We travelled to the Talayot apartments on the 11th June for one week, my husband, 15 and 11 year old daughters. It was a last minute deal and I am glad I didn't pay too much for this holiday. Not due to the aparetments but due to the resort itself. Very dull and tired, not much to do if you have children over the age of 6 or 7. Great for families with small children as bouncy castles in nearly every restaurant. The square was great for some live entertainment but lack of restaurants and entertainment bars in general was a real disappointment.

Negative points over - the apartments itself were fantastic. We had a 2 bedroom apartment block A 5 - with views over the main pool and one of the splash pools. Apartments were clean and lovely and bright. Great balcony and we really had no problems with the room. No rush for beds in the morning but don't know what this would be like in July/August. Lovely atmosphere to the apartments and the reps were fantastic with the kids. Our 11 year old had a fantastic time doing different activities every day. Never seen her much had to always go looking to see where she was! Not much for 15 year old but once we got her the Wifi she was happy enough to lie by the pool and sunbathe. Had to pay for the Wifi for the week and you had to buy it for every device - my daughter thought she could log in on her ipad and phone at different times but she had to pay for another voucher. Thought this was a bit unfair as my younger daughter wanted wifi as well so we ended up paying again. Pool bar and snack bar were sufficient enough for lunch and we ate in the hotel restaurant few times and it was lovely no real complaints.

Dont think I could have spent 2 weeks here just because of the resort think we would of struggled finding different places to eat every night and I hate going to the same place over and over again. We did miss a beach front but thats our own personal choice. The coves were lovely - went a day 'jumping' at Cala Brut great for older teenagers but take all with you because there aren't any shops around this and nowhere to buy a bottle of water! Pirates Cove Beach lovely not overcrowded.

Overall a brilliant holiday and would go back if the price was right! If you have a young family this is definitely a brilliant complex for them!

Room Tip: Block A if you want a view overlooking the spash pool and main pool.

We've just returned from the Talayot and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Greeted by the reps were transferred to the Talayot and had a speedy check in albeit there were only two families arriving from our transfer. We were given room T15 and were told to wait for directions, we were taken across the main complex and over a road into a smaller complex with two pools (kids and adults (deep)), feeling a bit like poor relations! Whilst the apartments are basic and could do with a bit of modernising they have usual facilities, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer and towels are provided. They were cleaned every day with clean towels provided with a change of linen after 7 days. The aged ceiling fans were neither use nor ornament but we managed fine even with a heatwave (35 deg). The first few days were spent around the main complex (splash area) with our 5 yr old until the novelty wore off and this is when the T Block showed its worth - away from the noise in your own little area getting the opportunity to meet your neighbours around the pool with a few stragglers from the main complex seeking some peace. Our 5 year old didn't participate in the kids club which seemed popular but made plenty of like minded friends.

In terms of location, 10 minutes slow walk slightly downhill to cala'n blanes beach and on the edge of the strip. The resort itself is showing signs of the recession and all inclusive obviously has its affect on the area with a number of empty premises, that said what was there was fantastic for families - a number of pubs offering bouncy castles/trampolines/go karts free of charge if you are buying drinks which aren't over priced! A lot of the restaurants serve similar food and also have play areas (often hidden at back) - we loved Cuore and Frankies but all comes down to personal preference.

Beaches - cala'n blanes is the larger beach but still small but excellent for families, we often took bread to feed to the fish off the cove. We also went to another beach which is located just off the main strip just past the water park which was beautiful, great for exploring, scenery and snorkelling.

We will definitely return to Menorca and probably to the Talayot if we decide on the same area. If I was going to give any tips they would be, hire your beach towels from reception (5e per stay and changed when you want for a clean one) and wait a few days to buy your kids inflatables as the families going home often off load.

This is our third holiday from the Thomson handpicked - already looking for the next destination....

Room Tip: If you want somewhere quieter T Block - T15 gets the afternoon and evening sun.

