I made the mistake of going to the wrong Ibis, having looked up the postcode online. I ended driving to a budget Ibis in Bradford which is very different. (£25 per night and I suspect you get what you pay for.)
My bill for two nights at the Ibis in Shipley was about £90 for two nights . The breakfast (extra cost) is convenient because there is little else in the locality at that time. The hot breakfast was not really very pleasant, but other diners seemed to be tucking in: very tired scrambled eggs , tinned mushrooms, sausages ( looked big but I did not taste them), quite thick slices of chewy bacon, hash browns. All the food appeared to have been there for quite a while. The next day I chose cold food, which was much better: granola, strawberries, yoghurt. There is the usual sliced factory white or brown bread for toast but best of all very tasty knobbly brown bread you can slice yourself. The toaster did not like it but I did. Usual plastic containers of jam and honey, and orange or apple drink. Plus a machine for various coffees.
On TA advice I chose a canal side room, which though pre booked I needed to insist on. This was a good size, comfortable bed, excellent black out curtains to keep the early dawn at bay. A view across the canal to other buildings and the tow path below , to Saltaire , used by runners, walkers and cyclists. A good sized walk in shower ( no bath) but useful for steaming clothes into shape! Usual TV, small desk, hanging space. There is a downstairs ironing room, and ice machine opposite.
I only ate at the hotel on the first night, because I had got there late. It was a considerable wait for food, which they apologised for, and not really very interesting to eat, though nicely presented . Other diners sat with the free i paper, eating alone or in whispering pairs.
The walk to Saltaire is short, there are restaurants there which I have visited before :' Vicars' and 'Dont tell Titus' both good for different reasons. This time I ate at the local Tapas bar, a very short walk across the canal bridge from the hotel. It had a pre 6.30 meal deal, and a good ambience and choice of food.
This hotel had good location for my needs, friendly and helpful multi-tasking staff if rather slow at their jobs, and a reasonable price. To find it, it's off the Salt Mill Road, behind the Vauxhall garage. It has it's own free car park.
