The village is a UNESCO World Heritage Center, beautifully situated in the hills on the banks of the Aire and with fast access from Leeds and Bradford by rail. My visit was primarily to Salt's Mill, (http://www.saltsmill.org.uk/) the original mill of the 19th c model village, converted to a cultural center (free entrance) to house works by David Hockney, also including small shops, history of the area and good dining options. The well-preserved village is worth a walk and there are other buildings of interest. Outdoor dining by the river and an extensive park add to the attractions. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1028
