“Large scale charter impression - not a peaceful spa”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2012

This is a Hotel with nice Japansese inspired rooms, not a spa, and definitely not a Japanese bath (Onsen) even if the web site and marketing tries to give you that impression. The hotel has some very nice rooms with separate baths in Japanese style and the restaurant has many interesting Japan-inspired dishes worth trying. The prices are high or very high and the delivered quality varies. The whole establishment give you an impression that it is built for very large conference groups, and maybe as a conference or group travel guest you would be better taken care of than as a couple. We were unfortunate to book a day when the baths and restaurants were filled with kids - not at all peaceful. Many things were far from what we expected, maybe because it was in the summer and they were working on re-constructing the premises. It has potential!

Room Tip: Double check what is included, compared to the presentation on the web site. Ask if all restaurants...

Yasuragi is a quiet and relaxing spa hotel in Stockholm archipelago, 30 minutes taxi drive from city center. I stayed here for one night and spent 24 hours wearing only Japanese bathrobe yukata and slippers - even while having dinner.
Here you don't have to stress about how you look. You'll totally forget it.
Japanese bath is amazing, especially the hot pool outside in a forest.
The place is huge and it feels like a labyrinth. It takes awhile to get around the hotel and it almost require a navigator.
What they should improve is their service. When I checked in I was given my room key but they didn't explain anything: Where is the spa? The opening hours? What to wear? When and where breakfast is served?

Nice spa hotel with good food. The hotel is quite large and flat so it is quite a long distances to walk from room to spa department. Many fun activities to participate in (tea tasting, karate, yoga, etc.) and slippers, yukata and swimsuit free of charge to take home.

High quality location, though it's a bit pricey. The dining is excellent and the heated outdoor pools are very relaxing and quite a blast to be in when there is some snow around.

The facility itself could use some more work as there are huge slabs of concrete visible here and there.

This place a few miles outside central Stockholm is very quiet and relaxing place. The warm baths (can recommend the silent section) and the slow activites really makes you forget the busy everyday life. The food is also excellent with sushi and sashimi as starters, followed by a Teppanyaki show (although I have seen much better). All this does of course come with a price! And in this case the price is a bit too high considering the service and the quality of accomodation you get. The standard rooms are also a bit old and in need of refurbishment. It was a great one-time experience, but I will not return.

I visited with a largeish group of colleagues some time ago (I checked friends, not business to describe the trip - this is not a business hotel and this was more a celebratory visit).

The rooms were ok, the spa was nice and tranquil (maybe not the best fit for our group) but the dinner was truly excellent. We had a nine course dinner and some really nice sake. The chefs were preparing the food on a stainless steel plate, with the diners (perhaps 9 each table) sitting around, getting immediately the dishes.

The dinner was truly the highlight of the visit - the reason why I would come back gladly. One of the best dinner's I've ever had.

The place is mainly used for meetings and conferences, but also for couples that enjoy a week-end in the japanese SPA. The building clearly shows the construction of the 60ies, with concrete and ugly roofs. From the other side the pools indoor and outdoor are really nice, with a great view. The service is discrete, with some of them talking a very poor english. The rooms are in japans style, and it is possible to sleep, even if it is not so comfortable.
