It is a number of years since we last stayed here and there have been many improvements. The new restaurant and wine bar are lovely and the ambience, service and food are very good indeed. Our wine expert opined that it would have been good if there had been some older reds on the menu but overall the wine selection is good and not too expensive. Our room was somewhat basic with quite thin walls so we were aware of other guests in neighbouring rooms to some extent. But overall an excellent base to explore this wonderful region.

there are 2 reasons to visit this hotel: a leisurely tour of the town of Puligny Montrachet and its close neighbor Mersault, and the dining room at Le montarchet.
First of all one should realize that the towns are tiny and offer little in the way of compelling attractions. The allure is their incomparable charm and the ability to soak up the local country lifestyle.
The hotel is, as has been adequately described as clean and comfortable, is somewhat overpriced for this area. The personnel are gracious and helpful.
As for the restaurant, it is very nice but will not overwhelm the palate with new taste sensations. the escargot were workman, pieces of bread lodged in the bottom of the shells and overwhelmed by a heavy basil paste. The partridge was "OK". It really lacked moisture and any enhancement for such a dry meat. The skate was another"OK". My spouse liked it but I thought it lacked the spiritual tenderness of others I have had. It was almost as if this was from a tougher part of wing.
The wine list is comprehensive and fairly priced for burgundy.
Overall this is a place you could visit while staying in Beane, just 12 kilometers away, and save the hotel bill. Not a restaurant I would make a destination. Probably closer to 3 1/2 stars than 4, but that is what we are left with.

Nice to be back here after 3 years. The food is as excellent as I remember it from last time, and the service just as professional (some might find it cold). The wine list is monumental, the mark-up acceptable (roughly 100% across the board). Our room was clean and comfortable, if distinctly overpriced at 130€ without breakfast.

Two things marred our pleasure.

1) It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was full. But even so waiting 100 minutes (from receiving our aperitif at 7.35pm) for the starter to arrive (at 9.25pm —OK, there were 2 amuse bouches in that time) is unacceptable and left us with gnawing hunger and a bit too drunk already to enjoy the meal.

2) Half the restaurant guests were native English speakers. But the basic rule that as a hotelier or waiter it is polite to say a couple of words of greeting to your guest in their native language (if you can't speak any more than that) or even offer to help them on their way (if you can) has not arrived here. The checkout "experience" was surly and abrupt. What had we done wrong to deserve it? A mystery...

It is, however, good to see some of the same faces still there after 3 years, and the actual product - the food, the wine-list, the beds - are as good as they could be.

Delightful hotel located in the centre of a quiet village and a favourite overnight stop for seasoned travellers when driving between Northern and Southern France. The hotel combines modern standards with a contemporary design based upon its 19th century origins. Easy parking available either in front of the building or in a private car park that's locked each night. Meals can be taken in the air conditioned restaurant on the terrace, the latter chosen by moist in the Summer. Dinner is mainly a ‘gastronomic experience’ and the buffet breakfast is excellent. A wine list to choose from that will delight the expert but maybe a little daunting for most, however expert advice is available and as you would expect from the area, excellent choices whatever your budget. The staff are very polite (if not a little cool at times) and many speak English if you need assistance with menus etc. Standards are very high and as a result it’s not the cheapest option but I suspect regular guests value its consistency.

Room Tip: The hotel offers 4 standards of room, the cheapest Régionales (standard), Villages, Premiers Crus an...

Our over night stay at this beautiful hotel was sadly not long enough. I would happily go back for a longer visit. The rooms are comfortable as are the excellent beds and the bathroom well appointed. The restaurant is lovely and the food wonderful although I was disappointed with my entree, it was a tomato tart but in actuality it was half a raw skinned tomato on a biscuit base with a couple of anchovies on top and didn't taste of anything. However my main course of guinea fowl was wonderful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the gardens are very pretty. Outside the hotel is a very pretty square with trees, planting and a water feature. The village is very quiet and sleepy. The hotel staff are all very helpful and friendly.

Really comfortable room on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year. We will definitely stay here again. The restaurant is very good with a lovely choice of wines. Although we only used as a stopover will now find every possible excuse to go this way again.

We stayed at Le Montrachet for 2 nights for the first time. We love Puligny-Montrachet and enjoy our stay at Le Montrachet.

We had a room with breakfast, which got everything the heart desires.
The dinner was also excellent and the restaurant is also a place where tourist from nearby towns visiting, so table (on the terrace) needs reservation.

We were treated with warmth and friendliness and will definitely going back again for a couple of days stay next summer.
