HOTEL
The hotel itself if not bad, much better than I was expecting. This is badged as a 4* superior - it is not, I would say this is more like a 3* but that being said I was pleasantly surprised by it.

We asked for a top floor pool view and we got one. This is a very Spanish hotel and the whole complex is geared towards that.

ROOM
The rooms as far as I can tell are all the same. There are 2 corridors of room off the central reception area with 6 floors on each corridor. Each floor has rooms facing the pool and rooms facing the road.

The rooms consisted of 2 very large (queen I think) beds pushed together the usual dressing table, bedside tables, fridge, wardrobe, safe and bathroom facilities. There is nothing special about these rooms. You literally get 6 coathangers! The bathroom is not huge but had a bath & shower, hairdryer and good pressure.

Each room has a safe and fridge but both are locked and you have to pay for both.

A/C - ????? yes it works but isn't great. The balcony doors have an automatic switch off so it stops when you open them. The room has a key card that has to be in the slot for electric to work and switches off when you remove it so A/C stops when you go out. They will only give you one key card so you can not leave one in the slot.

Reception was very good with friendly enough staff

Pool Area - this is what i liked about this hotel... YOU CAN NOT RESERVED SUNBEDS. There are plenty of sunbeds for everyone so you do not get the usual run out at 3am to get your towel down.,

Pool Bar - Open from 11am until about 6-7pm. Served all the usual drinks you wanted as well as crisps you could just help yourself to and a large bowl of fruit everyday. There was no specific food bar for during the day but if you asked they would make you a sandwich.

Indoor Bar - same as pool bar but indoors! But they had a small tapas bar where you get get a few small plates if you wanted.

SPA - It is a very basic gym, with an indoor pool and hot tub. They had a water jet bench and a few room where I believe they did treatments.

WIFI - WHAT WIFI!!! Useless had to continually re log in and only got a signal if you were in reception or your room.

FOOD - It was actually not bad. We were All Inclusive and went with the idea that we would go out every night anyway as we have had really bad AI's before. But although we do did go to local bars to eat quite a lot we did eat in the restaurant and it was good. Not the best cuisine but its an AI Hotel its not going to be.

BEACH - the beach is literally a 5-10 min walk away depending on how fast you walk.
Its a really nice beach with shallow waters, beach bars, toilets etc.

Bars & Restaurants - there are loads of nice bars/restaurants a couple of really nice restaurants that I would basically avoid like the plague. We went into the seafood restaurant and it was the worst meal we had all holiday.

We went into:
Tapas bar across from hotel REALLY NICE its right on the roundabout and is packed with spanish every night. Good food at really good prices.

Italian La Casa Nostra - just on the beach again really nice and cheap

Fish Restaurant Arrozaria DON'T BOTHER worst meal all holiday.

Irish Bar - The Waterfront - this was ok, nice food but not the best setting right on a busy thoroughfare with loads of bars and shops.

TRIPS - Plana Bus just down from the hotel do lots of excursions. The also hire bikes.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view or you will be looking out onto the oil tankers. But it might be quieter,.

Rude staff, unwilling to accommodate even basic requests, loud music from a 'childrens party' blaring into the morning. Disappointing food, average rooms. Overall horrible experience, avoid at all costs.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel

We know this hotel well now and decided on a 2 week stay. It was reassuring to see many of the same staff again, this shows some dedication on their behalf to the hotel and the management to their staff. The first thing we all noticed was that the quality of the food on offer has improved significantly. A lot more attention is on a more personal experience with individual deserts and salads on offer. Gone are the catering buckets of ketchup and salad cream, replaced with sachets and bowls of various sauces. All regularly refreshed. One of the best All-Inclusive experiences.
Service as ever is excellent, the staff all very friendly and helpful.

Note that this hotel is not really aligned with the major UK travel agents (Aside from Jet2) and it's clientele are predominantly Spanish with a number of French guests. Whilst all the staff can manage some English, if you can or are willing to try and speak Spanish it does help.
Top marks again to the entertainment team and waiting staff for their patience and interaction with the younger members of the family, ours very much enjoyed the mini-club activities each day and the evening mini-disco.

