“Mini Carlsbad”

All what you expect from a cave. High variety of beautiful formations and scenery. Absolutely worth the trip if you are staying in the Lucerne or Zurich area. Thee is a typical Kiosk that sells the tickets, but also snacks and drinks. The Cave consists out of 2 levels with stairs to climb. After exiting a small walk back down the entrance. All in all pretty good accessible when stairs are no issue. Good Parking space.

“Fine for a quick visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

This is a good place to go for a few hours if you need something "adventurous" to do with a mixed group of people .... the caves are not too extensive, well lit and there is not much climbing to do. Clothes will remain clean since you hardly ever need to bend or squeeze through any small passages....
They are probably even suitable for mildly claustrophobic people since they are quite well lit and not too "tight".... I wouldn't risk it though.

There is plenty of space to park and you can even get drinks and probably something to eat. From there you can also walk on a gravel road along the river....

“an awesome experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

This wonderfully lit cave with different colored light just give you goose bumps as you walk past the narrow path way. The formations are of numerous kinds more than an experienced cave traveller can even think of. Besides the formations look wet and live as if still undergoing transformation. Its all the cave wonders packed in a small place and at time you feel where to look ground, ceiling front back left or right. From all angles it looks spectacular. The guide posts are quite explanatory. There are two caves an upper and a lower one. No bar in photographing without flash, obviously its highly recommended not to touch these formations for posing for a pic. The entrance fee is 10chf. Its a 15min hike from the Tobelbrucke bus stop.

“Very nice during warm summer days!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2013

They have just renovated the caves. There are two caves now. It is very interesting to see how it is inside the mountain. The stories to the cavities are entertaining. It is quite cool inside and it is very good when you want to cool down during summer time. You can park close to it or park in Baar and walk through the forest along the Lorze. It is a very pleasant walk.

“Living Caves - Quaint Drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

Not the easiest attraction to find - but definitely worth the effort:) GPS and Iphone just couldn't seem to find the exact country road to get us to these caves, but after asking directions several times we found the little sign pointing to the narrow road that leads to the caves, an active small river and a very nice restaurant.

Not on the level of some of the caves I've been to in America and Australia, but definitely worth the time if you like caves - especially active ones with running water and formations being created all the time. Very low tech, but well lit and signage in German and English.

You will have to do a bit of hiking to get up to the cave entrance, but if I can make most able people won't have a problem. And the surrounding forest and nature is part of the appeal.

Great formations, good history on the signage, and only about 50 degrees inside so very refreshing in the summer. Advise you wear boots (though I did fine in tennis shoes) and a light jacket/rain coat since the ceilings have frequent drips and drops.
