This is the second time I have stayed at River Cottage and yet again Kath and Keith did not disappoint. Not only is the internal decoration superb - I have stayed in 2 different rooms, each decorated to a very high standard with lovely furnishings and fittings - but it is the genuine friendliness of Kath and Kim which is outstanding. They go the extra mile for their guests - for us it was pressing a suit and driving us to Skipton train station early one morning.
The breakfast set us up for the day, on offer is fruit salad to the best fry up in the Yorkshire Dales, my partner loved the local sausages, bacon and black pudding !!
All I can say to anyone who is reading this and thinking of staying at River Cottage is BOOK, you will not be disappointed on any level.

We would like to echo all the other reviews. Managed to book at short notice for the attic room. Although there is no shower or bath, the room is lovely and it does have a loo & wash basin, which was ok for 1 night and the price reflected this. The full English breakfast was plentiful (even the small portion) and tasty, along with cereals, fresh fruit salad, toast, yoghurts etc etc. The location is ideal at the centre of the village with the river running next to the property. Our family were staying at the Premier Inn just up the road, so we were all close together.

We were warmly welcomed in on a rainy September weekend. The room was lovely, with a huge shower in the ensuite bathroom. We were asked to fill in the breakfast menu (given between 7 and 9, although fairly flexible of this), so they knew what to cook freshly for us. Given plenty of advice for taxis etc (we didn't need much else as were going to a wedding at the nearby Newton Grange). All amenities were spot on, the shower in the morning was wonderfully powerful and the breakfast really delicious (all cooked to personal preferences). I thoroughly recommend this b&b, ideal for local wedding venues or just for seeing the beautiful countryside all around.

I spent just one night at this B&B, but wanted to write a review as I had such an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Gargrave itself is a lovely village set in the Yorkshire Dales. The B&B itself was a beautifully restored and decorated cottage, extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean, breakfast was very tasty, and the welcome and service offered by Keith was first class.

We have now stayed 4 times and will be staying many more times in the future. Beautiful setting by the river. Rooms spotlessly clean and decorated to a very high standard. You could not better the ensuite shower-so powerful would give you a massage! Kath and keith, the owners, provide a superb breakfast, you really do not want for anything else the rest of the day. Just as well there are lovely walks round the canal to walk it off. Kath and Keith are a lovely couple and extremely friendly and welcoming.
JUST THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY!

Lovely location in the middle of Gargrave with easy access to a great local curry house & local pub.
Rooms are fresh and airy with a view of the river, and a great shower.
Breakfast - home cooked and very nice.
Hosts - very welcoming.
If I'm in this part of the country again I'd stay here again.

. This was a girls weekend away where we usually go to large towns, we decided to do something different, From the start we where made to feel very welcome, shown to our rooms given keys to the from of house, told where to drink and eat. The rooms are spacious, clean and have fantastic veiws over the river. There is a breakfast menu to fill in every evening with a choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt, then a large or small cooked breakfast. All cooked fresh. There is plenty to do within walking distance, also more to explore if you have a car. The place to eat in Gargrave is Bollywood cottage very good food, also there is a local pub over the bridge which also serves food. There is a Co-operative store with a cash point. Skipton is a train ride away or 15 minutes by car, we tried Brodys Bistro and Pizzeria, very good service and very good food. For those who want a quiet weekend away this is the place to try.
