We're always a bit difficult to please. Vegetarian, watching calories, we want one main course between two (then we can eat a cake!)
Salts Diner simply bring the food, extra plate, big knife to divide it. Staff couldn't be nicer.
The setting is great too. Make your way through art books and materials shop, which doubles as a gallery, and up past a really pleasant bookshop, to get here. It really is one of the best approaches to a restaurant.
The food is more bistro than formal dinner, very well served and presented and very tasty. On busy days you won't get a table although it looks as though regulars and organised visitors book in advance.
Lastly it is a bit noisy. The floors are stone (yes, on the second floor) and the space is rather large, so sounds do travel and echo a bit.

Thank Hugo M

Another trip to Salts Diner, which we have often visited when in this area and it remains consistent. Menu hasn't changed much over the years but is varied suits different age groups and there are always specials on the board. What we like; efficient well managed young staff, bright, buzzing atmosphere, fresh, well cooked and presented food, which is reasonably priced. Can lounge with papers and a coffee or have full meal with nice puds. It is usually busy at weekends, and only open during day. Great for whole family. Can recommend.

We have visited here many times before, but not written a review. It was a lovely day today, so we went for a quick look round the brilliant 'homage to Paul Hockney' mill, before heading up to the second floor diner. (There is also an espresso bar on the fourth floor) The mill is a surprising place, full of delightful lilies, and a large bookshop. We passed into the restaurant , and were quickly showed to a table. All three of us had the rib-eye steak, with chips (home made), mushroom, stuffed tomato and lettuce, each cooked to a different degree. All were spot on, and very tasty. All the food on offer is nicely presented, and served by quite cheerful waitresses. It was an enjoyable family occasion, and I would recommend it as a destination for visitors to West Yorkshire.

Visited Salts Diner when at The Mill and had good and bad views.
Good - lovely cakes & milkshakes!
Bad - service a bit haphazard, very busy and loud, very over-expensive for a lunch time sized meal.

Sadly my last couple of experiences here are letting the side down. Menu needs more gluten free options and the basic menu is upteen years old and could do with refreshing.(I am aware there are daily specials). Staff aren't as attentive as they could be, although they are friendly on interaction, there's perhaps more attention to customer focus needed throughout. The setting is lovely and for that I will return, but please just a few small positive changes would go a very long way. Sadly as someone else mentioned the acoustics aren't good and the chairs not at all comfy for those of us with disabilities but if everything else was spot on it probably wouldn't be a issue I'd particularly comment on.
