Another year another visit. Some new faces, but wonderful smiles from all. As before still no turn down, and perhaps the quality of the lined could do with a bit of an upgrade, also the pillows. Service is excellent, rooms a spotless, as are the bathrooms. Julie is as always..

Room Tip: Any or all.

If you appreciate beautiful hotels and beautiful wine this hotel is for you! The hotel is situated in the heart of Puligny Montrachet and surrounded by vineyards , a lot of which are owned by he hotel. The bedrooms are large and very well appointed and have a wonderfully French yet modern feel to them. The service is impeccable and the staff are all very friendly . The hotel overall has a lovely relaxed feel to it. We went for the wine tasting package over dinner which was just amazing!!! The hotel is owned by two brothers who are both wine makers and all the wine you taste is theirs! Without doubt a wine-lovers paradise.

Most wine aficionados are keenly aware of Puligny-Montrachet's prominence as a world class vineyard, but, we were surprised to learn that the small limestone village on the flats below the vineyards provided an equally prominent piece of France's most beautiful village landscape. The village is dominated by buildings bearing the Leflaive family name, one of two hotels anchoring the town. Head to the "centre-ville" and it's hard to miss La Maison d'Olivier Leflaive.

Upon arrival, our small group was offered the warmest of greetings by Olivier's daughter, Julie, who showed us to quiet, well appointed rooms above an interior court yard, offered access to the lobby "honor bar" and introduced to the on-site sommelier, who later poured us an extraordinary flight of wines, and who early on offered to help us store wines accumulated along the trip out of the heat of the day in the hotel wine cellar. Ms. Leflaive confirmed our dinner and tasting reservations and as other guests arrived, we heard her similar greetings to others, each very low key and friendly, like welcoming a family member home for the evening.

What followed was the extraordinary part of the visit, a simple dinner designed to highlight wines, poured by the knowledgeable sommelier in a sequence that revealed the subtle differences among "village" wines from Meursault, Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet, and counterpart 1er Crus from single vineyards in those appellations. The order of wines gave rise to a different complexity as the evening evolved, and, although presented with the simple meal, the experience cumulatively provided one of the most informative tastings we've encountered.

Dinner was fairly priced. as were the three levels of tastings offered (5, 7 and 11 wines) each appropriately priced in line with the pedigree of the wines, with an added option of a Leflaive Batard Montrachet for those willing to spring a little extra for the experience. Olivier Leflaive appeared early on in the evening, warmly asking each diner how he or she had discovered the restaurant, seemingly concerned about how his wines were perceived in the locales from which the diners visited and what he and the hotel staff might do better to make the experience a better one for everyone present.

The experience was a model from which all hotels could learn. We'll certainly return, and we offer our highest recommendation to those considering a visit.

Room Tip: Both the "cow" room (room #1 adorned with art depicting, guess what) and the "Romanti...

We purchased a package plan at this winery/hotel/restaurant that included a tour of vineyards and winery, wine tasting lunch, dinner that evening, a stay overnight and breakfast the next morning. We loved every minute of it. The little village location was lovely, the tours very enlightening and entertaining, the wine was great and so was the food. To top it all off, our room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. I would highly recommend anyone who loves wine and food (and why would you go to France if you didn't)? include an overnight stop at d'Olivier when they are in the Burgundy region.

Have just had 4 nights here in room 3, Suite Soleil. Very warm welcome by Julie, that was followed by all family members and staff we met being really pleasant, helpful and friendly. We were told to make ourselves at home and that's exactly what it felt like. Lovely big room with a private terrace. Enjoyed having the outdoor terrace that everyone could use, with help yourself drinks available from the lounge. Had the a la carte menu on the first night and another night enjoyed the tasting with new friends made in the courtyard! Really enjoyed the vineyard workshop with Charles and amusing tour of the cellars with Patrick. The only slight negative was having to ask for the laundry to be returned, and being presented with a pile of slightly damp unfolded and unpressed clothes!! Very surprised for the price, but at least we had clean clothes. Breakfast quite good, but if you don't like to eat much in the mornings, the boulangerie in the same square has plenty to offer. A really beautiful village, though a bit tricky to work out when other businesses were going to be open. If we are ever in this area again, wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

We stayed in this hotel specifically because we wanted to do the white Burgundy wine-tasting dinner at La Table d'Olivier Leflaive - only having to negotiate a few stairs after nine flights of wine was a bonus!

The hotel is very small - maybe ten rooms, but really new, comfortable and beautiful. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The rooms are spacious, well-furnished and have wonderful linens and towels. I would imagine that all the rooms have views across rooftops of the village or of the square in front of the hotel. However, you must realize that this hotel is located in a VERY small village with little to do but taste wine.

PS-I don't recommend the wine-tasting dinner as the food seemed like an "after-thought" and should have been more spectacular to match the wines served.

Room Tip: All the top-floor rooms (30, 31, 32) have very high, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams which were...

Dear Jena,

Thank you very much for your comments.
I always good to have a feedback.
We are very happy to read that you enjoyed our small hotel, we try every day to do our best for the clients to feel the most comfortable.
It's a pity you haven't enjoyed the tasting dinner. Thats true, the menu is simple but made with fresh products, and everything home made. We try to choose products well accorded to our wines for this menu.
For your next visit, you can try our other menu : Les Petits plats d'Olivier, not matched with our wines, which is more diversified.

Best Regards

Olivier has put together a wonderful experience for those touring the region.

You start with a walking tour of the vineyards - and let me stop here and stay this may be one of the most beautiful spots in the world. We were astonished to learn why one row of vines yields bottles that cost $100 and the row next door yields bottles that cost $400!

You then go back to the winery and see the production and how carefully they care for their product. And then onto a tasting lunch. Wonderful food in their beautiful restaurant. And what can be better than tasting some of the best wines from Puligny-Montrachet? Olivier and his staff were all caring and patient (they do this every day!) as they explained all the wines.

Then with a few hours off we took their bikes and rode through the vineyards to all the famous and gorgeous Burgundy villages. The entire area is magical.

In the evening you get dinner in their lovely restaurant. Wines were not included in the package but Olivier's brother made really wonderful recommendations.

This whole operation is a family affair - and the rooms were all designed by a family member. We stayed in the POP room which I absolutely loved! Fun and comfortable it was out of the ordinary in every way.

The experience ends with breakfast which of course was perfect. The entire package, although expensive was really reasonable considering what was included. And the love and care the Laflaive family puts into their wines and guests shows in every way.
