“A unique and beautiful place to stay”
Reviewed 20 September 2011 for a stay in August 2011

Casa Spello was the perfect place for us to stay as we explored Italy. We stayed in Tiberius (3 bedroom, 2 bath). Perfect location, size and amenities for our week long stay. When we first arrived we were met by Nadia who walked us to the aprtament and helped us get settled. We were able to prearrange a home cooked, authenticate Italian meal prepared by Nadia. She had everything ready and waiting for us when we got in on that first day. Nadia is a great cook and it was much appreciated after a long day of traveling! The property had a beautiful deck and garden, which we took advantage of every night. The view was spectacular.

“A lovely apartment in Spello”
Reviewed 23 August 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We recently stayed at Casa Spello and thoroughly enjoyed our week in this wonderful town. The apartment was very spacious (Marc Anthony) and had everything we needed to have a relaxing week. The kitchen was well stocked and there was a lovely goodies basket waiting for us when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and the property stayed very cool - even in July. Nadia and Gina were very helpful and gave us a lot of suggestions of where to go and where to eat.

Spello itself is beautiful, but it is VERY hilly! We enjoyed the exercise, but if you don't want a workout, don't go there. You can't park your car very close to the apartment, so there is a bit of a hike to get your luggage to and from. But, that being said ... we would go back in a minute. There are so many wonderful little towns nearby (Montefalco, Bevagna, Assisi, etc.) to explore. We did a cooking class with Letizia in Assisi, which was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. There are many good restaurants in and around Spello as well. We hated to leave!

“The perfect base for exploring Umbria”
Reviewed 21 June 2011 for a stay in May 2011

We were 3 couples and we stayed in the Tiberius and Augustus apartments the week of May 21st. I was responsible for the booking and found Gina very responsive and accessible in working out the payments and arrangements.

Spello is an absolutely PERFECT hilltown. I would recommend it as a base to anyone, perfect for exploring Deruta, Assisi, Montefalco, Bevanga, Spoleto and more. Our apartments were superbly located and felt very comfy with everything we needed for a week's stay, stocked with paper products, some cooking ingredients (oil, vinegar, salt, etc). The views were definitely better from the Augustus apartment, as Tiberius was once a cellar and is very old and made of stone (not many windows) It has a lot of charm, and that is what attracted us, but it was also a little dark. If you don't mind that, you'll love it. The bathrooms were great - showers were great and we had more than enough room for our party of 6 adults.

The shared garden is beautiful with great views of Assisi... We enjoyed wine, cheese, prosciutto and olives with a couple from Australia that were staying in another unit and it was a very nice time. This was suggested by the owner and was a nice recommendation.

The restaurants in Spello are great - so easy to walk to and really delicious food. Our favorite was Porta Venere - we ate there twice and would love to go back. We also enjoyed La Bastiglia for a leisurely Sunday lunch on the terrace, La Cantine and Enoteca Properzio.

Service from Nadia, the caretaker, was very good as she came by mid-week to change the linens and she also hung out / folded our laundry.

Go to Spello... you'll love it!

“Spello splendissima indeed......the perfect place to stay :-)”
Reviewed 21 June 2011 for a stay in April 2011

We were fortunate enough to take the advice of all the Tripadvisor reviews and book Casa Spello (Marc Anthony Unit) for 7 weeks through March and April 2011! What a wonderful stay. From the moment I first contacted Gina, I realised we were onto something special but little did I know how perfect Casa Spello was to become. Spello itself is the most magical place, and to have a "home from home" in the top of the walled town, just minutes from everything was incredible. Marc Anthony is just one of four units, and is the only unit to have direct access to the large garden - perfect for us as we travelled with 2 bikes!. The other three units can all access the garden through the gate. There are a number of seating areas available and we spent many mornings, lunchtimes and evenings there, soaking up the amazing Umbrian spring sunshine and simply relaxing. The unit is very well equipped which meant that you really could cook in...though you will be tempted out as there are some wonderful places to eat very reasonably priced food. If you are into walking and cycling, Spello is a fantastic base with so many amazing walks at your doorstep. There are cobbles to deal with on two wheels, but that added to the adventure!

Spello is simply an awesome town - so much so that having left over a month ago, we are still talking about it every day: the restaurants, the countryside, the olive trees, the people, the gelati...tutti e fantastico!

“Perfect choice in a perfect place! Please don't find it! It's our secret.”

This place was a bit of heaven with a gorgeous view and all the amenities you would need when traveling abroad. The unit consisted of one bedroom on the upper level, 1.5 baths which was great because you could use the half bath when downstairs, a very modern bathroom with two sinks upstairs, a small patio but a large garden with a gorgeous view of the west and the sunsets and a living room with a fireplace. Oh, I forgot the kitchen which was adequately equipped for us because we spent more time looking out the gorgeous window. We even took a cooking lesson from a charming woman named Justice Tower, who was so gracious, she took us for a tour of the local fruit and vegetable store owned by Patrizia and then to the macelleria owned by Sauro. This set the day for a cooking lesson about making gnocchi and sauces and then we went for a long walk.

This place was heaven. There is nothing negative I can say but please don't go there. It is our secret.
