“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

Loved this place. Our table was outside on the roof, with great views of mardin at night, and the food was amazing. The "meze" platter was from heaven. Staff was very nice and friendly and provided great service. Highly recommanded

“Overpriced and very average”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 December 2013

We went to this restaurant because it was recommend by Lonely Planet. It was a big mistake. This restaurant does not cater to tourists at all.
- No English menu. There is only a Turkish menu with very poor pictures to illustrate the food.
- Staff speaks next to no English.
So basically, ordering food becomes an interesting guessing game.
We were not so lucky with our choices.
- Meze Platter - 17 TL - Good. I would say just make a meal out of this and you would be happy.
- Rice and Lamb - 25 TL - Meat was salty. The rice is mixed with lentils.
- Syrian Style meatballs (Kitel Raha) - 25 TL - This was a meat pancake with some yogurt sauce ! Not a meatball.

And the waiting staff at the end thought it would be funny if they ask us to drink the rose water used for washing the hands. That was really weird ! Maybe it is some kind of a local joke. Who knows ?

In conclusion, over priced for some average food. Your mileage may way based upon your command of the Turkish.

“100 TL for appetizer, 2 meals and 2 alcoholic drinks.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

– Allowed smoking indoors
– Not kid friendly
– crowded on a Friday night, so get there before the dinner seating to get the better service
– Waiter spoke Arabic and Turkish, but the manager spoke English well and he helped us. All waitstaff was friendly and accommodating despite
language barriers.
- Meza platter was about 50/50 on good taste
– great main meal taste
– menu was in Turkish only and not enough pictures to understand what you want. This place could cater to tourists more if they offered the menu in other languages.
– Menu showed desserts that they later said they did not have (baklava and Kenafe), so we went elsewhere for Tea and dessert
– Nice Turkish atmosphere; cold restaurant facility and they will offer you blankets to use as you dine
- one interesting note, the Turks on trip advisor did not rate this place too highly

“Bad service, substandard expensive food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2013

Had dinner on a Monday night. Service was ok until a big tour bus of people arrived, then you couldnt find a waiter.

Foodwise: the pomegranate salad is ok but nothing out of the ordinary. Then we had the oliveoiled eggplant, onion and grapevine dolmas; they were terrible. The rice for the stuffing was still raw, it tasted too much of tomato or pepper paste. We then had the lamb with quince, which was also nothing out of the ordinary, it was lamb and quince. Pekmez peltesi for desert was good. The wine tastes like grape juice gone bad, but not in a good way.

Overall very overpriced food that doesn't even taste well. Avoid it.

“Stunning location excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

We enjoyed our lunch here so much as a small group we returned the next day. The location is authentic and stunning - views way into distance over the plains below Mardin if you can grab a window seat - they'll pull down blinds as much as needed to screen the sun as necessary. Great choice of foods with well presented menu so we could clearly see what we were ordering and its price. We had one of each type of salad between the 6 of us - fed us well, along with the ever present generous bread supplies. Non veggies can be much more adventurous! Lots of choice. Wine and ayran served in the small pewter pots was novel. Service good, loved the table cloths (you can buy them as well) loos modern clean and excellent. It's on the main street so convenient for sightseeing.
