“Great for a Costa Blanca base”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

Fantastic little place in a quite area of Benissa Coastal, and very close to Moriaria.

Completely practical and an excellent basis for all of your adventurers in the area. The hotel only offers bed and breakfast, but this is not a down point as the number of bars and restaurants there are to see in the area is incredible and something that should be savoured with virtually every cuisine catered for. Breakfasts are extremely good continental breakfasts and seem never to run out! So there is always food... the pool is beautiful to relax around and in very calm/tranquil grounds. My wife and I couldn't ask for much more on our two week stay. The owners couldn't be more friendly and happy to help at every moment they can.... Excellent all the way through...

The only thing that could possibly have made the "Excellent" rating an "Excellent ++" is the possibility of coffee/tea making in the room...

Thank you for a great time all at Hotel Montemar

Room Tip: If possible get a pool view room as this is the "sea" side of the hotel and the amount of...

A lovely welcome on arrival to this sweet, unpretentious hotel.

Neat and clean throughout it offer a welcome respite from a day travelling.

The grounds, though small, offer a lovely pool and places to sit and have a beer or coffee out of the sun

The hotel only offers breakfast but there are many good restaurants nearby.

What more can one ask for?

I enjoyed my stay at this adorable bed and breakfast. For a reasonable rate you get personalized service (owners are very nice and accommodating and around most of the day), good breakfast, clean and nice swimming pool and outdoor area for lounging, and great restaurant next door. It is not within walking distance of the beach and is a 10 walk to restaurants. Negatives: Room did smell a bit moldy and I could hear people in the hallway and one of the adjacent rooms pretty easily. However, I would stay here again for a quiet and relaxing stay. Need a car to get to beach, Moraira restaurants, but parking is free at the hotel and taxis are inexpensive to this area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

I am a sceptical traveller but Joachim and Michaela Winkler are running the best place I have stayed in for a very long time.
Specifics: they are very friendly, adequate English, helpful (kept stuff for us in the fridge, gave us a doctor's address) and always around. The place has eight rooms overlooking the pool (and I think four others on the other side): rooms have good aircon, TV, shower, beds comfortable. We took 3 of the 4 overlooking the pool on the first floor (American usage second floor) for a week's stay.
Breakfast 8:30 to 10;30 is cold food but good coffee, fresh fruit changes every day, good tables outside in shade. Condition of hotel: absolutely spotless and clean, not a drop of dirt anywhere and that includes the car park. Surroundings: there is an adequate Italian hotel next door that is open in the evening, 300 yards walk to a shingle beach with a good cafe/bar at least in the summer. 300 yards by a back street to supermarket, bank, etc. Joachim pointed all of this out to us.
Just to show this is a real review here are things that are not perfect (but there is a snake even in Paradise): a bit of traffic noise sometimes from the road outside, it can occasionally but a bit tough to fit into their car park because of the restaurant parking (but then we just parked in the restaurant parking area)

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking pool best: ground floor overlooking pool next best.

This hotel is run very efficiently. Our room as indeed the whole property was a very high standard. The swimming pool was inviting and just a few steps from our room. Breakfast was simple but with top quality ingredients. The adjoining Italian restaurant offered good quality food at a very reasonable price.Moraira, our favourite resort in the area was just four kilometres along the scenic road.Altogether a very relaxing location with attentive but unobtrusive hosts.

Room Tip: Pool facing

Great little hotel tucked off the main road. Lovely room overlooking the pool. Everything spotlessly clean. Due to the time of year the hotel was practically empty so we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast very simple continental but of very good quality. Restaurant next door but short walk to more. Will definitely go back.

We found this little intimate hotel by just doing a random google search of B&Bs in the Moraira/Calpe area of the nothern Costa Blanca in Spain. It was so good i don't really know where to start!! First of all i must praise the owners for their warm friendly welcome. We were shown to our room overlooking the beautiful pool and immaculately kept gardens...the room was so clean and well equipped for our stay that we actually stayed 2 nights instead of the original one night stay that we had planned! In the room......the shower was great with lots and lots of hot water at all times, the beds were the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever had, beautifully made up with crisp white cotton sheets and comfy pillows too!! The only thing missing in the room were tea/coffee making facilities....and perhaps a little more varied choice at the buffet breakfast....however we loved the food that was available and being able to eat in the shady patio garden was just perfect....the lady who cleaned the rooms was so friendly too. All in all absolutely brilliant...we will be back very soon to stay at the Hotel Montemar, Benissa, Costa Blanca. Thankyou Michaela and Joachim for a wonderful stay at your hotel. Alison & Ian Jack.
