“A great week overall”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

After booking a caravan at pendine sands I then read the reviews on here, which were very mixed, more leaning to the negative so was unsure what to expect. I do agree there maybe could be more outside entertainment artists or just not ones who were famous in the 1960's!! With the exception of one of the female troupers who although wasn't the best singer she tried, we as a family party of 10 from 3wks-40 enjoyed the entertainment provided by the troupers. Cannot fault the kids clubs either, we didn't really eat in the restaurant regularly but when we did it wasn't the worst we've ever had. A small criticism though about bingo! It's a bit hard for people with young children to have to keep them quiet whilst bingo is on and we did notice more than a few leaving meaning they had to miss out on the rest of the evening. Overall we found all the staff friendly and helpful and the troupers great fun. We've booked again for next year!

We are a family of 6, four children age 17,14,8 and 5. The caravan we booked was supposed to be a 2014 model.. It was a 2013! On arrival we noticed the dirt, chocolate (at least I can only hope it was chocolate...) smeared all over windows and door frames, chunks of it stuck to the net curtains.. The toilet door was dirty and smeared... The bedroom walls also smeared with brown "stuff". We had no frying pan so Sunday morning cooked breakfast was done in a saucepan (once we had cleaned the remnants of the last guests food off it). The oven grill pan was full of dirty greasy fat. There were several plates with dried food on them. The lounge sofa was broken and my daughter fell through it when she sat down. The mirror above the (filthy) fireplace was missing. We complained and the duty manager came to investigate. He noted the concerns and agreed with us that it was unacceptable and said that he was meeting that afternoon with another manager and said that he would return the following day to discuss with us a solution. We never heard from him again. We were booked for 7 nights and left a day early it was unbearable to stay another day. The beach was great but totally dependant on the weather. The pool was dire. Tiny and shallow and boring. The clubhouse was dubbed "chavsville" by my teens it was as you'd expect - so if you like cheesy loud bad taste music (birdy dance - crazy frog in 2014??) very low budget kids entertainment (Sid and Lizzie costumes - no expense was spared obviously!!!) and a ton of nasty slot machines then go ahead and book but it wasn't for us. The duck inn was awful we were served by a guy who chain smoked outside and was never at the bar, he poured out the nasty wine from a box on the bar. classy. We wouldn't book again.

the caravan was brilliant and fully equipped, the park was lovely and very close to the sea, the local amenities are very good and the staff are lovely. we have returned to pendine many times over the last 18 years as we love the place but the entertainment has greatly decreased in quality over the years and this year was no exception. when the park was owned by haven, the entertainment was brilliant, unfortunately when parkdean took over, the quality slipped drastically. this year there were very few outside acts and the parkdean troopers were very lacking. the males were ok at singing and the NOT ELVIS act was very good but the female singers were shocking, we left the park earlier than planned as the entertainment was not worth staying for.

I booked a 4 day break at pendine as my partner insisted on a caravan holiday. When we arrived through narrow lanes we went to reception. We got our key and went to the caravan. The accommodation was pretty good and clean. We unpacked and hit the beach. And took a look at the few shops there. Went to sands club for tea (overpriced microwave rubbish, unhelpful bar staff) then went back to the caravan. A nice place to visit for a day but a whole week? No chance! Nothing else to do. The pool on site was colder than the sea! The only saving grace was the nice little chippy. NOT the contented sole. That was an absolute rip off. The chippy next to the premier shop were friendly and everything was fresh. A couple of local pubs - not much to write about. Over £600 for 4nights and spent a whole lot more on having to travel elsewhere to keep the kids occupied. Definitely put me off a wales holiday again.

Booked Pendine sands for my birthday with my family from the onset on arrival was met by a very unfriendly head of security who does boast that he is aggressive because he can and that's how he trains the staff!!!!!!! Very bad customer service and due to making a complaint ended up being escorted off site by the police!!!!!!!!! Entertainments team very rude and also aggressive and will excuse the immature quote gang up on you as if you are in a school yard!!!!!!!! food in the restaurant is more like cattle fodder very quickly prepared obviously microwaved I had onion soup with an advertised cheese croutton this was more on par with a bowl of sludge a slice of bread on top with cold grated cheese, security staff are very rude and overall the most unfriendly place I have ever visited. A weekend 3 night stay cost £276 money I could have just as easily thrown down a drain and had far more satisfaction from. The attitude from the staff is one of customers being second class citizens and below them. On making a complaint at the reception when booking out this was listened however not followed through eventually having to speak to the head office again my complaint was completely ignored until I finally spoke to Mr Schmidt around 5 weeks later don't waste your time, energy or money visiting this establishment and if Pendine Sands is anything to go by don't waste your money on any Parkdean environment as Tony the head of security boasts he trains all of Parkedean staff so prepare yourself for very poor service!!!!!!!!!! This establishment ruined my birthday and treated me as if I were a second class citizen!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Prepare yourself for quite a trek to the clubhouse!!!!

Stayed here in mid July. Weather was great. We were at the far end of the park past the Duck Inn, which meant quite a walk to the show bar, but this was not a problem as the kids loved riding their scooters each evening. The park itself was clean and tidy, as was our caravan. The staff were great. As this park is built around a village you also had the unusual choice of a couple of pubs, chips shops, shops, post office, cafes and even an Indian Takeaway!. The cafe at the front of the main complex (not part of Park Dean) was great value, with excellent food and service, it was even licenced. The beach was great. The location is very central to Tenby, Saundersfoot and many attractions. All in all a great time was had by the whole family and we would certainly return to this park. Saying that we have never had a bad experience at a Park Dean.

Stayed at Pendine Sands in July. Certainly a good place to be provided the weather is good which is was. Stayed in area Queensway which is at the extreme left hand side but by far the best place to be for everything. The site is very big with the Reception being nearer to the right hand side of the complex and not where you would have expected it to be but thankfully we didn't have to go there very often as everything was O.K. The caravan in all fairness was in an ideal place but we could have done with a wider one (stayed in a Towey) which was all they had left when we booked as we wanted a dog friendly caravan, but if we were to visit again, would definitely choose a wider one providing that it was on the Queensway site. Good food both at the Sands (on site) and also the other eating facilities in Pendine and we tried them all, were all good. To our surprise the sea was extremely warm and the kiddies (aged 4,6 & 7) were happy to stay in the water all day long. Life Guards patrolled the beach all day which was very reassuring. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, the kids loved the park and we adults were able to sit in the evening sunshine and keep an eye on them whilst having a drink outside with the dog. Would definitely return to Pendine but make sure you ASK for whatever part of the park you prefer as they are only to happy to try to meet your requests which in our case they did and we were 100% happy that we did. If you get allocated at the opposite end of the park to Pendine Hill, you will have a very long walk to get to the main facilities so make sure you are allocated the correct part of the park that you prefer.
