We are a couple and stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago. The strong points in my opinion are the distance to the Cala Galdana beach which is 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel, the food had lots of different dishes to choose from and the level of service at the lobby was very good.
They spent a lot of time talking to us and recommending which beaches to visit and things to do.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor have a nice terrace with sunbeds but practically no view as it has a roof in...

We have just returned for the Cala Galdana Hotel. This was our second year running at this hotel with 4 teenage children. We loved it. The food was even better than last year. There is plenty of choice and spotlessly clean everywhere and all the waiters are very attentive. The reception staff are wonderful in particular Marga. The restaurant staff and waiters are also very approachable and were always working with a smile. We had lovely pool and sea views which were great for watching the entertainment on the balcony. The pool is beautiful and friends of ours popped over for the day and said it was the cleanest pool they had ever seen on the island. A fab holiday had by all.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

We stayed here the second week of my. Myself, husband and another couple. We paid extra to have a partial sea view room and are glad we did as the rooms at the back didn't look like they had much of a view. The balcony is tiny but the view was wonderful.
We hired a car for the week from alfacars. Menorca is such a beautiful place and driving is so easy as everything is off one main road. As it was May we had a couple of days where the weather wasn't too great so it was a perfect time to get out in the car and explore the island.
Cala Galdana beach is truly stunning. We hired kayaks for four hours and explored caves and kayaked to Macarella and Macaretta both stunning too with the former having a nice little restaurant to grab a bite to eat from. Another day we walked to Cala Mitjana which was also beautiful but take drinks and snacks with you as nowhere to buy from there ( that we saw).
Our room at the hotel was perfectly fine. Bed comfortable. Small fridge. Modern furnishings. Bathroom a little tired. Food was good, but why have fresh pineapple at dinner then tinned at breakfast?
Entertainment wasn't bad. There was an Abba tribute one night who were excellent. We also went over to the Sol Gavilanes ( amazing views from the bar) a couple of evenings and they had a fab mowtown act on one night.
We didn't have any problems getting sunbeds, maybe due to quiet season, but can understand this maybe being a problem at the height of summer. But the beach is so beautiful it more than makes up for it. I wouldn't bother hiring sunbeds on beach as they are expensive, just buy a couple of beach mats and a parasol.
I would definitely stay here again. The resort is beautiful as is menorca.

Just got back from 10 days at this hotel and it was nowhere near the same standard as two platinum standard hotels we have stayed in over the past two years. Reception was o.k. but not overly welcoming & there were no bell boys to assist with luggage.
In the dining room the food selection was just about adequate. My main complaint here is that the waiting staff were a bit too keen to remove empty plates.
Don't be put off leaving a towel on a sunbed because even though the hotel say they will remove any towels from unoccupied sunbeds it just does not happen.
Finally the balconies are far too small & look unsafe.

Room Tip: The best rooms face the pool of course. We were on the end of the building and could just see the se...

We have returned from a week at this hotel yesterday and what a fantastic time. I am always very honest in reviews as use this site before booking anywhere, but can say everything I have to say is positive. I will start with the only negative which happens everywhere-sunbeds. Yes there aren't enough beds for the whole hotel and you do get told not to reserve but follow this and you won't get one. There are however loads of chairs still. The pool opens at 9 and although people start queuing at 8.30 I went down when it opened and always managed to find one. Do put some of your own possessions on too though as well as towels as there are those who remove your hotel towels-if your items are on too they won't touch them. Having said that the beach is fantastic too so head down there is no beds available. Beds/umbrellas on the beach are expensive to hire but if you ask behind the desk or at the Thomson desk they had umbrellas/mats we could borrow. Onto Thomson reps, these were the most helpful reps we have ever met. We were reluctant to attend the welcome meeting due to the dreaded heavy sales pitching usually experienced but Jessie was a refreshing change. She talked about the island and what was available including the hotel and then said trip information was available in the file she had-we didn't even rush to get out at the end!!! Chris was also helpful later booking a car for us to hire-go through them as they are the most competitive price wise and so easy to arrange.
Rooms were not huge but were very clean and cleaned daily. Usual facilities but all of hotel spotlessly clean-big compliment from me as I am the most fussy person ever when it comes to cleaning!! One piece of advice, if you want a quiet room before 11pm at night avoid all rooms to the far left of the hotel (next to the stage). Nighty entertainment meant music until 11pm which we found lovely as we could lay in bed and listen but if you have children may be an issue (however out 8 year old never had a problem as was too exhausted!) Good evening entertainment. Usual day activities including a activities club for younger. My 8 year old loved going and doing art activities and we got a peaceful couple of hours. It wasn't one though you could go offsite as they were allowed to come and go but we were only round the pool so he was quite safe to go there. Pool was lovely and clean and plenty of families/children to entertain your young ones.
The resort is in a bay which is beautiful. It is quiet as is all the island. Few bars, shops and restaurants to browse in though each night. Avoid El Mirador-looks idyllic but food poor and service appalling-didnt speak only grunted at us!! Tobagan is very good an very central to resort. Includes crazy golf course and child play area so spent many a night having delicious coffee there. Beware you take mosquito spray though as one evening we got eaten alive.
We were half board in hotel. Food was the best I have ever seen in a hotel buffet. Something for everyone. You could change the evening meal for lunch as long as you let the hotel know the evening before. There was something for everyone at every meal. Hot, cold etc including 5 different types of bread! There was at least 3 different cooked fish each night, salads, not dishes etc etc. Deserts always a little hit and miss but theres were beautiful. Three speciality meals a week. We ate fantastically including a fussy 8 year old. Look out for the older waiter Vasquez-hes lovely and looked after us throughout our holiday.
All in all a fantastic week and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. Would recommend to anyone and can't say that for all the hotels i have stopped at. Thank you Cala Galdana and see you again soon!

We have never been to Menorca before, we are a family of 6. Had originally booked somewhere else but Cosmos had overbooked our rooms so moved us here. We were in Villa No 5. Ground level so that's good. The porter insisted he carry our 5 suitcases up the 10 stairs to our door. The villa is fine, very very clean and proper beds for all of us, no pull out beds. Food is wonderful. This is our first half board (usually self catering). Something for all of us. Beautiful fresh salads and fruit, meat, fish, cheeses, breads everything you could ask for. You do need to get up early to get a sunbed but there are plenty of tables and chairs. Lovely beach across the road and it's €20 to hire 2 sunbeds and a brolly. You need the brolly! Beach and resort seem full of Spanish people but everyone is so nice. All the staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. Night entertainment is ok although kids a bit bored as aimed at adults. All in all, very nice time here.
