We wanted a quick trip away not far from Haworth in Yorkshire. Abbey Lodge in nearby Shipley came up and sounded worth a punt. We were really pleased with our choice – staff were invariably polite, friendly and efficient, room clean as a new pin with a very high standard of fittings in the en-suite. The shower was a real pleasure to use. Highly efficient heating with individual controls in the room. Private parking was available at the rear of the hotel, and is protected by CCTV – bit it seemed a very pleasant area anyway. As well as being easy distance from Haworth, a big bonus is that the hotel is only a 10 -15minute walk from Saltaire village. We hadn't been before and spent a really pleasant afternoon wondering around the interesting world heritage site, and visiting the David Hockney gallery based there. (The hotel is also easy walking distance from an excellent indian restaurant.) Breakfast was superb, a broad choice including a delicious home-made fruit salad, cereals, toast, tea and good quality coffee etc. all in a delightfully informal, but efficient environment, with as much of everything you could want. Loved it, would not hesitate to recommend it, and we'll be back as soon as we get the chance for another short break up there.

The Abbey lodge is a very basic hotel and the service and rooms were acceptable.

My room was very small and I had a comfortable night's sleep until I woke a little after 6 am to the overpowering smell of fried food drifting up from the kitchen ( I think my room must have been directly above it). It was enough to completely put me off trying the breakfast and ever staying there again.

Beware also of the limited parking.

We stayed there at the end of Sept. We were very happy with the facilities & the staff were excellent - very pleasant & very helpful. Even tho' the place is older (like us) it is well looked after. We had booked a twin room (only twin & double showed up) but I e-mailed to ask if they had a king, which they did & gave us this room for same price. We were pleasantly surprised that it was such a large room & bathroom facilities were great. Breakfast options were good - a nice variety & if you chose a full English Breakfast, it was well presented & good food. Not far to walk to restaurants in the area for evening meals. Parking limited but available & there is parking on street if lot behind is full. Probably only criticism would be that although lights come on in hallway as we walked to our room (on main floor at the back), the hallway was painted quite dark - would have been nice to have it a bit brighter. Wifi was available in lounge but touch & go in our room but that wasn't a big problem for us. We had originally booked 4 nights, then ended up having to change plans but the reception staff
was very helpful with this & called up booking.com so that we could change our reservation which we had to do since we had booked through them. All in all, we stayed 3 nights and we would highly recommend it. It was also excellent value

Room Tip: Even if you book through a booking company like booking.com, don't hesitate to enquire directly...

The staff at this hotel are brilliant they really looked after my partner and myself

when we originally booked the, advisor on the telephone gave us the wrong price for the executive room but they honored the price we were quoted.

Room was immaculate clean and plenty tea and coffee facilities

Tv facilities were great even had a blu ray DVD player in the room if I had known I would have brought a couple of DVDs

The breakfast was very good and very hearty plenty toast plenty tea also, as well as a selection of cereals and a range of fruit juice.

We were meant to leave on the Tuesday but I became unwell on the Tuesday morning and, I ended up staying an extra day.

The staff were fantastic and made sure I was well looked after and during the day my partner went to reception and asked for some toast, I was only expecting a couple of slices but they came down with 2 toast rack fulls which was brilliant.

I cannot fault them on much apart from one fault

The steps leading down to the room is inadequate needs to be brighter this would be the only fault especially if someone has bad eyesight

There is a wifi connection but you need to get the password from reception/bar, this is to stop outsiders, gaining access to there wifi

you were only supposed to get the signal from the bar area but I managed to get a signal from my room which was better for me

Great service great hotel great bar would recommend to anybody

We stayed here for just one night in September. We chose it for its location.
The outside is okay, and the stairs and hall decor is slightly dark and rather dated plus old. However, the rooms are contemporary and just delightful - wonderfully clean and spacious and very nice.
The breakfast was fair - rather like a transport cafe - not great quality of food, quite greasy and not a great selection of "fresh food" like fruit, rolls, croissants etc.
Overall, when in the room this is a great little overnight stop. The staff are helpful and polite, very chatty and lovely.
