“Best place for food with a view!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Returning to Spello meant we had to come here for lunch, surprisingly we were the first arrivals, the waiter was chased up and he quickly appeared (finishing putting on his waistcoat), handing over a wine list with the menu.
We were in no hurry to order as the view from the dinning terrace is stunning, however after sampling our wine we placed the order.
As you would expect Chicken Cacciatore was on the menu and my wife had to have this dish, one of the best ever she noted, following a superb melon with Parma ham. I had a pasta dish followed by a pizza both passed with full marks, before finishing with melon (the healthy bit).
So after 2 hours enjoying the view and savouring the food we were presented with a bill for 58 Euros, a bargain for the quality of food washed down with a bottle of wine.
Make a point of visiting Spello and having lunch at this excellent restaurant.

“Excellent Service and Fantastic Food”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

The service here was fantastic. Our waiter looked like he was working the whole room, but we still felt like he was there just for us. He was happy to recommend things, have a chat and even to tweak some menu items for the kids. The food was also sensational.

“Fabulous meal and fabulous host!”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We ate here our last night in Spello after noticing the balcony restaurant from the view through the front doors on a walk on Via Giulia - intriguing! We were NOT disappointed. In fact, this was one of the most memorable dining experiences we had while in Italy, and there were many wonderful ones! First of all, we arrived early (6:45, our American hunger clocks working overtime), as the restaurant (like most we saw) didn't start serving until 7:30. But our host Maurizio, though he was preparing the dining room for the customers to come, was most gracious to us, seating us on the balcony (our choice) and getting us wine while we waited until 7:30 to order. He took time from his busyness to make sure we were okay, and spent a little while getting to know us, and we him, between his trips to the kitchen and interior dining room making sure all was ready. We were quite spoiled! And the panoramic view of the Umbrian countryside from the balcony was enough on its own to make our wait quite pleasant, but getting to know Maurizio and being well-cared for really put our experience over the top - and this even before the food! So wonderful! We highly recommend the Antipasti Cacciatore, Pappardelle al Cinghiale (my new favorite food on the planet), Cinghiale al Forno (casserole), lasagna (you may think you know lasagna, but until you've had it in Italy.......and at Il Cacciatore)!, and Insalate Mista - better than any we had in Italy!, we ended the meal with cappuccinos and a lovely nectarine tart. We watched the sunset, and then the moonrise, so very romantic and relaxing. Can't say enough about the restaurant, the views, and the host!

“Excellent food and matching service”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

Two couples dined there two nights, reflecting our high opinions of our first night. We had multiple dishes, all excellent, with a wonderfully helpful waiter. Particularly enjoyed were the grilled veal slices, and somewhat heartier, the roman style sausage and veal - both quite memorable.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

This was our first time in this restaurant and we were thrilled with the location, food, wine and service. Amazing views from the terrace. Tables exquisite. Gentle lighting. The service was incredible. Efficient, friendly and our waiter made us feel very special. We had bruschetta followed by the Pollo Cacciatore with roasted, stuffed vegetables. It was also beautifully cooked, really well presented and tasted delicious! We were too full for desserts but they did look very tempting and good sized portions. Must also return for the pasta dishes. the pasta is home-made. House red wine was also very good and they are very proud to serve the local organic virgin olive oils. I organise painting holidays and will definitely be bringing some of my groups here next year to paint and eat., Very moderate pricing. Our meal of two courses, coffee, a digestive, half a litre of red wine and water came to €43 .
