Fantastic caves, several of them, all with wonderful rock formations and reflection pools. Access is via a little train and then involves 11/2 hrs walking ( some steps and inclines). Ours was a small tour, probably about 15 people, with three nationalities. The guide was excellent, giving explanations in both French, Spanish and a small amount of English. He made a special effort to speak slowly and precisely so that we could best understand the French. These caves are really worth visiting and at €9.50 a bargain.

“nice cave with superb rock formations”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

you visit the cave onboard a small electrical train... superb rock formations: stalactites and stalacmites, waterpools where the roof is reflected in the calm water ... cheap and less crowded than other places

“Depth of pleasure”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

A train into the depths. A good guide who will keep you informed in English if you let him know. An extensive system which takes about an hour and a half for the full trip. Some amazing sites. There is a lot of walking and many steps so beware.

“A chilly visit underground”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

The subterranean trip takes about 1 hour 40 minutes; it's a guided tour and the guide we had (there are at least two, leading groups around at any one time) was clearly a most amusing fellow but spoke French with the local dialect that defeated us almost entirely. So, we trudged around in the darkness, bumping into sharp-elbowed crones jostling for views of the stalagmites and stalagtites and crystalline growths and amazing galleries illuminated mainly in dim orange light but some in almost pitch dark. There is a quaint little train to take you from the shop-ticket office into the mountain and a lift or steps up into the galleries. The natural displays are quite wonderful and worth all the shuffling and jostling and proximity of 30 strangers huddling together to listen to a guide who can be heard by perhaps 15 at the front and understood by fewer. It was for us a surprise to find the grottes just by the side of the road near the river and we are glad we did.

We visited out of season in September with our young son. The train ride into the caves was very enjoyable but the caves themselves are magnificent. Stalagmites and stalactites everywhere, truly stunning! The tour guide was friendly and although the tour was conducted in French, he made an effort to give us a quick summary in English. To be honest, just looking around you is enjoyable enough. Highly recommended!