Just returned from our second trip to Talayot, with two little kids (6) and two big kids (almost 40!). What can I say? We had an amazing time, made even better by the lovely Jem Jem and Ro Ro, and the kids club ladies.
The accommodation is spacious enough, we had a two bedroom ground floor apartment in A block which was ideal for us being next to the splash pool. The beds were made every day and the maids were really friendly.
Little shop over the road sells everything you will need, little bit dearer but worth it for the convenience.
Entertainment wise there was something different every day, kids loved the Disney show and the bubble man. Watching their little faces was magical. We only ventured out of Talayot as there were so many good kids play areas down the main strip. Favourite being the whale bouncy castle with the opening mouth that swallowed them!
Best food outside of complex is definitely Es Replec. Had some lovely dishes here, best hope of a Menorcan meal without chips and they were very welcoming.
Best beach to walk to is the pirates cove. About ten mins away. Nice beach bar, huge palm trees, showers, toilets and if your feeling energetic you can walk part of the Cami de Cavalls path.
Overall had the best ten days, would return again tomorrow and have started saving for next year! Just one thing, if Talayot the Bear could make a few more appearances, that would be fab. the first time we went he came out at the snack bar every day at 3pm and the kids loved it. We only saw him once this year Mucho graciasTalayot! xxx

Well where do I start, our holiday was amazing! From being greeted by Martin at the airport when we first arrived to the easy check in. We were in block R9 which is across the road with a small separate pool which was fabulous as we had a young baby who needed frequent naps! The entertainment staff Jemma & Romy were awesome, couldn't do enough for anyone and our girls really took a shine too them. The mini disco and party games were great for our children :)
The kids club reps were great too and our girls loved going especially too the chocolate party for €5 was well worth it as they were covered. Rooms cleaned, towels changed, beds made everyday by the great maids!
Also worth attending the BBQ night for €11 for adults and €5 for children it's well worth it as you get a drink included too. I literally cannot fault the holiday or the staff/reps we had it was amazing!

Room Tip: Quieter over in block R with it's own little pool x

We stayed for one week 28/05-04/06 in block R, We thought the best location, over the road from the complex and spar on the door step, It felt like we had a private villa very quite and the pool had plenty sun beds. The main strip was 2 mins walking distance. we were a little disappointed with the resort quite a few restaurants and shops closed down but it didn't matter there was still plenty of choice to eat .
first night Frankies grilled pork beautiful great big measures of bailey only 4 euros!!! hense everynight we returned to finish off a few cheeky drinks I most comment on the dreadful karoke but the prices were so good and the guys work so hard and always smile they really lifted the place. Los delfines was abeautiful meal chicken kebab, they had a 10 euro set menu which was amazing. Haiti was a very nice meal chicken and mushroom sauce, and garlic mushrooms lush.
by far the best meal was a steak in Es Replec with the menorcan potatoes absolutely beautiful however the staff quite unfriendly weather we caught them on a bad night I don't know! but stunning food and good price. Water park restaurant was our last meal and fab meal great service, great food and drink, I must say the little electric motorbikes just outside the water park were 1 euro a go and our kids loved them well worth the money. the crepe place over the road were amazing try the toffee one lush.
I must say this was an amazing holiday we ate out every night and didn't have one bad meal, very reasonable prices and drinks so cheap 4 euros a litre of san Miguel 2 euro a pint.
the apartment were well equipped a little dated but for the amount of time your in there beds very comfy. pool side very clean we tried the other pools in the complex but honestly we enjoyed our own pool the best no crowds. Our towels were changed 6 out of 7 days, beds made 6 out of 7 again. the transfer was long an hour and 15 so be preperred!!. we got the cars out from the guy two doors down from the Haiti restaurant 3 days for the price of two 60 euros and free kids seats.
we took a trip to a Mahon on the sunday its beautiful but most of the shops were shut so we went on the glass bottom boat good time had and plenty of fish to see. stopped at Citatella worth a visit but not much there the market was very poor but pretty town. Cala en Bosch beautiful but keep off the sunbeds 17 euros for two beds and a brolly worth it if your there for the day but not if your not staying long, beautiful beach and not far from the centre worth a visit. We saw a lot of wonderful site but cant remember the names roads aren't bad to drive.

Anyhow the resort has plenty of choice for food and drink great to entertain the kids and have a relaxing drink really fun for families 9/10 for the whole holiday only let down was the resort and the few tatty closed bars its a same because you can tell it has been a thriving town.

Room Tip: block r there is only 7 apartments

Would definitely stay again, the complex is nice and well equipped. The lots of pools is brilliant. The pool bar is reasonably priced.

The on site supermarket was very well equipped and was more expensive than the big super markets but not excessive, you pay for the convenience. We mainly used the Diskont hypermercat in Ciutedella, I would recommend doing the same for the main shop.

Bad points - resort is quiet tired, we had a car for the whole week which I feel was a necessity as we could easily visit different parts of the island every day.

We were put in S Block first, we asked to be moved apartments because the shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold and changed itself, when reported to reception they were aware of the issue and it affects the whole block. We were moved to R Block which was across the road after two nights and it was great over there. Avoid S Block, asked to be moved when you check in if assigned S Block.