Cleanliness remains good, rooms turned out daily and the entire hotel cleaned regularly. The poolside toilets can on occasion get a little untidy, but are checked and cleaned regularly. The pool area is tidied on a regular basis during the day and the amount of sun loungers remains high with good availability all day. The lifeguard has a watching brief on the reservation of sun-loungers and if people are seen to be abusing the system by leaving towels out all day whilst going shopping/beach will find them being removed. Some of the parasols are getting a little tired but still functional for good shade in most areas should it be required.

La Pineda itself is little changed, still easy to navigate the main road and if you do want to get to Salou/Port Aventura the Plana Bus is on the doorstep. If you are intending to travel frequently on the bus or have a family, you will save a lot of money if you purchase a 10 trip card from any Plana Bus office. Don't bin it at the end of your holiday as you can top it up and if you return to the area use it again the next time.

Our thanks to Ramon and the entire hotel staff, a great holiday and as discussed we hope to see you all again next year!

Room Tip: Rooms on the other side away from the pool will be more quiet, but even so with the patio door shut, there is little noise in the rooms.

We stayed here in Mid may as our first family holiday away with our boys. As it was just before peek season it was quiet and not too bust during our week stay. The staff were amazing we were forever forgetting and leaving behind dummys and dribblers from our baby and the next day a member of staff would cal us over and hand over whatever we forgot. The kids club was great and our son Corey loved joining in all the fun activities and the kiddies disco in the evenings. We went all inclusive and we enjoyed the array of food. (a few baby options would have been nice but we made do). the pool area was lovely and well maintained and the little play area at the back was nice too. the location is great just a short walk to the beaches and hussle and bustle of la panida town i loves that it was on the edge of the town as there was little to no footfall and no noise at all. the room was spacious with 2 big double beds a spacious bathroom and lots of storage. the air conditioning was brilliant and made sleeping so easy and comfortable

Arrived at the hotel on 16th August and stayed for a week all inclusive with my husband and two kids aged 6 and 3. We had a brilliant time and I would definitely go back. I will sum up the positives & negatives (not that there are many so I am being picky here!)
Positives:
1. Always lots of sun loungers - never have I been to a hotel in august where you can come down to the pool and get a lounger at any time of day.
2. Pool is a fab temperature- not too cold for chickens like me!
3. Food is great - lots of variety (some exciting stuff like octopus) and plenty for kids e.g. Fish fingers, hot dogs, nuggets etc and the puds are amazing. Usually Spanish desserts I'm not fond of but chocolate fountains, tiramisu, rice pudding etc are so yummy. Breakfast is good as well.
4. All inclusive package is good. Snacks not the usual ice cream but pastries, pinchos, biscuits, crisps etc
6. Very clean
7. Stuff for kids- kids pool, playground, mini club and the staff speak English, arcade machines (these are a Euro a go though)
8. Nice rooms with balconies and spacious bathroom
9. Very comfy mattresses
10. Good air con in rooms
11. 5 mins walk from beach - the reviews who said 20 mins either got lost or walk very, very slowly.
12. Amazing location if you want to visit portaventura
13. Only 15 mins from reus airport
14. Bus stop outside hotel
15. Lifeguard on duty all day. Very keen and strict with rules but made me feel safe with having young kids
16. Will do you picnics if you are off out for the day or up early for airport. Ours had enough food in it to feed a small army.
17. Good basket of toiletries in bathroom.
18. Offer free wifi but not sure how good it is as I just used my own data.
19. Good daytime activities available.
20. Safe available- not sure of cost
21. Minibar in room but it was locked and was an additional cost.
Negatives:
1. They have those horrible, long sausage pillows on the beds. Hate sharing my pillow!
2. Funny drain smell on occasion by the pool.
3. All inclusive only runs from 10am to 11.45pm
4. No inflatables or balls in pool (I actually think this is a positive)
5. For me this was not a negative but I know some people like home from home and this hotel is very Spanish. Staff can speak some English but for some it's not great. Very few English guests mainly Spanish or French.
6. Entertainment not the best and only starts really late 9.15 for kids disco and 10.30 for adult stuff.
7. Some of the towels were very thin and well worn.
8. No English TV channels but good 4G signal.
