“Victorian department store”
Reviewed 6 September 2012 via mobile

What a pity English Heritage couldn't run this place. So much history,so many beautiful buildings and so well preserved. And what do we have in the main mill building? Joy of joys, a multi floor shopping and food outlet . If you were expecting a working mill, with people wearing authentic costumes to give you the feel of past times, dream on. Yes, the residential village, the church, and the exterior of the mills is really impressive, and yes you do get a tiny area with a short video of the history of the place, but what a shame someone has tried to make this a commercial venture when this is part of our history. And don't give me that this is the only way to keep the buildings maintained. Why do you think we have the National Trust ,

“Titus Salts legacy”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

Wander around the quaint houses which are quite tiny, read some of the street names a lot of are names of people. Enjoy a stroll around Roberts Park and let the children have fun on the swings, in the skateboard park or play in the sand pit. Visit one of the cafes or browse in the local shops. Definitely visit 'Fanny's Alehouse' before leaving.

“Great Historical Place to Visit”
Reviewed 29 August 2012

This World Heritage site is a fascinating place to stroll around with streets of fascinating houses and Grade I listed church. Also a great bakers shop and the Mill to visit with art displays. Don't miss the Victoria Hall with it's Wurlitzer cinema organ which comes up through the stage!
