We enjoyed our stay at El Pinar, the rooms and public areas were very clean and the staff were helpful. The food was nice - we self catered but did eat in the bar once. We had breakfast on the house on day 3 as an apology about the room problem described below. The food was fine.

I did not rate the hotel higher as we had a problem with our room upon arrival. We paid extra for a large studio with a sea view.. However the room we were given after a 2 hour wait was a side room with a view of the delivery area and a poor view of the sea if you leaned over the balcony. We complained and asked to be moved, we were told we could move the next day. When the next day came the manager told the man on reception that we had a sea view and could not move. I stood my ground and we were moved later that day. Had we not paid extra then I would have accepted any room, the hotel and manager are over selling sea view rooms. This needs to stop.

All in all we had a lovely holiday and would return provided that Jet2 and the manager guaranteed the room given was the type that was booked.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from Cala Llonga. El Pinar is in the most perfect location for the beach but it does involve a bit of a hill and a couple of steep steps. The service throughout was very good, the food was well priced and very good. We had a bit of a noisy neighbour above - but apart from that it was a wonderful stay.

Loved the relaxed friendly atmosphere at this hotel.
Everything was very clean and the location perfect.
Really liked the way little children were given their turn at the bar
and not ignored as is often the case.
The food was a bit repetitive but always something to enjoy.
23 adults and children all loved their holiday so says it all.

Room Tip: If you want a big balcony choose the main building

My wife, daughter (10) & I spent 11 nights here, returning last Thursday.

Location: 10/10. In Cala Llonga Bay, right next to the beach. From the hotel's bar/restaurant patio, it's literally half a dozen steps to the beach (5 euros parasols/sunbeds). The sea was warm, shallow & inviting.
The small town has half a dozen bars & restaurants. El Deseo was very nice (Spanish/Mexican).
Buses to other towns are hourly (or thereabouts) and cost a couple of quid each way.

Room: 8/10. We were in B4, which is in the building across the road, from the main hotel. Don't worry, it's a very quiet road & the reception/pool/restaurant is just a few steps away. Our apartment was on the ground floor & is the only one in this block that has a full balcony. The others have a 'French Balcony', which means that you won't be able to sit on it. A lovely bathroom with an excellent spacious shower (no bath tub) & twin basins. The air-con was very effective and made the nights sleep comfortable. The room was cleaned every day.
Top Tip: If you wan't to come back to a cool room, wait until it has been cleaned and the insert your key card & crank up the air-con. If you do this before cleaning, the maids will remove your card. Any hotel key card will work.

All Inclusive: 7/10. If you like dining out every night, when on holiday, 3 star AI is not for you.
My expectation is 'good staff canteen' & I wasn't disappointed! You eat your meal & then you go out!
Breakfast consisted of bacon, eggs, omelettes, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans etc. & a continental selection, including cheese and cold meats. Juice & Coffee from a machine (5/10) Their fried bread (baguette slices) is lovely.
Lunch & Dinner were fairly similar. Plenty of poached/fried fish, regular beef/pork dishes and occasional traditional dishes (casseroles, Calamari, croquettes etc.) A selection of 'international' dishes as well; Spag' Bol', Pizza, Pasta, Burgers & Chips/Fries.
Not great for vegetarians I'm afraid. My wife is a veggie & struggled. Top Tip: Their freshly cooked pizzas (as well as toasted sandwiches, burgers & fries) are very good & can be ordered during lunch, dinner & afternoon 'Snack Time' (3pm - 7pm). Other veggie dished can also be ordered (Lasagne was the only other one we had). One gripe I had was that the dishes on the buffet were never labelled. This was fine for the obvious things, but not if you don't eat meat, fish or pork, for example. I fed this back to the hotel.
Good for kids, as there was always chips/nuggets/pizza/chicken etc.
Always a good, fresh salad selection.
I found the food a little unimaginative and repetitive, but expected this, to be honest, as it's a small hotel and the group of AI guests wasn't large. The benefit of this was that there was never a queue and always somewhere nice to sit & the dishes were replenished regularly.

Drinks. 8/10. A good selection of 'local' spirits & Estrella beer on draught (1/2 pints).
Most of the popular, non-Spanish drinks were cheaper alternatives, such a Tia Maria, Cointreau, Baileys, etc. As the El Pinar is a restaurant/bar as well, other drinks can be purchased (e.g. 3.30 Euros for a pint). The bar staff weren't too restrictive with the number of drinks, I often ordered 2 or 3 without any problems.

Entertainment: 3 times a week - Monday/Wednesday/Friday. We saw 'Dave Vincent' - Elvis Tribute, A Spanish band & Albert & his 'One Man Show'. All very 'entertaining' ;).

The Pool: It was towels on sunbeds at dawn, for our first week, after that, it was very quiet, with more availability. We did 'reserve' ours before breakfast, as we spent most days by the pool.
The issue seemed to be the people who put their towels on them & disappeared for the rest of the day. I did remove one or two! A medium sized pool, kept clean & well maintained. A lifeguard on duty most of the day. Inflatables (Lilo & bigger) are not allowed in the pool (it's a new Health & Safety thing). Nice, robust, comfortable sunbeds. AI drinks in plastic glasses are OK.

Transfer: We got a taxi, outside the airport, waited about 5 mins. 30 Euros each way.

In summary, the El Pinar is a very well run hotel, in a lovely location. If you want kids clubs and fancy food, go elsewhere. If you want a relaxing break, with lovely views in a very efficiently run hotel, then the El Pinar is perfect. We plan to return.

Room Tip: I wouldn't have wanted a ground floor room next to the pool, as it could be a little noisy durin...

This was a second visit for my partner and I on an all inclusive basis. The hotel is spotless, in a fantasic location beside a beautiful beach in a gorgeous peaceful resort. We had booked a studio apartment, but on check in were thrilled to be told we had been upgraded to a one bed apartment with seaview. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and all inclusive drinks but chose to eat out most evenings as there wasn't a huge choice and we like to try local restaurants whilst on holiday. The hotel was fantastic value for the price we paid and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Seaviews are stunning

Great location, room with a sea view. However, the rooms do need to be updated as there was mould on the bottom of the curtains, the drawers and wardrobe smelt fusty so was reluctant to put my clothes in them and the bathroom showing some mould and cracks. The maid came every day which was great, although they DO NOT wash up for you so be aware, a fresh cleaning cloth provided would be helpful as not the usual thing I pack on holiday. Can't say it was spotless but clean enough. The kitchen area is enough to boil/fry egg, make tea, heat something in the microwave but that's about all, saying that someone did cook fish as it stank for days in our apartment, a toaster would have come in handy. The staff were very polite and helpful. The balcony was tiny but I did over hear some will be updated and extended ready for next year. Didn't use the pool as by 9.30 most days they were all taken up with towels not people despite the signs.
On the whole an ok place to stay.

Thank you very much for your opinion.

This year all rooms in top bulding are renovated, in the rooms facing the road there are 5 rooms with terrance and the another rooms have panoramic window, the rooms facing the forest, there are two with tereance and the another ones have french balcony.

The rooms have a kitchennete (cooker with two rings, little fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and, of course, cutlery, dishes, cups, saucepans...) for basic meals.

Always this year there is a new terrace in the swmming pool area with more sunbeds, but we try to avoid that they were reserved
