“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 17 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Quiet and beautiful location. Single track road with passing places was not an issue.
Good facilities.

“Very comfortable home from home in idyllic location”

Minafon Cottage is a lovely, relaxing place to stay in the beautiful quiet surroundings. The cottage is surrounded by a forest with a stream running past it for the kids to splash about in. There isn’t any mobile phone reception (fantastic!!) but there is free Wi-Fi (fast and reliable). Parking is provided and there is a garden for the kids to have a run about in. The large open plan kitchen/dining room set up was great for socialising and the cottage was roomy, clean and very well equipped and not lacking in anything. The 3 bedrooms were very well proportioned (double, twin, bunk) with loads of storage space. The bathroom was of high standards and towels were included.

The location was perfect and whilst there we visited Barmouth, Criccieth, Harlech, Betws y coed, Lake Vyrnwy, Langollen, Conwy and Portmeirion as they were all within easy range. There were plenty of helpful information leaflets provided in the cottage. It’s near the small town of Bala (12 minutes by car) for our all your shopping needs and whilst there you could visit Bala Lake and Bala Lake Railway.

Communication with owner and booking was very easy and he provided excellent directions on finding the cottage. Many thanks Mike, we had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to return again.

“Excellent cottage - a delightful stay”
Reviewed 30 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We loved staying in the cottage which is tastefully decorated, well equipped with good quality furniture and utensils, and wonderfully cosy and warm. The owner was very prompt and helpful with queries and the directions for finding the property were very thorough and clear. The area is stunning and it is in a good location for enjoying many of the wonderful things to do such as climbing Snowdon, White Water Rafting, steam railways, cycling round lakes and the amazing ZipWorld activities. We found Bala a charming little town, with friendly people and great facilities (including swimming pool with big slide and cinema). The only disappointment in the week was that the bathroom heating wasn't working, but otherwise we were very pleased with everything and would like to visit again.

“Nice accommodation, pity about Bala”
Reviewed 25 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The accommodation is a very nice forest cottage. Quite spacious inside, everything you could need was provided. Everything was clean and tidy. Only a couple of issues, neither is the fault of the owner. First is that fact you are about 3 miles outside of Bala on a single track country road. My major issue was Bala itself, the people there seem quite unfriendly to outsiders. We had a lot of sneers and sideways glances as we walked along the main street. I would recommend the rental itself but not the area.

“Ok for couples who arent fussed about amenties”
Reviewed 20 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Arrived on the saturday and I was greeted by 15-20 large spiders who had been living in the property. Thankfully my husband got rid of them! The facilities in Forestry Cottage are good but doors dont shut properly and I had a curtain pole fall on me! You will get zero phone reception but it does have wifi. The road to bala is very narrow and takes a while to drive 3 miles into bala. You will need a car. The garden is not really suitable for kids as is overgrown with weeds/nettles etc. The owner was very responsive to emails and messages and he sent through all the directions etc promptly. Overall we were disappointed but if you want a week away from EVERYTHING then this is for you.
