We had 7 nights at El Pinar, staying in room 226. This room had a sea room and looked to be one of the bigger rooms as it was on a corner - we had a twin bedded room with a small balcony, a decent sized clean bathroom and a good size lounge area with a sofa bed (quite comfortable) and a small kitchen area. The main balcony was sizable with a table, two chairs and a drying rack. The kitchen area was adequate to prepare lunches etc but not really for cooking - fridge, 2 rings, toaster, microwave.

The hotel itself was clean and airy. It seemed to attract large family groups who were a bit noisy at times round the pool (I hate people playing their own music in public areas!) and we did have one incidence of being woken at 2am by drunken revellers in the bar (directly below our windows but overall it was quiet and ideal for families.

The beach is literally a few steps away from the hotel - there is plenty of room even on busy days. Lifeguards are on duty from late morning, there are pedaloes to hire and toilets and refreshments close by. Although hawkers do approach, they were not frequent or persistent.

The weather was variable when we went - one day was cloudy all day, another day we had a torrential downpour and one day was so windy that the sea was incredibly rough. When the sun was out, the temperature was in the high twenties.

There were dangers in the sea though - my children were stung by jellyfish and my husband was unfortunate enough to stand on a sea urchin and have to seek medical help so I would recommended water shoes. One afternoon there were loads of large brown jellyfish coming into the bay - we didn't swim! On a calm day we snorkelled near the ferry jetty - there are loads of fish there, especially when you throw bread in the water!

We ate in the hotel twice for convenience and had adequate but not outstanding food.

We had a taxi from the airport which cost 30 Euros each way.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a fly and flop holiday with children.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are shady for most of the day and overlook the bar - the entertainment goes on until late 3 nights a week so not good if you have noise sensitive young children to get to sleep.

My family and I stayed at the El Pinar aparthotel for 10 days at the end of July 2013. Nice hotel, good standard of room in size and cleanliness, towels and room cleaned daily, kitchen facilities, air-conditioning and fan, balcony over-looking pool. I would say the food was of a decent standard not cordon bleu but edible, only problem few flies knocking about near food serving table. Staff some really pleasant some not as pleasant. Entertainment ok, singers, magician/drag act but only 3 times a week, parrot show one day though which my son and I really enjoyed.Great location hop away from Cala Llonga's beautiful beach and clear, shallow water ideal for small children as shallow for a good distance and no stronmg currents. Overall really relaxed holidayand nice location if a bit quiet. Guess the test is would you stay here again and my family and I would!!!!!

We had a fantastic 10 day holiday at El Pinar. We were self catering but the food for all inclusive looked good. The staff are very friendly especially Vincent always very polite. We are trying to go back there next year. We had a studio for three but was very spacious and quite, these were just across the road from main reception.

Room Tip: Studios quite. Meet people who stayed in main block who said it was noisy.

Very quiet, was the beginning of the season.

The are 2 sides to this hotel. The main block which is in the Thomas cook website is better than the highrise appts on the opposite side of the road. The balconies in the high rise are tiny and do not get much sun depending where you are placed.

It is a very quiet resort, not much happening at night. The beach is actually a cove and was covered in seaweed but they were trying to rectify this issue whilst i was there.

Pool was absolutely freezing but it was the beginning of May.

Restaurants really lovely, not a bad meal. Can work out expensive if you go self catering, prices basically same as here. 3 euro a pint. Main meal about 10 euro. Food in hotel is actually good.

Family friendly or older persons resort.

This is a basic hotel but was comfortable and quiet.

Room Tip: Need to be in main hotel, not highrise block

Weeks holiday: three adults and a child

Location 5/5
Right on beach, but the hotel doesn’t have any beach beds so you have to hire them at 5 Euros each a day which for a family of four is expensive. Beach nice, safe bathing for kids and life guards on duty during day, also available pedalos 15 Euros an hour and motor boat hire 25 Euros per half hour, again expensive. Both bus and boat services nearby. Internet access non existent, although hotel advertise it was available (I believe) which irritated a lot of guests. Reception on TV in rooms also poor.

Cleanliness 5/5
Apartments very clean, good size and rooms/beds were fine. Best rooms at front of hotel overlooking beach. Hotel split into two blocks, views from our room in rear block non existent. Rooms in rear block do not have a balcony, but some of those overlooking the beach did.

Entertainment 3/5
Only on 3 nights a week, best by far ‘Albert’s One Man Show’. Otherwise, take some cards with you or be prepared to pump your money into the usual mix of pool tables and slot machines to keep kids occupied, or look at football on TV which seemed to be on all the time wherever you went in the resort. Quite a few beach bars and restaurants close by in resort itself if you want a change.

Service 4/5
All inclusive from 11 am to 11 pm, all staff polite and efficient, but no real characters.

Food 2.5/5
All inclusive food choice very limited and often hit and miss, wish they put on dishes what was actually available, for some dishes you had to guess. They did offer a wider menu if you wanted to pay. Coffee available all day, but inferior to coffee behind bar which was 1.5 Euros a cup.

Pool 1/5
Pool small and toddler pool about the size of a really big bath, I suppose they think most people will head off to the beach. Pool side beds seemed to be available most days. But not impressed.

Room Tip: Get a room at front of hotel overlooking the beach.
