Recently friends and family joined my Mum and Dad to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at the Newmachar Hotel. Understandably it meant a great deal to them and they were anxious that everything should be just right. This was not an easy gig for the hotel, my folks are Christians, tee-total and very particular in what they wanted.
Owner Grant, Manager Andy and the team did brilliantly. The place looked lovely, the food was superb and the service was prompt, friendly and very professional.
At my parents request the hotel had closed the bar in the main area where we were but the public bar next door was still open as normal to local customers. On the one occasion that it got even slightly noisy I watched three members of staff shoot immediately next door to tell whoever it was to shush.
My folks loved it and were blown away by the kindness and attention to detail shown by the team. I can't recommend it highly enough, thank you.

Annoyed me when I asked if they would put a Liverpool game on the TV in the back room on the small TV while the rangers game was on. "this is a Scottish pub" yes but I'd prefer to watch the Liverpool game......didn't happen. Haven't been back since. But it reckons itself. Mediocre at best

Stopped here for lunch before flying out of nearby Dyce.
Had haddock and chips, sticky toffee pudding.
Very good comfort food, friendly waitress, comfortable surroundings.
Parking out front, and apparently some more parking out back.

Attended recently for burger night. Had high hopes and was really looking forward to it. There was a big crown of us who majority had burgers some off main menu. I asked if I could possibly have house burger but with chicken breast instead which was no problem. When it arrived I had been given a breaded chicken fillet. It was ok but nothing startling. Husband said his beef burger was pretty dry and tasteless. Chips were just frozen I thought be at least hand cut. Son had mac n cheese which again was quite poor and he hardly ate any of it. He was last be served out of everyone and given sweet potato fried and chips on his plate. Again bit disappointing but he ate them all up. I would probably attend again but not on burger night far better places to go and get a good burger.
