough to get half a tomato and sometimes you got the advertised two slices of toast! all served with orange juice and bitter cold coffee (which they put down to cold cups and milk!) and tasteless cheap tea (not what would you would imagine as clearly they could not give us an extra bag!) So dont be fooled by the picture they have advertised next to the halfboard breakfast on the website, you only get one of everything and no plum tomatoes or mushrooms!! So to summarise, Trecco bay is a lovely park, with good facilities which I would actually recommend, but avoid the food! ......we have stayed at a lot worse - Park Holidays-Dawlish Sands!!)

This was our first stay at Trecco Bay and I was a tad disappointed. First the positives. 1) The camp is spotlessly clean and really close to the beach. 2) There was plenty on site to keep my 3 year old happy for the week. Now the negatives, 1) the park is lit up like a football stadium so if you like it dark to sleep look elsewhere. 2) the star of the pool area the pirate ship was out of action when we went swimming, my boy was so disappointed and I couldn't see any reason why this was the case. 3) everything on the park is expensive from the poor quality fish and chips to the food in the park dinner and pub. 4) the entertainment was poor. 2 hours every night of game shows on stage, not enough of Sid and Lizzie and the so called "laugh out loud" shows had us doing anything but! We enjoyed our holiday but I won't be rushing back.
