“Good overnight stop”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

My wife and I stayed overnight here and enjoyed our stay. The checkin checkout process was very efficient and all staff members were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the double comfort rooms and whilst it was basic it was clean and well maintained. This was our first stay in a Chateau and we enjoyed the atmoshere and decor. The restaurant and bar areas have a distinction of elegance and this was supported by fine wine and very well presented meals. We had the fois gras for stater (served with fruit bread and fig)and the duck for main (served with roasted peaches and pumpkin mash). I had the local selection of cheeses for desert. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Continental breakfast in the main dining hall was well staffed and provided a good variety.

I stayed at the Chateau de la Fleunie for one night in July whilst on a driving holiday through France with my husband and 7 year-old son.

I had really high hopes for the Chateau, but came away feeling disappointed. The hotel was beautiful, and I had booked one of the tower rooms so this was also very beautiful - nicely decorated and in-keeping. The thing that let this hotel down was the service, it wasn't bad just not as good as you would expect considering the price we were paying to stay here.

For example we were very hot on arrival after a long drive, we asked where we could obtain a drink and were showed a pleasant seating area outside. After unpacking we went to this area and sat down, however after 15-20 minutes no-one had come to take our drinks order so we had to go and search for someone ourselves.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening, and that was also disappointing. The quality of the food was OK (nothing spectacular but OK), but again it was the service that left us disappointed.

Overall I left the hotel feeling disappointed, and whilst the chateau was lovely we wont be returning here.

We stayed in the Tower of the Castle and it was wonderful. Clean, large and very comfortable. Agree that the plastic glasses in the bathroom is a little odd for such an establishment, but they happliy sent up a wine bucket and galsses atour request. Ate there twice in 3 days and it was FABULOUS!! Staff are great and the epool is wonderful

Room Tip: Request a room in the actual castle - the tower rooms are woonderful.

I went there perhaps three times all in all because they had at that time a pastry chef that justified the detour..honestly never had such a wonderful carrot cake ever since...
Moreover, it was an especially good deal at that time as i was on the road all day long trying to convince f&b managers of the quality of the products distributed at that time (and still nowadays...).
If it has not changed since then, book room number 5 (its the one in the dungeon..) !

I never however had the chance to try the pool as it was at that time not clean and same apply for the tennis court..

I recently stayed at this beautiful chateau hotel while preparing for Spyns 2012 Tour de France package tours. We've booked a block of rooms next July for a Dordogne to Paris trip. I was thrilled with our choice. Driving up to the chateau was one of life's 'pinch me' moments. Located a few miles from the nearest village, the castle is truly stunning with its white facade, grand turrets, and beautiful grounds. The November weather was cold and foggy so the warm greeting and cozy room were welcome after a long day's drive. Starting with the positives, check in was fast, friendly and efficient. The chateau was very authentic (lots of wood, high ceilings, tapestries) and yet impeccably clean. I had a standard double room - in fact I think it was the farthest from the entranceway. The room was small but comfortable. The bed was clean, well-heated (it was a cold, grey November night), and nicely furnished. I opted for room service and the fish, salad, and cheeses were all excellent and served in less than 30 mins. I had a great breafkast the next day. It was continental but with a good selection of pastries, cereals, yougurts and fruit. I look forward to coming back for the 2012 Tour de France to enjoy the swimming pool and grounds. Some of the minor drawbacks were location (a bit far from the village so somewhat isolated) and my room had a few more cobwebs than expected. Other than these minor issues, I'm thrilled Spyns will be staying here for our 2012 Tour de France trip packages.

My husband had booked a suite on the first floor and the main bedroom was wonderfully large. The children shared a large room just off the main room and loved staying in this magnificent home. The bathroom was enormous with a large luxurious bath tub. Don't pour in too much of the beautiful bubble bath they supply otherwise you will flood the bathroom like we dd.
It was a beautiful property. The staff were very gracious and recommended an early dinner booking which we accepted. The dinner at the restaurant was magnificent . We would highly recommend it. A similar meal in one of the best Australian restaurants would cost 5 times what it cost us.

Room Tip: Our 2 children aged 7 & 9 shared a room and it was fabulous.

Totally surpassed our expectations, and very reasonably priced. We did not take any meals there, as there were many other choices just a short drive away. The Chateau itself is STUNNING, like something from a dream. Our room was spacious, in particular the bathroom, and there was free wireless, a magnificent pool, and... a whole field of adorable animals! The downside is that there is almost zero to do AT the chateau itself, but that's not an issue, since the town is nearby. Only stayed a night, but wish it were longer.
