“An hidden Yorkshire gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Saltaire is a world heritage site, just like Sydney opera house, the great wall of china and Auschwitz birkenau to name a few. It is extremely accessible from all areas of Yorkshire and it really is an hidden gem for all to enjoy.

“Nice little place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

Took the kids for a day out wasn't really much for them to do, nice big park and a tramline that wasn't running , , Hirst wood is worth a walk through nice and clean probably wouldn't go back but if you have dogs it's worth a visit as lots of walks.

I love Saltaire.I am a local and love to walk through the park over the river and canal and railway to the shops!.there is something for everyone .from the childrens playaprk alongside Roberts park..to the cafe in the Park itself .The cafe is alonside the cricket pitch. You can sit watching a match and drinking tea or coffee and others having fun on the grass alongside the river.Or if you prefer there is the Boathouse pub at the other side of the river,The canal is lovely to walk along ..Watch the waterbirds and the barges.then of course there is Salts mill to roam around..a variety of things to see or buy or eat!!.The railway station is right in the middle of the village so good for travel to the village .Then of course the shops and houses to wander through(where my fathers family lived when he was small) At the top end of the main street are Victoria Hall where there are often events to visit .There are lots of good eating places. Also nearby is Shipley Glen tramway which can be incorporated into a visit to Saltaire.

Proud on my doorstep. It's a Victorian village, why would you expect disabled facilities on the pavements in the village? Get a grip!

“Plenty to do at this world heritage site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

There is a lot to do in Saltaire, a gem of a village.
Salts Mill is a good starting point with the David Hockney gallery, a very small exhibition on Saltaire, various shops and Salts Diner.
You can get a map from the tourist information next door to follow a walking tour around the village - built to house the workers of Salts Mill and an amazing achievement for the time. Lots of places to eat/drink/shop en route. Canal boats on the river, childrens playground, park and the Shipley Glen tramway round off the day.
Very pleasant and unusual place to spend an afternoon - art, history and plenty to see.
