“A wonderful, quiet place”
Reviewed 18 September 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at Lucy's for 10 days in July and August. The outside temperature was 35-40 °C during the day, but the house did not get that hot. We spent mornings and evenings on the upper terrace for breathtaking view of the sunrise, the valley and surrounding hills, every now and then, the Rock of the Gibraltar.

The house itself has three floors and two terraces. There is some of Lucy's stuff here and there - it makes the place more home-like. Everything you need is provided. With the barbeque on the terrace you really don't need to cook. The only thing that was missing was a sun-umbrella for the beach. We bought one and left it there for the next year.

About the pool in the hotel next door. You pay approx. 4 Euros per day per person. It makes sense to come in the morning, if you want to get a sunbed with an umbrella. The river was unfortunately dried out in July. But it takes only half an hour by car to get to the beach.

The area is very quiet (with some exceptions), you have people sitting at the front doors chatting. They are friendly and talk to you in Spanish. We got kind of frinds with the neighbours who take care about the house, even without undestanding the language. It is definetly not a tourist place, but you can get through with English and some broken Spanish. Food is great and relatively cheap.

There are only two disadventages of the place: First, the bell at the tower of the city hall - it rings every hour also at night. Second, a rooster next door which screams randomly, also at night.

But even with the small shortcomings, still 5 stars and we'll be back.

Thankyou Tim and Anna for the great review, it is true about the rooster and the clock!

For when you come back, there are some big stretches where the river still flows deep in summer, there must be underground springs or something because it stays cool, I was in it yesterday and out of my depth for a lot of it. Walk on the path on the village side of the river and you will come accross them.
I'm so pleased you had a great time.
