“Excellent place to stay with everything you need”
Reviewed 4 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My wife and I stayed for four nights, which probably was not long enough. Our expectations from the website were quite high, but the cottage and the grounds exceeded this. we would recommend a stay in any of the Rivercatcher properties to anyone.
Access to the property was easy and unloading the car next to your front door is always a help. The cottage had everything you need with a very nice welcome basket and included all the little basic things you need for washing up etc. We generally cooked for ourselves every night.
The rooms were all very nice and spacious for the two of us. Nice details like hidden lights over the fireplace. Very comfortable and easy to relax in, with lovely views of the River Dee from the kitchen and dining table.
If you just want to chill and stay around the cottages, there is the lodge with table tennis, table football and a large TV, a good sized fenced off grassed area for yourselves plus access to the river and a patio with barbeque and hot tub, ideal for weary limps after a long walk. There are plenty of walks locally too. You've also got Wi-Fi and Netflix on the TV.
Aled looks after the place and keeps the grounds in excellent shape and the hot tubs well maintained. He's very friendly and helpful.
Also a short walk down the road is Tyddyn Llan, a Michelin starred Restaurant. Beautiful food with very amble portions, but you can go for two starters rather than a starter and a main, which would have been plenty for us.
Of the local attractions we visited Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest single drop waterfall in the UK, and which is considerably higher than the Niagara Falls. It not far away on the map but will take you 40 minutes in the car. It is worth a visit. The is a paying car park, but you can park in a lay-by just down the road and it is then a short walk. if you do though beware of the protruding rocks that may catch the underside of your car. There is a café by the falls.
Snowdon is not too far away and Betws-y-Coed is a good place to stop at. The tea rooms by the station have the longest list of teas we have ever seen. If you plan to use the train make sure you book.
Portmeirion is somewhere very special an din eth sunshine it is just like being in Italy.
To finish we would recommend Rivercatcher to anyone.

“Quality accommodation in a superb setting”

Ghillie's Cottage ticked every box for a relaxing self catering break; a really well equipped cottage with a gorgeous view and access to the river. All of our needs were catered for; the hot tub and log burner were very welcome when it rained and the weather turned cold. The cottage was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. Highly recommend

We spent two days at Rivercatcher for our honeymoon. It was a beautiful setting - peaceful and relaxing, and well worth a visit.

The cottage was exceptionally clean and well presented and the owners have created a very welcoming feel, with personal touches to the cottage and a fantastic welcome basket of local goodies.

The hot tub was a definite must!

I booked mid November as a birthday treat for Simon. He was overjoyed. The property was beautifully layed put, with great care to keep to Welsh product. Quality is unsurpassed. The hot tub went down a treat after I dragged him out for a walk to the aqueduct ;-)
Best yet from my point of view, my dogs were allowed and was safe in an enclosed garden. We will definitely return for this delightful property & its amenities.

I cannot rate this place highly enough. I booked Rivercatcher as a surprise for my girlfriend for our anniversary and I'm so glad I did.
The cottage was immaculate and I couldn't find a single fault. It was lovely arriving after a long drive to find a great welcome basket in the kitchen and fresh milk in the fridge. We hadn't even thought of bringing simple things like tea or coffee but this was all provided too!
The hot tub was fabulous and the fire made the cottage so cosy in the evenings.
The surroundings were stunning. We were lucky to have brilliant weather the whole time we were there which made it even better.
It was great being able to read the guest books and get tips from other guests, as I hadn't researched much of the area. We spent a day at Barmouth (about 35miles from Rivercatcher) which was lovely in the sunshine. We also climbed Snowdon for the first time! We're not big walkers so went for the "easy" Llanberis Path (about an hours drive from Rivercatcher). The views from the top are incredible. I would encourage anyone to do it. And relaxing in the hot tub back at the cottage after was perfect!
We also stopped at Pistyll Rhaeadr (highest waterfall in Wales and England). Would also highly recommend this!
We met Aled (the Rivercatcher "maintenance man"). He was lovely to chat too and obviously knew the area really well.
We had a perfect few days away at Rivercatcher and we will definitely be back, hopefully sometime this year.

Wow!! Where do I start? The cottage was so delightful and the attention to detail is simply overwhelming. The finishing touches, welcome basket, fire, hot tub and beautiful surrounding is stunning. Our stay could not have been any more perfect, especially with the hot tub after an afternoon of white water rafting!
We loved it so much that we have already booked to go back next year. There are only amazing things that we can say about this place and can't thank Rivercatcher enough for treasured memories of such a wonderful and romantic weekend!!

“Beautiful little hideaway with great amenities”

My partner and I stayed at Ghillie's Cottage for a long weekend in February 2015. After looking at all the holiday rental reviews in Wales that we could find on Trip Advisor, we decided that this idyllic little cottage would be the one for us.
When we drove up to the group of cottages, we were pleased to see that they were just like the pictures! After a long drive from N. London, we felt right at home as soon as we opened the front door. The cottage was warm, cosy with underwater heating. Massive plus points for the hot tub (amazing after a day of hiking/ climbing Snowdon), comfortable and beautifully decorated living space with log burner, Netflix and Wifi (especially as it is pretty much impossible to get this anywhere else in the area!), brilliant kitchen and welcome basket.
We are really grateful that we were able to bring our puppy with us as well.
The cottages are close (by car) to attractions such as Mount Snowdon and Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.
Thanks for a lovely and relaxing stay.
