“Back for a third time”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We just returned from our third stay at the Hotel du Mont Aigoual. I gave this hotel a great review ad few years ago and am pleased to report that the quality is better than ever. The staff is excellent, and the restaurant meals, breakfast and dinner, are really something to look forward to. We have stayed here with friends as part of our walking itinerary on the Chemin de St. Guilhem, but there are also many shorter walks in the area to take advantage of. I look forward to returning again soon. Congratulations, Mme. Robert, on achieving thirty years of success!

Room Tip: Rooms are simple, clean and quiet. We enjoyed the view over the pool and garden.

A very comfortable hotel that I can certainly recommend. The restaurant has an excellent reputation and chef Daniel Lagrange is reputed to be the best in Meyrueis and we can certainly confirm the excellent quality of the food having used the restaurant on the 2 nights we were there.
The service on the first night particularly from Madame Robert was excellent however on the Saturday night the service had noticeably declined and the staff appeared harassed probably because it was very busy. Rooms are very comfortable although on the small side but ours opened up onto a terrace at the back close to the Pool area.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the Pool. There is a newer development on one si...

A very nice, clean hotel in Meyrueis. Friendly staff and very helpful with language difficulties. The food was very good and service was outstanding. The hotel is bicycle friendly and has a nice secure garage for storage. The pool and outside patio were wonderful places to relax after a long day of riding. The area around Meyrueis and the Gorge du Tarn is a cycling dream come true. Should be on every bicyclists bucket list of places to go.

Excellent, detailed service that will find it hard to find elsewhere in this day and age. Probably the best hotel we have visited in France. Outstanding food from a very talented kitchen. Please don't book when i want to go back next year!

Room Tip: rear rooms 1st floor open directly onto terrace and pool

We had an overnight stay at this hotel and immediately wished that we had booked a week. The Tarn Gorge and the Corniche des Cevennes are spectacular. The town itself is very quaint with two mountain streams that rush down to join the river Jonte. The Hotel has limited parking across the road which is close to one of these streams. There is a large town car park a few minutes away that is approached by a small bridge over the stream near to the Hotel.
Our double bedroom was clean, well furnished and comfortable. It overlooked the outdoor swimming pool and fields to the rear of the hotel which had a sunny aspect for most of the day. The electric window shutters proved useful in keeping the room cool and secure. Le Mont Aigoul’s restaurant offers gourmet cuisine from the Cevennes region. Daniel Lagrange is reputably the best Chef in Meyruis. His wife Stella Robert manages the front of house with such efficiency that the service levels are second to none. The combination is awesome.
As I said to Madam Robert as we left, we will be back for longer next time and based on our experience we will make a point of booking demi-pension.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear enjoy a sunny aspect.

We did not stay at Hotel du Mont Algoual, but at Hotel Europe, a few doors away down the road and in the same family. However, we had access to Mont Algoual's grounds and pool, both good, and thoroughly enjoyed one evening meal in the restaurant. What a delight to watch a restaurant work like a well-oiled machine; the service was friendly, nothing was missed, the decor was appropriate, and the food excellent. Highly recommended.

I wish we had stayed more than one night. Room was on the first floor with a door onto the rear terrace. The hotel had a small lift which was a pleasant surprise. The Bed was comfortable; firm but not hard. The main surprise was the restaurant which was superb.
The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. The location was quiet and parking just outside the hotel. Will recommend and stay next time in the region.

Room Tip: First floor bedrooms leading onto the outdoor terrace/garden/pool
